Looks like every once in a while Lupin has to remind Goldie he still is mad at her. Lol the laundry basket, what a gentleman. He hoping she gets thrown down the chute into the laundry room?
I once fell asleep on my back (staying over at a friend’s house) and woke up because I couldn’t move. Someone was asleep on top of the covers between my knees.
At least the negotiations are more or less civil. I’m glad the Goldie stands up for herself and that they all found a spot in the bed. Kind of worried about the Woman’s arm! Lupin is always extra! Life with him is never dull!
We had six cats at one point. One winter morning, I work up on my back with one cat pressed against each upper arm, one against each thigh, and one having worked himself down between my legs at the knees. I was almost immobilized and had to struggle for a minute to get free.
I love Lupin’s possessive eyes. Albert gets that look when he’s lying on his Man. He also stretches out The Possessive Paw to keep any Interloper (that’s me) from getting too close.
Yesterday morning when we left for the Special Olympics basketball tournament, Reboot did his Houdini act and escaped. That evening when Jora and I got home, our neighbor from across the street came over and told us that Lily had been mauled to death by a pit bull. He tried to save her but the dog just wouldn’t let her go. He called animal control but they didn’t catch the dog yet and, since we weren’t at home, they took Lily’s body to the pound. I have a number to call to get all the information. The officer told the neighbor that that dog had already killed at least one other cat. I’m not being vindictive but that dog will have to be put down before it kills a child. We have a lot of kids on our block and most play outside.
We eventually found Reboot and he is unharmed. Luckily, he would run from a dog. Lily wanted to fight everything and everyone. They said she put up a good fight and definitely put some injuries on the dog which will help identify it when they catch it.
I had a cat years ago that slept like Lupin. One of our current kitties, Blackjack, like to sleep on my legs near my knees. I wouldn’t mind except he’s a big, solid cat and weighs a ton. And, he won’t move. I have to pick him up or lift the covers to move him.
Both Maverick and Ember appear to prefer our bedroom, although Ember does spend some nights in the Boy’s room (he said, referring to him as the “Boy” on his 21st birthday).
When they are in our room, the arrangements are interesting. Maverick seems to have a preference for sleeping at my feet (being 4’5" in a queen-size bed, I manage to leave plenty of room for him). Ember will generally alternate between sleeping at the Woman’s feet and sleeping in her wheelchair.
As well, they have been known to get into fights when sharing the bed together, although they take pains to do so quietly so that they don’t wake us up.
One time when I bred Siberians I took a long vacation. (Yes someone was home to take care of all cats) The night I returned, I woke to find all ten cats in the house (some were kittens, some were boarding back while there folk were away) on top of my body. That was a lot of weight. I wonder how they decided who slept where.
OT – a few weeks ago I said I was going to travel the US looking for a home & job. Well…I finally got my passport, so that plan has been postponed so I can visit England, especially the Cotswolds & London and any other place that takes my fancy! I’ll be arriving in the morning on March 1st & leaving on the afternoon of the 9th, does anyone want to meet &/or have any suggestions about what to do or where to stay??
We have a similar situation, but the cats all jump off and head for their particular heat register when the furnace goes on. Sometimes. This morning the “Furry Fivesome” did not move until we shooed them off. In fact, two of them are back on the bed as I type.
When I was a young adult, my K. T. Lee (Katherine Tallulah Didlee, thank you!) would sleep at the end of my bed, until…One night after dancing in high heels ‘til the wee hours, I woke up after about 1/2 hour asleep with the most terrific leg cramp. I felt paralyzed, and it took all my strength and determination to quickly and forcibly straighten my leg…into K. T. Lee! I heard the thump as she was ejected from the end of the bed (thank Cat I didn’t have a footboard!), and I scrambled to turn on the light and find out if I had hurt her. She was on the floor at the foot of the bed, looking thoroughly dissatisfied (and like she wanted to speak to the manager NOW!). It took a minute or two to convince her to come back up on the bed, but from that night on she slept on the pillow next to my head!
Cat Space is why Mom has a queen bed now instead of a twin. We’re in a smaller house, a twin bed’s just fine for HUMAN needs, but we have cats who expect to have room to sleep with their Person/Grandperson. I’m on a twin bed until my double can be moved up here, and sharing with my cat is an interesting experience! Though not as interesting as when I had a roommate with two kittens who decided that my room was just perfect for night time snuggles…on my twin bed, of course. There were nights I couldn’t move!

With his excellent nighttime cat vision, Elvis doesn’t need the lights on in order to read.

I love Elvis in the middle, half-glasses and a book, saying it is time for lights out.
Elvis was born as a 65 year old in a cat’s body. I picture him talking with a New York accent, like Mel Brooks 2000 year old man.

At first, I questioned why Elvis would say, “Lights out.” when he’s reading, but then I realized he’s a cat, and obviously can read in the dark.♥

11. Count them. 11.
Once the lights go out we are stuck until breakfast. Penned in, pinned down and immobilized. It’s like a furry straight jacket.
Beverage intake after 9 pm is contraindicated. You are NOT getting up to use the facilities in the middle of the night.
