Quick to purge her daughters toys but not her own (shoes)

She’s definitely your daughter, Wanda.

Oh, so she’s a hypocrite as well? This storyline has not made Wanda look good at all.

I’m the same way about my cup collection. And my books.

My wife does the sane thing.

I’m 72 soon to be 73 and the only things that I can part with are absolute worthless junk, otherwise I find it hard to get rid of stuff.

Beside, toys and shoes are completely different things!

I’ve never understood the concept of having a gazillion shoes. I have 5 pairs: dress shoes, dress sandals, causal shoes casual sandals, winter boots. However, I have a stuffed animal collection that rivals my daughters!

Or your tools in the shop!

I have a huge collection of tools. Problem is, when I need one of those seldom-used items, I can’t find it. So I buy another. Then I find the original. And so it goes……..

Ah ha! To quote Paul Harvey – “Now you know the rest of the story”. Zoe got her hoarding trait from Wanda.

If it hasn’t bee out of the closet for a year then it goes to the thrift shop. Exceptions are holiday clothing.

Who was it that mentioned her shoes and purse collection?

I have no problem throwing out footwear.. well almost.

For me it’s books. Even the thought of getting rid of books causes physical pain.

I had a feeling there was something inherited there.

By the time I reached middle school, I had already given away all of my own stuffed animals. However, I have found it difficult to part with my daughter’s collection, which consists of only six items.

Aha, and now the other shoe has, um, dropped. :-) Funny how often it turns out this way — traits we find hardest to discourage in our kids are often things they’re mirroring in ourselves. If you can set your ego aside, it’s amazing how much you can learn from your children.
