Will be interesting to see Wanda finding a way to force Zoe to apologize to the school that her mom won’t be able to do any of the things she said she could do.

That kids needs to learn a lesson and a big time out, and to learn you don’t volunteer people without asking first.

The teacher should know too, that one can’t do all that at the same time.

Zoe’s going to find she’s been volunteered to sit in the dunk tank.

Actually schools don’t have their students volunteer their parents. The students have to bring back signed forms from parents whether they will volunteer or not.

I would have long since told Zoe and Hammie "Don’t you EVER volunteer me for ANYTHING. You can tell your teacher if he or she needs any help, to call me and ask, and I will let him or her know whether or not I can help. If you volunteer me, you’re the one who will be embarrassed when you have to tell the teacher “I’m sorry, my mom can’t help after all.”

Zoe has been volunteering Wanda for a lot of activities lately, even I didn’t ask my Mom to do that much events

Notice that Zoe doesn’t lift her finger and pitch in with help at the carnival. She expects her mother to do everything.;/

Frankly, Wanda should just say “No”.

Zoe has a high opinion of her mother’s capabilities. Mom should be both pleased and appalled at the same time.

She’s reached her breaking point.

I think this sequence is funny, as it’s meant to be. But some commentators are taking it way too seriously.

I think Darryl is about to find out the hard way what sharing is about in their marriage.

I made the mistake of volunteering my mother without consulting with her first exactly once. She was working full time at Sears during the day. I volunteered her to bake a bunch of cupcakes. She did bake them, but I was certainly in the dog house with her for a while.

Wanda – “And what are the other parents doing?”Zoe – “Nothing. I’m the only one that spoke up.”

Aren’t there going to be any other “volunteers” there?

Ride the rides, etc….

In other words Wanda, YOU ARE THE CARNIVAL CHAIRPERSON!!!

Zoe should be “volun-told” to inform the school her mom isn’t going to do any of that because she wasn’t consulted first.

Mom has too many fingers to be a carny.

Wanda, just say no, teach Zoe about how not to be volunteering somebody without asking them first.

So no other parents are helping?

The school hopefully knows better than to take Zoe at her word, making so many commitments on Wanda’s behalf without talking to her.

My mom would have scolded me and told the school ask her before you ask her kid. Come on Wanda, use that backbone!

Time to have a conversation with Zoe, oh, and her teacher.

Zoe that is too much volunteer work for your mom.

Oh, is that all? Easy-peasy!

Mom was an artist, so she would paint the first sign for the carnival, and then the school would get it copied. Her art for those events went all over town. Wish we’d kept a few…
