Awkwardness isn’t much different from conscience in this matter. Luann and Quill both know what to do; there’s no doubt that they will do the right thing and back out, graciously or awkwarkly doesn’t matter 

And the grand dance continues…I’m loving this story arc. Luann wants a little bit more commitment. Mr. Evans is doing an excellent job.

Why ask to define more? Girls KNOW what the guys want. She is just stalling for time – a sure sign she is nervous and probably a little scared. The first time is a scary territory for most girls. And the first time sets the tone of the rest of the girl’s sexual life. If it is good, she will like it and get comfortable and confident. If it was awkward, the girl will hesitate and wait for a long time before trying again. If it was bad, she will feel unconfident and withdraw as she may feel it was her fault. If it was rough or careless, she will dislike it and not ever have it again for God knows how long or go the other side. Girls are so sensitive about the first time so it becomes an important milestone in a teenage girl’s life so she is right to be a little scared.

Personally I do not think they are even remotely talking about sex. She wants to hear him say “boyfriend/girlfriend” or something concrete. She may have been the one pulling away, but if he flat out he admits he wants a relationship, she might be inclined to agree.

I hated that point in my life. Being a teen sucked bad. But then I never cared for the single life, anyway. Much happier with having a wife.

Luann has developed cold feet after her initial heavily romanticized but not very well thought out notions of “seduction.”

Luann is a tease, she likes to flirt. If she backs out after taking Quill up to her room he should be mad. That would be realistic. I just hope Greg does not try to moralize that Luann should wait for marriage. Most girls her age with a bf are at least into heavy petting. As far as this being a “family” comic, please, kids are not reading Luann. She and her friends are not realistic and I don’t think today s kids can identify with them. Most kids I know read Japanese manga.

Love the reversal. Yesterday the flirty eyes and the direct route straight to hr bedroom. She was a girl on a mission. Today he is stalling and confessing his feelings and now she hesitates after leading him on, she wants a definition. She is lucky that he is understanding and a true gentleman in every sense of the word. Most teenage boys would have already been into it and not even worry about protection.

This is more serious and surprising than any of us suspected, I now think. Quill has raised the subject of love and loss. This is not just going to be garden variety teen age sex, and certainly not just exploitation or “scoring” or however teens speak now. For a long time they have been holding back their romantic feelings for one another—not just their hormones—it is mutual and equal and innocent so far—but if they go ahead and have sex now it is going to be love making in the full sense of that expression, not just being carried away with lust. The emotional consequences may be explosive. (And I sure hope they are not interrupted.)

He wants them to be “exclusive”, loyal to each other until a B747 do them part.

Why can’t they agree to date and still be abstinent? It does happen, you know. She’s no fool. Boy crazy, maybe, but innocent, nonetheless. They’re in HIGH SCHOOL for crying out loud. Does nobody care about that anymore?

When Quill first appeared in this strip Tiffany tried to take him over and get possessive, but he very soon indicated that she was not to his taste and that he much preferred Luann. Leviticus, you may know the history of this strip batter than anyone, but as often as not you make off-the-wall unsubstantiated and irritating comments just to provoke, by your own admission. Can you give one instance which shows that Quill is attracted to Tiffany? Time to put up or shut up.

They are clearly leading up to kissing….on the bed or not, it doesn’t always go straight to sex…..you people forget about being young and filled with “puppy-love”….this is a family cartoon, they won’t go past kissing

Quill says, “we agreed to be just friends.” Was this “agreement” documented in the strips, or was it just understood to have happened, to explain why they didn’t develop a romance before now? Anybody know the date of a strip – following NYE kiss, or before?

It might as well be Splendor in the Grass it’s so hot between the two of them. But I’m sure there will be an honorable exit to this series.

The seduction has stopped. Read the body language. 1st panel, Luann has crossed her legs: the door is shut.

Poor ol’ Tiff. I can’t wait to see her reaction. I bet it’ll be priceless.

Yes…I can see that happening and when Mom and Dad come home to find Quill there (possibly in the bedroom), Luann will lose some of the trust she has built up with them.

lemme guess Sheriff … not only are they surprised by the parents, but they ban Luann from seeing Quill again. Too bad the sheriff can’t take bets.

I got it! I got it! Quill lays a big kiss on Luann – she accepts with an embrace – then the next day – a new story arc with some of the other characters. Greg Evans does this every time – however it works – we all read “Luann.”

Luann will not hear from Aaron Hill again until right after the minister says… “If anyone objects to this marriage, let them speak now or forever hold their peace”

I did a little searching and found this which is about as close to an agreement as Quill could get, before Luann interrupted him. This goes on during the week and then picks up about a week later. Guess this will have to do until some more definitive “agreement” surfaces.

Not many comments about poor Tiffany. I can hardly wait to see what Greg has up his sleeve around her reaction. I wonder if he reads these comments. I’ll bet he gets a few chuckles.

Very astute observation regarding Aaron Hill!

Quill appears to have great respect for Luann. She is the pushy one who leads him to her bedroom, asks if he thinks that she is trying to seduce him, and asks if he wants to be MORE than friends. She’s the one leading him on and putting words in his mouth. She’s the one looking for action. Again from Broadway………….“don’t talk of love, show me, show me now.”

personally, I think he looks more nervous than her. Look at how relaxed her position is…now look at him. Straight as a board and super stiff. He’s completely afraid of being rejected.

So: If Luann & Quill are depicted as having any kind of sexual encounter, it would likely offend a good many non-ironic Luann fans, not to mention basic constraints placed on the medium. (If Luann & Quill get down and dirty, the ironic readers will display Faux Moral Outrage.) What will the cartoonist do? It is set up that Frank & Nancy will come home earlier than Luann expects. So I expect that things will just peter out. But The Sheriff hints at something wildly unexpected. I hope it really is. I don’t care if my morals or faux-morals are offended. Please, Mr Evans . . .

You can have a conversation like this while NOT in your room, and NOT on your bed. Just sayin’. But when you’re that age, you don’t quite think things through. I trust Greg’s handling of Luann, that she is not going to go as far as the set up might indicate .. but there will be some more awkwardness to come…

What will happen is they will get to a point where it looks like they are about to get naughty and mom and dad will come home early.

I thought Luann already ‘did it’ with Aaron Hill before he left for Hawaii. Remember Brad looking out the window at the fogged up car window and commenting on the matter?

It is possible to go from just friends to boy/girl friend with cuddling, kissing and hand-holding and not jump right into sex.
