Why do we always think aliens will have two eyes, a nose and a mouth?

One of Kurt Vonnegut’s alien characters (via science fiction writer Kilgore Trout) was a creature the size of a matchstick, that communicated through tap dancing and farts. It came in peace, but a drunk accidentally killed it by trying to light his cigarette with it.

Earth is not its intended destination, just an emergency rest stop. Sorry, it seemed appropriate, since the inhabitants are using the water and air essentially as toilets.

Not sure…but I wouldn’t make any sudden moves to startle it…

Either way, I wouldn’t stand too close. They don’t necessarily do things the way humans do.

Looks like the large fat cheeks are on the back of its neck. One can never tell about Unger’s drawing, much less his aliens.
