Ohhhh, April. That one your mom won’t forget. That means she has to redo the whole room. She has to decide if she wants to keep the walls papered or strip and paint? What color? Will her furniture match the paint color? Decisions decision, stress, stress, because you decided to pick on a loose seam and pull it off. Not to mention the cost of wallpapering or painting.

Aypo’s rare moment of nobility in the very last installment of this strip (which ran some years later) still doesn’t make up for that which she not so surprisingly realizes in the final panel here.

Mothers tend to forget all the bad stuff that youngsters do and just remember the good.

The reason they do not show Elizabeth’s face after Elly says that is because Elizabeth is doubled over in laughter. Elizabeth and long time readers know that Elly forgets nothing.

We don’t forget. We either find the humor or get philosophical about it.

Mothers also remember the things they wish they had done better. Hopefully the kids show them the things they did right.

Wasn’t Liz a baby when they got Farley? How would she remember all the bad things he did as a puppy? It would’ve made more sense for Lynn to make this a conversation with John or Connie.

Unfortunately they don’t forget until after the consequences have been meted out and you are out of the house. And then, sometimes not even then when they bring it up to your new spouse or your kids.

Ellie that is only partially true. The fact of the matter is, Mothers tend to forget the bad stuff………….UNTIL the whole family is sitting around the table for Christmas Dinner. Then those stories make for lots of laughs.

Nope, they don’t forget those things. It’s just that those things become good stories that embarrasses you later in life. “I remember the time when you did …”

Odd that Aypo is aware that what she’s doing is “bad stuff” but is doing it anyway.

Another reason why most Mum’s are solid nominees for Sainthood, methinks….

I reckon that a lot of the things that make a little ’un challenging when they are young will make them into decent adults.

And if a an adult child is silly enough to give their budding comedian Dad a microphone on their wedding day…

This reminded me of a story my mom told me. When I was probably three or four, I talked back to my mom and had to sit in the corner (the 1960’s version of a time out). I sat there quietly, and my mom was so glad I was contemplating what I did and learning a lesson. When she told me I could get up, she found that I’d been quiet because I was occupying myself by chipping the paint off the wall with my fingernail. Lucky for me, she was more amused than angry.

Elly is so full of crap! Mothers will specifically remember the mistakes you’ve made just so they can throw them in your face after 20 OR MORE YEARS!
