I still can’t quite get over the fact that in America cider is a soft drink.

Manure in ancient Greek epic: In the Odyssey, book 20, Odysseus returns home disguised as a beggar after being away for 20 years. He arrives at his palace/homestead and the only living being that recognizes him is his old dog Argos, who is lying outside on a pile of manure next to the door. Not only does this show that no one cares about the poor faithful aged dog, but no one is supervising farmwork. Ordinarily the manure would not be lying there in a pile; it would be spread on the fields as fertilizer. In fact, archaeologists in Greece have found small battered pieces of pottery strewn what were open areas around farmsteads: people threw broken pots on the manure pile/trash pile and then spread the pieces across a field where they broke further.

Yep. It’s a lot of shoveling. Stone, dirt, manure, etc. And every bag weighs 50lbs. Captured nicely in one character haha.
