Way to go Tiff, follow what you know. Beauty and cosmetics and fashion. Maybe she should become an Authorized seller of that lingerie since she knows the Owner of the company
We;; is this apparent slamming the academic door, open the door to independence for Tiffany? Follow the arc down the yellow brick road and we might see.
Yeah, prediactable. She is not interested in earning a degree. Now that her credit card was restricted, she needed moola and she is much more interested in making money and doing what makes her happy and make money at the same time. She is just in the wrong post-secondary school. UNLESS she majors in accounting or business so she can start a nail salon business. Hope Bernice thinks fast and advises of that.
3) Will this mean that Tiffany will finally have a one on one with her father, ALONE, this time. And tell him what Ann has been really doing to her?
4) And if 3) is the case, Will this mean Ann’s Swan Song? Or will Tom FINALLY “put the brakes” on Ann, and become a real father to his daughter?
5) And Tiffany does quit, and moves out? WHERE will she stay? I hope to God it ain’t the Gulag? Not unless Les suddenly (And Hopefully) drops dead. I don’t think We need to go from the “Odd Couple,” To “Three’s Company, In H3LL!”
You know, I joked yesterday about Tiffany becoming the Strip’s first drop out, but JEEZE! I never dreamed……..,
I’m not even sure what Tiffany was doing there in the first place. Didn’t somebody ask her what her major was once and she didn’t really even know? She was just wasting time there while living off her father’s money. She didn’t have a real goal.
Now that she knows what she wants to do she should go enroll in a cosmetology school and pursue that. Get real training and a license.
Yesterday, I noted that Bernice would be the inevitable killjoy. And she is. Tiff is finally doing something constructive and well received, and yet Bern wants “rules”. She needs a makeover.
I flunked the same semester twice and quit. Joined up military and did okay. I did go back to school for programming to get a better job. Did much better as it was important. College is not for everyone, trade school would benefit many.
Hmmmmmm….. OK, I had a feeling it would come to this, once I saw Bern confront Tiff initially. However, I did not expect Tiff to quit. I hope she reconsiders that. Are the opportunities you get from earning a college degree not worth the pain of having to deal with her dad and (by extension) Ms. Eiffel?
That said, there is something to be said for trade schools, these days, as an alternative to just plowing into college after HS. Does anyone know how much welders make these days? And cosmetology is something Tiff really likes. I just hope she can make it work… somehow…
Put the brakes on, Tiff. Being a manacurist isn’t a high paying job that will give you a lot of money. Consider majoring in buisness and opening a salon. Bernice has some idealized view of college, but she needs a job/money as bad as Tiff. Tiff could AT LEAST mention that Mooney U is very much running a buisness – its paying Bernice to RA. Tiff is just smart enough not to hand control of her career to the corporation/university. At least approach Daddy with a buisness plan & get a loan before quitting. And here’s wishing a thousand bad haircuts for Bernice.
There might be others that do; Carnegie-Mellon University, for example, is one of the few schools (perhaps the only in the States) where you can earn a degree in playing the bagpipes.
Well, *Mordy*’s speculation just dropped on us like a ton of nail polish! Could Tiff’s caloric and spiteful reaction have been caused by the remorseless harangue she’s been getting from Witch Awful? Tiff might need the calming intervention of Ox at this point. Our gal has had a tendency to jump into the deep end of the pool before with less than desired results.
Tune in next week. Or maybe three or four weeks from now. :o\
Yes,College/University is to make you a more productive member of society. You become paid by what you know, what you can do with your mind and not what you can do with your hands(manual=hand labor).
If you graduate with un-productive skills, you have spent your time and money recreationally. Fun, nice, memorable but not productive.
As Mike Rowe once said; “Don’t follow your passion; follow the opportunity.”
I see great potential in Tiffanyif she follows her opportunities.
If Tiffany no longer goes to college, she’s just cut down a tremendous amount on her dad’s spending. Maybe she can use that newfound money to make herself pretty again so she can….how shall I say….marry well? Problem solved? Bet her dad’s friends have rich eligible sons.
There are beauty schools, she could enroll at one of those, tuition is cheaper than most public universities. But those don’t usually have room and board or meal plans. And Ann Eiffel doesn’t dare let Tiffany out from under her thumb.
Bernice missed a chance to help Tiffany. Instead of just citing the rule, she should have helped her explore options to find a place where she could do her work. Also throw in an academic path to learning how to run a real business.
What is Tiffany to do? Daddy won’t like her quitting school. She wasted all his money (Though she never wanted to go to Moony in the first place.), and he’s too involved with Ann to care what happens to her.
What I would like to see happen. Tiffany goes to see her dad IN PERSON. Calmly explains to him that. Ann has told her all about his financial difficulties (probably a lie). Has cut up her credit card and given her a new one, which Ann monitors ALL spending. Tiffany has no money. She’s discovered a good BUSINESS – cosmetology – doing nails to make money for herself. She can’t do this out of her college dorm. She wants to drop out of COLLEGE (expensive) and go to cosmetology school (not as expensive).
Let’s hope Tiffany can go to a cosmetology school. Granted, Tiffany has the skills and the desire, but as long as Ann Eiffel has control of her father (and especially his money), Tiffany has even less options than she does cash.
Tiffany is going to have to find another way to earn money so she can afford to get out from under Ann. She may have to reconsider the dishwasher job…
Maybe the local community college offers an associate’s degree or certificate in cosmetology. Tiffany will have to work to pay her way. I doubt her father cares enough about how Tiffany feels, and I think he just wants her out of the way while he spends his time and money on Ann. I have thought all along that Tiffany would do best at a school of theater, fashion design or cosmetology.
It was only a matter of time. I don’t know if Bernice will try to change her mind, but Tiffany had never loved Moony’s university, she went there just because her father forced her to do. It would be very good for her if she went to that school of cosmetology that had so interested her in the past.
Calm down Tiffany; your knee jerk reaction is just that. Leaving Moony is a foolish idea. And Bern, you could be giving Tiff creative advice and some reasons to stay in school.
Tiffany: “Daddy, I’ve got good news and bad news for you. I’m leaving the university to attend cosmology school, so you’ll save lots of money. The bad news is I’m moving back home with you.”
Tom: "Quoth the raven, “Nevermore”, but Tiffany, my precious daughter, I will set you up in your own apartment and lift the restrictions on your credit card for one year."
Let’s let next week …be all about… Tiffany telling Bernice that this is all Ann Eiffel’s fault. Then Bernice can help Tiff take down Ann. Happy ending!!
Come on Tiff, use your head. If Bernice is on this power trip, go over her. Talk to your hall director. It may result in the same, but the HD might also give you options: go get written permission from the dean of students to do this in the Commons (not your dorm room), set you up with spirit club and can do this for them etc….. Stay in school, get a business degree, then get your cosmetology degree and start your own nail shop. Strictly following the plan isn’t as important as having one.
