As a male, that projectile accidentally going towards Jack’s “boys” is definitely going to hurt.

Now, that is what I call a friend zone!

From yesterday to today, we can determine whether black, white or “green” is Luann’s best color.

From whence? ✨

Yeah, that’s going to put a hitch in his git-along, big time. So now GnK has given us yet another arc where its purpose in the development of the Luannaverse is, if not questionable, certainly bewildering.

GnK are finally moving away from the standard pose of arms straight and closed at the sides and legs straight out like paper doll. Jack has his legs man-crossed and an arm hanging on the top of the bench. Luann has her arms crossed and legs woman-crossed. Look very natural and relaxed. So, back to the story…looks like Jack is going to meet his future date. Or will that be a guy… and he and Luann meet?

My money’s on Tara or a new character for the ball. This is just the Evans’ way of creating some exploitable drama that will end in bringing Jack & Lu closer.

There’s also the possibility that we are about to face the return of Crystal.

I was about to say something about a date, in fact, falling into his lap, but I think that’s obvious to everyone, so I won’t say it.

The ball thrown for a dog but hitting Jack will have been thrown by… let me guess. Tara.

Im guessing that a new love interest appears for Jack and they date and then luann gets jealous and realizes shes into Jack (or the other way around)

Okay, it’s established that dates just don’t FALL INTO YOUR LAP, but it’s occurred to me that they do SIT IN YOUR LAP. ;-D ducks

Meanwhile, in panel 3, the shotputter who accidentally launched that ball into Jack’s lap is running over to apologize while calling on the phone for an ambulance. “Yesterday” by the Beatles has an appropriate line:

But a potential date’s dog-ball might.

What kind of ball is that supposed to be anyway?

What does Jack’s response mean? Is he saying You bet that he is still App dating? He’s never had any problem getting dates with various women so far. He just starts talking to them. Jack would not need to App date.

Luann’s look will not alter the trajectory of that ball! :D

When did we know Jack was app dating? Before now, I mean.

Ah the possibilities! I think that Jack and Luann will eventually be together for a (the) long haul, but that might be torturous in the process. The ball hitting is lap is intriguing, as it is meant to be, but…?

Interesting to see a continuation of pet themes; Saturday to Sunday to Monday.

The famous last words…? Why not? But for Luann or for Jack? Interesting see a continuity with the Sunday.

I don’t understand why these two aren’t dating. They like each other, have fun together and Jack has proven himself a caring and trustworthy young man.

This could go a number of ways here as has been pointed out. But I’m leaning for this to be a “fall in the lap” date for Luann. Repeat! Leaning! ;o)

Jack has always indicted he had no problem getting dates. If you remember he got Luann and Bern to go bowling with him and Nil. If it is a potential dare for Jack, I doubt it would be Tara. There have been and are adequate opportunities for them to click up to now. That being said, it might be a very interesting matchup to explore. Maybe we’d find out more about mysterious Tara than we now know.

So that leaves a date for Luann. She indicated in Panel 1 that she is not currently dating. The comment about “intimidating” indicates a shyness or reticence in meeting potential date material on her part. So, the setup could easily be for a Luann date partner. Plus, the timing is right. Fall begins today and winter is coming (as they say). Perfect time for a long dating relationship for Luann.

Well that’s my story and I’m sticking to it! Until tomorrow. ;o)

8) Bets, with Gunther playing with Bets’ hereto unknown dog? Bets who meets Jack and starts up a friendly conversation about dogs causing Gunther to get jealous, and unnecessarily complicating his life? AGAIN!

9) Shannon, Who is very disappointed. She was aiming for Jack’s “Head.” ;)

so much like real life, Luann chasing something… anythingyet when confronted with people she’s got a solid connection with it’s completely dismissed.

I’m glad to see Gunth is getting somewhere with Bets, I’m not surprised that these two aren’t hitting it off. Honestly I don’t think Jack has any difficulty in finding companionship, though he may simply not make it a priority (he seems to have a pretty good head on his shoulders)

Do look now, because it appears a dating opportunity is doing just that.

They aren’t even sitting under a date palm.

Has anyone noticed that this is Jack and luann’s SECOND visit to the dog park? Different outfits and different time of the year. So they’ve been meeting in the dog park for a while now. And it looks like Jack is going to meet someone new.

Hmm. So, I am taking the “foreshadowing” to mean that since Jack says “Dates do not fall into your lap.” that in this week’s worth of episodes…. we will be seeing that the person who through the dog’s ball errantly… will be a potential new female dating partner for Jack. She and Jack may have a congenial conversation as the female apologizes for the unfortunate toss and both may find each other interesting and entertaining.

So, a couple of questions:

If what I suggest comes to pass…. will:

a) Luann feel any jealousy? If so, this may allow her to see (potentially) Jack in a different light than as just a platonic friend. For me, I am not sure which route would be more interesting…. Jack as a platonic friend or Jack as a dating partner for Luann. I think I still lean towards preferring Luann to not be romantically involved with Jack nor anyone for a while longer. I would rather see more of her growing in other aspects of her life more at this point.

b) the tossed ball be something lightweight like a soft foam ball or a lightweight tennis ball, or will it be a more substantial, heavy ball like a solid rubber “Kong” style? The type would definitely shape the “impact” of this errant throw to some extent. I tend to suspect Greg will have it be a lightweight ball with no noticeably harsh gonadal impact…. because I believe it would take away time from the story he likely wants to tell between the thrower and Jack.

Have no doubt that the image means that the ball was thrown by a female someone who is interested in Jack and it “accidentally” lands in his lap. Although I’m a guy, it didn’t occur to me about the placement of the ball because I imagined the ball to be light like a tennis ball. We’ll find out!

I’m hoping that tomorrow’s ‘toon shows a dog leaping into Jack’s lap to retrieve the ball and inadvertently, the pup’s jaws close on something else(!), followed by a very apologetic owner who offers to help Luann get Jack to a hospital…

after all this time, hasn’t the poor girl earned a serious guy? Even if it doesn’t work out? When was Aaron HIll? Early high school? Jeeze! Back in the day we called that “Long summer, not much rain.”

Methinks Luann isn’t seeing the forest for the trees.

Well, its not a hair ball from Gunther’s new cat collection. And, its not a UFO carrying tiny alien bugs that will jump out and start biting Jack’s crotch. So, Jack must look at the other end of the toss because that’s where the real catch is.

In five days, on the 28th, it will be Luann’s birthday. On September 28th of 2014, Luann celebrated her 18th birthday. Even Greg and Karen made an appearance:

Jack may be more shy than we have thought. He came on to Luann when they were in freshman art class because he was attracted on the surface. Now their friendship has grown deeper and he may not want dating that is superficial. He is being more careful (knowing that she has had boyfriends) to guard against getting hurt himself.

Luann wants to the natural way!!!

I’m still stuck on the wardrobe change.

Sometimes they Assault your lap.

Jack is so mellow, Luann may need to do something shocking to stir him. But of course she won’t. Another opportunity missed (or should I say “avoided”?).

The incoming ball is another story….

So what type of guy is Luann interested in exactly?

If Jack was suffering from PTSD, he might yell, “Grenade” and throw Luann on top of it.
