Year ’round Daylight time would fix that.

Whereas in China — which looks like it could have more than one time zone — it’s the same time everywhere: like in one area it could be midnight at dawn, in another it could be midnight at midday, and in another midnight at dusk.

Ii call it daylight wasting time.

If you were going to muck w/ a calendar, though, I’m in favor of 13 4-week months with an annual “free year day” at the winter solstice that’s not even a day of the week, much less part of a month. Every four years a “leap day” at the summer solstice would have the same (lack of). attributes. Your birthday would move to another day (in another month, maybe) that’s the same number of days from winter solstice as it is now… and it would always fall on the same day of the week… or it would be on year day. Folks born on leap day would, of course, celebrate their birthday on the first day after in years without a leap day. Every holiday could be (adjusted once if necessary to be) on a Friday, Sunday or Monday making three day weekends common.

I never understood DST – it’s a complete mess (I’m just glad we don’t use it but it makes a mess when connecting with other people abroad). If they care much about people sleeping more, they can just change the working hours for the season shrug

In my opinion, there’s an easy solution to this: Take out an hour out of every day Monday through Friday, so it goes straight from 3:59 to 5:00 PM. You can take three hours out of Friday to make the weekends work.

Jason talks like he supports politicians; he knows the facts but becomes politically correct, meaning he subjugates himself to someone with more power and not the truth.

The easy way to get 25 hours a day is devalue the hour. If each hour is set at 57.6 minutes instead of 60 we can have a twenty five hour a day. Less time in school or at work, and you could use the extra hour for sleep or gaming as you chose.

We should push the clocks ahead 10 minutes every day and then every Saturday turn them back an hour.

It’s a short term gain, anyway, as eventually your body would adjust to the extra hour of sleep, and it’d eventually reach the point where it no longer felt like an extra hour of sleep anymore.

In many places in the summer it is just too hot to be out 11am-8pm so the prime time to do stuff outdoors is around dawn.

I wish daylight savings time was done away with. It is not too helpful in modern times and makes us Americans think we are so good we control time. It is annoying.

To be fair, Jason, we ALREADY toss all our calendars for new ones every year anyway. So if we scheduled it right that problem wouldn’t be a thing, really.

The obvious solution is to slow the Earth’s rotation down to 25 hours. You, of all people, should be in favor of that, Jason!

You can actually do this if you manage to get a very specific job! It’ll take a lot of planning, and it’s probably way more in Jason’s wheelhouse. First, do very well in math and science in high school. Second, get a great double major bachelor’s degree at a strong university and then a master’s degree. Engineering would be ideal, but one of the sciences can work too - what you’re trying to do is land a job at JPL and get involved in a Mars lander mission where you’re actually working as a mission controller. You’ll be issued a special watch so that you can live on Mars time for at least the intense primary mission (the first 90 days). Mars has a day about 37 minutes longer than ours, so while it’s not quite as long as the day Paige wants, it’s close. ;)

Unfortunately, Paige, you’d just be on the phone or your computer an extra hour at night. You’d never get that extra hour of sleep.
