Occasionally, one of my cats will be good and clean the other’s ears. And suddenly – CHOMP! They then will get into a fight! But not this week! Big wind storm going on out there. They are keeping a distance from any one or thing that will give them a static electricity Zap!
We’ve got one like that – we call her “The Croco-Puss”. She hides under furniture like a crocodile lurking in a swamp and attacks unwary victims (mostly our feet and the other cats).
We had a chain reaction horror event last night….white cat on top perch of cat tree next to patio doors must have heard or seen or imagined something because he suddenly leaped off the tree and crash landed in one of my art piece/plant vignettes, which caused the dog to leap up and bark, which caused the black cat to vault out of my lap using my arm as a springboard, and then they all chased around from room to room. All of which left me with a bleeding arm and a mess of plant parts and broken glass to clean up. (If I can find a replacement piece of glass, I can repair the small art piece that I bought at a small gallery years back but that will have to wait until in person shopping is possible again.). Never a dull moment with pets, eh?
I know that’s probably supposed to be jaws music, but I hear pink panther. Now i’m going to be thinking about taking the trash out all day. You know, to the dump, da dump, da dump.
Robin’s wondrous announcement made me realize — today is the day ten years ago that Russian Blues William and Franklin (in my avatar to the left) came to their forever home with me. Franklin had an untimely demise, but Bill still gives me hourly doses of cuddles.
Take a Piñata to Work Day (Observed) —I can hear it now: “Can’t we just use the bosses, instead? Or at least the middle managers?” While the bosses and middle managers want to use the employees. Labor relations have never been better …
International Moment of Frustration Scream Day —Hopefully this will not knock the earth out of orbit, or superheat the atmosphere.
1979: Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy First Published —and some people still don’t know where their towel is.
World Arthritis Day —I own several “Sons of Arthritis” shirts, which are a kind of never-say-die biker thing, even though my bike is a recumbent cycle. They definitely embrace the spirit of those of us with severe arthritis. I don’t have a skeletal system. I have a more or less articulated mass of arthritis.
National Kick Your Own Butt Day — and get moving. I would, but the arthritis gets in the way.
“National Gumbo Day” —Perhaps the original “fusion” quisine. I just learned what “filé” is: ground sassafras leaves. Now I’ll have that song running through my head all day.
Pulled Pork Day— The pigs are objecting—strenuously.
We run into this every now and then here at the castle. Usually no big deal but once in a while it has adverse consequences.
Last week I noticed a lump on Lewis’ tale. Brushed a finger over it and it came away wet and stinky. And he bolted. Long story short we had to corner him and do a towel wrap to get a good look.
Puncture mark and a big swollen lump. Got the cotton balls and peroxide and handled it like a big zit. Wow nasty. Squoze it out until it bled clean blood only then swabbed it with peroxide.
Man, what a horrible smell.
We monitor twice a day The pop and spurt treatment appears to have done the job. Swelling is gone and he will allow us to touch the area now. No infection, no pain, all good.
Still in the trust rebuilding stage. He was NOT a happy kitty after the great pusplosian.
Hello, everyone! I’m giving a virtual talk over Zoom this Thursday night at 7pm eastern time/4pm Pacific time! I’ll be talking about the Halloween specials and ghost stories of BCN, and what makes a good ghost story!
I’d love if you could make it, it should be a good, spooky time! This is a library event that folks need to register for, so the library can email folks the invitation to the Zoom meeting! Email (staff@crossmills.org) or call Cross Mills Library to register as soon as you can.
(Fun fact—Trevor’s Woman is the librarian and library coordinator making this happen! Give her a hello!!)
If you are currently enjoying Elvis Puffs Out, please remember to leave a review! Amazon makes it very easy to leave reviews, and I assume the other suppliers are equally simple.

Again, this strip in no way reflects real life Lupin and is totally the product of the author’s imagination.

In case anyone was wondering, this is neither Shark Week nor the anniversary of the movie “Jaws”.
Lupin’s just crazy, that’s all.

I think this is fake news. I have yet to see a cat in the loaf position with the tail extended. It is curled up along side the body for extra warmth.
The monorail position is rife with opportunity for tail hijinks.
