Oh Luann is kind of a peer mentor eh? Interesting. Where will that lead? Success for Jack with her encouragement? Closer regard, and romantic relationship? Or just a good friendship? He is a decent sort it is becoming increasingly clear. I know tons of troll bot comments will comment, but I think this is a side of our main character that is very attractive no matter how it turns out.
Of course Jack needs courses in chemistry for his vet tech agenda. But I’m not sure why Luann needs courses in chemistry for her teaching agenda.presumably directed at young kids.
Jack is definitely looking and sounding like a more likeable character. Am not sure if Luann is going to fall for him though. In real life, though, she’d probably fall head over heels in love with him and each would be leaders in their favorite careers. They are both alike, really.
I had a g/f in college who was a vet tech. My favorite story she told was how they used the old x-ray gloves to handle angry cats. She proudly said they hadn’t found a cat yet who could get through the heavy lead lining.
Vet techs are wonderful and very good career choices… but only if that is really what a student wants. But, many students mistakenly think it is a path that can easily then migrate into stepping into a DVM program. Unfortunately is not particularly successful in doing that and students often have to backtrack and take significantly more courses.
Pahdon me while I toot my own horn. I predicted he’d dropped football yesterday. (Yeay me!)
Back when, I also commented that we would look back on the dog park episode as a sea change in the Jack and Luann relationship. Jack’s physical appearance continues to improve. Jack keeps appearing in episodes linked closely with Luann. I’m thinking Jack and Luann will wind up something like Gunther and Tiff for now. As in tutor/friend with “chemistry.” Though who will tutor whom may yet to be decided. [Yes. I meant that both ways. Classroom and relationship.] :o)
AND Jack takes Luann’s advice and gives up his dream of football and the potential 9 figure salary, eventually realizing as well that he’s been steered in that direction throughout school because he really isn’t up for the kind of courses that are needed. When he looks back at his failed career he’ll at least be a forty-year-old fitness instructor at a franchise gym….Thanks, Luann!
He is a lot less likely to die young from repeated head injuries that way. RIP American football. Like tobacco, it was fun having you around while we thought you were harmless.
Interestingly, on June 4, 2012, Bernice states that she wants to be a veterinarian, and Luann wants to be a thermodynamics astrophysicist. Perhaps Bernice can be a help to Jack if she is still on that track (which I doubt).
I really like Jacks character. Greg has taken him from a one dimensional cliche to a actual likable guy. Personally hope there is romance brewing between these two.
I’m on the fence about this situation. If chaperoned dates were still in fashion, I’d say ‘okay’; would I trust him if they had a singles’ date? Not yet.

Using his head to plow through linebackers? I was wondering why the top of his head was so flat.

I hope he’s not taking all those classes in one semester – that would be quite the class load!

That “smart” joke is so corny, it seems like a dad joke Luann would have gotten from her father.

I guess that explains why the vet tech thing led to Fit Up. He’s dropping sports, so he needs to stay in shape some other way.

I am happy that Jack has found a pathway that interests him! I like the interactions here between Jack and Luann.
I still think it would be valuable for Jack to give some thought to whether he really wants to be a) a vet tech, b) a veterinarian, or c) just is interested in the direction of biology sort of work. It he is more ambiguous about his final career path © or if he is certain he would like to be a veterinarian (b)… he would be better off taking a more traditional set of courses designed to complete a biology major rather than the courses that are typical in (a) a vet tech program. The vet tech program courses tend to be very much associate degree specific and focused on specifically the GOAL of being a vet tech. They do not transfer well into a program leading to an undergraduate major that moves a student towards a DVM (doctorate in veterinary medicine).
Vet techs are wonderful and very good career choices… but only if that is really what a student wants. But, many students mistakenly think it is a path that can easily then migrate into stepping into a DVM program. Unfortunately is not particularly successful in doing that and students often have to backtrack and take significantly more courses.
