Lynn has always had great art. The House in the first panel. Fingering through files in the file cabinets. Facial expressions caught in mid surprise (I really like who people stop in the middle of chewing their food when someone lands a punchline or a surprise on them).
I was very lucky with my flatmate in college. We not only were compatible temperamentally but knew instinctively how to give each other space and privacy when needed.
I shared an apartment in New York with the ideal flatmate. We were rarely in the place at the same time! He was a professional actor and often was either on the road with a touring company or working in a regional theatre somewhere in the States. When he was in New York, I was usually working on location elsewhere.
I went to a college which at the time was all-male. By edict in the dorms, every weekday night from 7 to 9 were “quiet hours”. It was self-policed and worked really well. One might hear an occasional noise at other times. But during those times, tombs were noisier.
What does Mike mean by “haul some marks”? Does he mean earn high grades, or is he referring to something else? (I’m hoping he doesn’t mean “score with some chicks…”)
I hated living one summer in dorms, and in apartments before and after. Almost three decades ago, I moved into a house, and I don’t miss the noise. I paid off the mortgage in 2017.

You better check with your landlady first.

Can we say, “Hey, Mike—bad roommate choice!”?

Lynn’s drawing of Weed is rather sloppy. I wonder if that’s deliberate—to make him look like a clown-buffoon.

Mike insists on rooming with this stupid stoner, even though it never leads to anything good.

Cool! Was this strip written in the 1960’s (1990 Canadian Time)?

“Haul some marks!”?? I am not familiar with that phrase. Given the context I assume he means get better grades.

If they didn’t read the fine print in the lease about limitations on guests, quiet hours, alcohol, etc. it might be a quick return to the dorm chaos.

Don’t think that Weed quite gets the idea.

There is nothing wrong with Weed that getting a job couldn’t fix.

Should be “Let’s go Party” as parties are less hassle and more fun at someone else’s house
