Keep it simple, just act like a friend.

Gunther will NEVER understand women if he keeps getting pushed around by them.

Just say, “If you need someone to listen, I’m here; if not, that’s okay too.”For that matter, if he’s not into her romantically, as he keeps insisting, this shouldn’t be so hard.

It may be time for the RA on duty (Bernice) to report to the dorm mother or dorm director about what is going on.

Three possible scenarios:

✦ Gunther goes on to Tiff’s by himself, even while horrified.

✦ All four of them go to Tiff’s, because Gunther can’t handle it by himself.

✦ The four skip Tiff’s entirely, go to Gunther’s house, get out some booze, and get crocked.

Gunther is in over his head here.

The three in the first panel remind me of the three bears from the Goldilocks story. Bern suggests to be rough and tough (read: too big, too hot), Luann suggests to be more in the middle (read: not too big, not too little, not too hot, not too cold), and Dez is the opposite of Bern.

Hey, Gunth. Invite Tiff to Dinner at Your Mom’s House.

I’m Dying to see the Looks on the Faces of the “Dinner Guests,” when They get a look at the “New Tiff,” Especially Les.

Of Course it would be MY luck if Les also Likes “Thicc Girls.”

What happened to study buddy? Just go and visit.

One is concerned about the heart….one is all in for “head space”….and one insists that it’s all about the hair. Yep….. none of those are Gunth’s forté….

A persistent bunch of busybodies, I’ll give them that.

Why can’t the girls just let Gunther be and let him handle it the way he would naturally – his friendship with Tiffany happened naturally, so there’s no need to fake his way into her room. The girls are being silly, thinking their instructions will help Gunther. Leave him be.

“Yes you are,” says Luann. “Remember that time at the library?”

Lu & Bern & Dez would have been better to keep it light. Gunther pleads, “What if she slams the door on me?” Possible replies: (1) We’ll drive you to the hospital; (2) Good experience – you need more experience; (3) Bring your Mom – nobody can say “No” to her; (4) Call Les and say, “She’s all yours.” Oh – I forgot – Gunther doesn’t have a sense of humor…

What a crock. What a bunch of busybodies, sticking their noses in someone else’s business. Tiffany is not their project, to be analyzed, to be fixed. And Bernice grows more unlikable by the day.

This dorm has sooooo many hallway corners.

Tiff does open the door and sees Gunther.

“Are those three hidding around the corner?”

Now she will let him in.

Also, just a small observation: they seem to each have their own patterns, here.  Dez with stripes and polka dots. Bernice with plain/solid, Gunther with plaid…and Luann with some diamond-y like squiggles. Seems kinda apropos to each one’s personality.

I think Tiffany will pick up right away that Gunther being there is not his idea, and she will resent it.

If she’s your friend, you don’t need to be equipped. And yeah, the girls are adding on a bit much. Just normal talking is fine.

if they were real friends, they would reach out to the crisis unit at Moony U and let the professionals handle the situation

Gunther is a sensitive guy, esp. around Tiff. He’s equipped for this.

Gunther appears today to be up to his old post-Peruvian actions. He is going over-the-top in his reactions, and he is not (in my mind) eliciting any sort of sympathy for his “plight”. He seems to be preparing to act out again with his new overly intensive personality. Blech.

So, as I stated yesterday, I am really soured on Gunther as a character, and his actions today have not added anything but additional acid my sour feelings. Again, the hope is that Greg will have some sort of growth for him, and I will wait, watch, and read…. looking for it like everyone else. But…. as it currently stands…. I really am not fond of his character in the slightest anymore. When he was Pre-Peruvian…. I enjoyed his nebbish, nerdy shyness. During Peru…. I enjoyed the explorations and growth that he attempted. But, Post-Peruvian behavior…. ugh. Just lets say… I find it unfortunate. He needs to shape up in some fashion or ship out to the “volcano,” if you ask me. He seems (to my read of things) more selfish, more angry, and more unpleasant that ever before in his character’s portrayal.

Now, that said…. Dez, Beatrice, and Luann…. I do enjoy their attempts to coach Gunther on things to do/not do. They have very good intentions today, and even though some of them are a bit short sighted, I think they are spot-on for their respective characters! Very nice.

Gunther is getting way too many instructions. Just go talk to her, Gunth, and be yourself.

OMG. Is this arc ever going to get anywhere? I think I’ll just wait a couple of weeks until it’s over and then just binge read it.

For God’s sake Gunther, grow a pair.

Failure is not an option — it is mandatory.

Saturday bet:

● She opens the door, and he says, “Hi Tiff”.

● They stare silently for a few seconds.

● She closes the door, leaving him in the hall.

I bet…..that as he’s in mid sentence with a “hello” or whatever, she’s gonna hug him as she cries her heart out. My guess.

Tomorrow: Gunther faints!

If Tiffany is depressed, I think Gunther’s trepidation might work better with her than some masterful mansplaining dorkery. Testicles aren’t relevant. But I could be totally wrong – imagine that!

Not clear what Tiffany needs the most right now from Gunther. We still don’t even know which theory is correct: (1) Tiffany has real depression (2) Tiffany had a personal tragedy, and has adjustment disorder (the term Sukie suggested) (3) This is a prescription drug reaction (4) she has hypothyroidism or (5) Something none of us have thought of – imagine that! I left off the looney tune theories … .

Boy, they’re really putting a lot on Gunther, aren’t they? Let’s face it. They’re not interested in her welfare, they just want to know why she got fat.

Just don’t think there will be a door slam or even a gentle click. I think the three-lady intervention was just overwhelming, which can be a problem with interventions.

Overwhelming, under thought, left to chance, nothing right, and as an aside, subject to the Twilight Zone if anyone expected it to work

Vegas Odds: Tiff will close the door in Gunther’s face (40%). Tiff will yank Gunther in and close the door (20%). Gunther knocks and no answer (20%). Tiff answers and there’s a guy in there (10%). Gunther refuses to go to Tiff’s door (10%).

Has anyone figured out an easy way to expand all the comment trees, now that the site upgrade has made the old widget non-functional? Its annoying to have to click on every thread one by one.

Ok, Gunther – sure fire way to get in: before you get there, pick up a couple of pizzas, some bacon double cheeseburgers, a bucket of chicken, a dozen donuts, a half gallon of ice cream, and a diet lime coke.

I thought Gunther had started to develop a backbone a while back. He’ll go see her and end up staying the night and then a new Gunther.

Ladies Three give advice very much in keeping with each’s Character Gunther’s reaction is pressure-valve explosive, in the fashion of Peanuts.

Maybe Tiffany will let him into her suite if the Ladies Three stay well away. (Mostly I think she will let him in, just to keep the Gunther/Tiffster sub-arc moving.)

i totally sympathize with those who want Tiffany and Gunther to make some music together. It’s just that with depression, that is a bad idea. Recovery and then let’s see. If it’s not depression, let’s see.

I wish I could do a Vulcan mind meld with folks who have never had acute depression (my new adjective). The Evanses may not “get it” themselves.

Okay. A frog is sent to kiss the princess because a frog’s kiss will return the princess to a princessly state? In fact, both characters are frogs, and I don’t see how one can elevate the other to better than frog-status with a kiss. Both must learn to accept their lowered status, and support the other, of course.

Will or won’t he, can he or can’t he? Will she or won’t she? We have two days in this arc to see if there is an answer to this question, a bridge, or just an end to another time.
