Right on, Tiffany. Tell her! SHE is the one who is leaving! BYE, Ann! Although I doubt we will see the last of AnnâŠI have a feeling thereâs something more, besides Mr. Farrell.
Tomorrow will be the revelation that Tiff is a preferred customer of Souffle Lingerie and probably knows how to contact their corporate lawyers, which sheâll threaten to do unless Ann leaves town (for the third time).
I would still report her to the police. It is great that she got her friendâs money back but that doesnât stop the scam. That money represents a transaction for one event, a drop in the bucket. With out the authorities involved, when Tiffany addresses the more personal aspect of this mess it is going to lot very petty on her part. " hey daddy, you know your new girlfriend is selling fake undies?"
Evidently Ann understands the seriousness of Tiffanyâs charges. It looks like no more lingerie nights at The Fuse. However I donât know that this will drive Ann away from Tiffanyâs Dad. Anyway I would like to see a good counter punch from Ann. Itâs not all that interesting if Ann just goes away.
Dez spent $216 alone, so way to go on taking the more difficult route for minimal payoff there, Tiff. I guess all the other customers can go hang, but at least you got your little confrontation.
No more shallow airhead. Tiff has demonstrated how pain and suffering can make you grow up and mature very quickly. Pain, even the emotional type is a hard teacher, but an effective one.
stay tuned, as this may have an unexpected end to it. So far Anneâs getting âslapped.â And thatâs not unexpected, thatâs good. Sheraton so far has control. And thatâs very impressive! I hope Less doesnt forget her âname.â
When you think just how many people like Ann are selling fake goods over the internetâŠ.and the millions they are raking in! Perhaps this storyline is really close to the truth in many transactions. If Ann has been selling fraudulent goods for a long time, she could possibly go to jailâŠ..and have to return the money. However, Tiffanyâs dad may be heartbroken though!
I was expecting to find out that Tiffanyâs dad (Have we ever met her parents?) was Annâs business partner and this triumph would blow up in her face. Well, thereâs still tomorrowâŠ
Oh, this must be an outtake from the blooper strips, where Ann steps on Tiffanyâs line, by mistakeâŠ. and points her finger a few seconds off cueâŠ.
I keep hoping this will tie Ann to her brother, Mr. Gray so that Mrs. B. and Gunther see that the siblings are bad news. There has to be a reason for a well-off man to want to move into a womanâs home and build a house for the boys. Mr. Gray was an enigma from the beginning; whatâs his real story? I really donât want Irma to marry him :-(
The denouement is not quite complete. Ann gave up on the lingerie, but now Tiffany is about to go for the kill on the relationship with her father that Ann has. Ann is the one whose face will not be seen, not Tiffany. The issue of jail is very questionable, although there could be local laws on running essentially a bunco swindle type operation, but I really donât think that is the point. Tiffany will come out on top, and Ann will leave, yet again, to be brought out at some future opportune time. That is my take anyway.
A lot of people commenting seem to be lawyers, this is a strip and Ann Eiffel is soap opera type villain, the type that create evil and never get caught or punished.
Annâs âburnedâ at the Fuze although she may not know it yet. I think the next revelation for Ann is that Sheraton St. Louis is a pseudonym (nom de guerre?) and Tiffany is already deep inside Annâs life.
Judging by the comments, it looks like Team Greg has put its foot in it this time. There are two camps running through comments. One is the âtoon world of emotion and drama and the other is the reader world of reality, law and order. Stick with the âtoon world people. Let Team Greg play out their little morality play for our delight and edification.
Iâve been very impressed with Tiffâs character development since leaving HS. She has matured in her college years thru her friendship with Gunther and â surprisingly â Bernice (though I doubt theyâll truly be BFFs). She is thinking and acting on behalf of others â to protect her friends and father from Ann. Protecting her father is not entirely altruistic and Tiff will likely always be somewhat shallow, but I find her character more interesting than she was in HS. Great work by the Evanses!
Iâm no lawyer, but why would Eiffel get arrested for sellingâwhat do you call them, designer knockoffs? I thought people and businesses did this all the time, not that that makes it right.
Eiffel must have always had a gravy train, because how could she have afforded elaborate clothes working as a store manager at a bookstore and then a fast-food restaurant? Perhaps she has been seeing Mr. Farrell for years.
Ann: "What?! You mean REVERSE my last sentence?! ⊠Well, OK ⊠If you say so ⊠âUnderstand?! Again face your see NEVER will I and ⊠LEAVE will you now!â "
Tiff: âAnn. Just get the F#*&K out of town and NEVER come back!! And STOP sounding like YODA!! (Gunther was telling me about him earlier)âŠâ
Not really sure what to think today about the action. Just some random thoughts:
1) Tiffany collecting the refund for herself and her friends is fine. But, will there be other repercussions for Ann other than the apparent âleave townâ suggestion by Tiffanyâs last comment?
2) There are of course a lot of other people who were scammed at the parties. Will they somehow be compensated? It seems a very difficult aspect to build into the comic story line, so I am not sure if that will be portrayed or not.
3) I feel this somehow will HAVE to lead to interaction between Ann, Tiffanyâs Dad, and Tiffany. But, that too seems a bit difficult to segue into given the severity of the issues of product infringement (at least as reported by many yesterday).
