Fractions have long been a painful subject for Earl. And at his age he especially avoids them, since they donā€™t heal as quickly as they used to. :/

There was a restaurant near Disneyland that advertised, ā€œFive out of four eat here.ā€ Their portions were huge, even by American standards.

Fractions are easy. For example, I always have my pizzas cut into six pieces and not eight. That way, when I eat the whole pizza, Iā€™ve only eaten 3/4th.

I was a mechanic. A college kid working for the summer sweeping and taking out garbage asked if he could borrow a wrench ā€œthe next size smaller than 9/16.ā€ I told him he had to tell me the size, and he better not say ā€œ8/16.ā€ He furrowed his brow and said ā€œ9/15?ā€ Did I mention this kid was going to college? I didnā€™t loan him the wrench.

There are two kinds of people in the world: those who can draw conclusions on the basis of incomplete information.