4) With so many faux items available on-line, however, there may be some sort of wiggle-room that will keep Ann in the story line for some time yet and we could then have an Ann/Tiffany/Dad interaction⊠which I would find very, very interesting.
5) But, now I am also wondering if perhaps Gregâs plan is to keep Tiffanyâs Dadâs character as a ânever seenâ, âbehind the scenesâ character as he has always been (other than, I believe, a small back of the head image at graduation)? If so, perhaps Ann WILL just up and leave and we will start a new arc on Monday.
Repeating what I said yesterday; The laws may have changed. I do not think that they have, so; US Customs Service should/could look at this as a case of possession of counterfeit and forged goods. Found guilty of such, 5-10 years in Federal custody on EACH count of an indictment [yep that means each individual piece of phony lingerie, folks] and if Ann Eiffel is not actually a US citizen deportation following the time duration of her sentence. Several nations are known to participate in the knock off scam, most of them in Asian countries but some in Africa and South America. Phony Eagles memorabilia from âgame wornâ jerseys to autographed footballs have started to show up at local flea markets and discount sporting goods stores, ever since the team won the Superbowl. So it is not just womenâs fashion, it is a huge money making scam that we the public participate in everytime we get an âunbelievable bargainâ on an alleged brand name item.
The only way Ann can possibly get out of this is somehow proving the lingerie was legit or revealing that she and Mr. Farrell are already married. Or Both.
The only reason not to think Tiffany will defeat Eiffel is that itâs too obvious. It would be more of a story if Eiffel destroys Tiffany in brutal retaliation.
It certainly was a great idea to make Knox Eiffelâs son and make Eiffel the leech of Tiffanyâs father. Characters are more interesting when internconnected.
I think that Ann is STILL unaware of who Tiffany is. Itâs a sign of how little attention she pays to detail when sheâs gold digging on a man; she alienated him from his daughter but canât even recognize her.
âYou have it backwards, Ann. YOU will now leave, and I will never see your face again.â As in, âyouâve paid me off to not turn you in for fraud, but your boyfriend (my dad) might not be so forgiving when I reveal your activities to him, and I plan to tell him (and the cops) if you ever go near him again. â With any luck, sheâll make Ann take her hooks out of Les as well (Iâm guessing that Les is not as guilty as we think, that whatever heâs paying off to his mom might be a result of some scam she pulled on him earlier.
Tiff was the shallow gold-digger herself a few months ago, and her weight gain came from the depression of losing her fatherâs doting attention. I would expect that she will NOT revert to form once (if) she vanquishes (or at least temporarily defeats) the Wicked Witch, having been honestly befriended by Dez, Luann, and Bernie, which was the key to her revival.
AND, it could be the turn of a new leaf for Les as well. After all, his Uncle Al is marrying Guntherâs mom, and he and Guth will soon become roomies.
It appears that Annâs not leaving any time soon. Does this mean that sheâll find out who âSheraton St. Louisâ is? Will Tiffany tell her father what Ann really is? Will he believe her? Stay tuned.
Tiffany still needs to notify Souffle that someone is counterfeiting their products so that other legal actions can be taken if neededâŠâŠ. just for good measure. Iâm liking this new Tiffany and hope that she will not revert back to her former self. She has tasted what friendship can really be (e.g. Bernie, Dez, and Gunther) and has now become a force for justice. Maybe sheâll be motivated to study and go to law school. Sheâs good on her feet (speaking back) and can see through to a personâs intent.
My mind apparently is into an awful lot of reminiscing lately. A few days ago, Tiffanyâs actions were having me hear the incredible âThe Mod Squadâ theme music run through my mind, and now today, Tiffany in the last panel for some reason keeps having me think about Sharon Gless (Cagney from âCagney & Laceyâ). Whatâs next?!?! Will Tiffany channel Farah Faucet tomorrow and I will reminisce about âCharlieâs Angelsâ?
Finally, now, do not get me wrongâŠ.. I truly enjoyed the show and thought William Conrad was exceptional, but I sure as hell hope that the week does not conclude on Saturday with Tiffany channeling Conrad when on âCannonâ. :)
I was just thinking that if Eiffel realizes who Tiffany is, she has a particularly vicious angle to attack Tiffany from: taunting Tiffany over the loss of her fatherâs attention.
Greg usually likes to rehabilitate bad or mean characters but not this time; heâs chosen to further demonize Ann Eiffel but rescue and rehabilitate Les. I donât want to see Tiffanyâs dad brought into this. I would much rather see her continue as the new Tiffany, becoming friends with Dez and others and move forward in a different way from that of the past.
Notice how Ann is pointing at Tiffany in the last panel, directing her. Ann is accustomed to have her way based on her forceful and deceiving personality. She successfully pulls the wool over the eyes of all these ladies at her lingerie affairs. But sheâs met her match in the new reformed Tiffany and itâs not working. Such an interesting turn of the characters and plot. I wonder how far back the Evens planned all of this.
And so we see the second part of Sheraton St. Louis/Tiffany Farrellâs plan. She not only seeks (part 1) recompense for her cheated friends but also seeks (part 2) to banish Annie Awful, and by such ostracism to Save her Unworthy Father from a fate worse than being a rich old single guyâŠ.
