Ann’s face in panel 2 is priceless – go Tiffany! And yep – I did call it a little earlier, Simone called her Tiffany without (yet) revealing her last name.
Who cares whether Tiffany knows French?? I would think it is quite clear here she knows French, huh? Either from her travels or she took French at Pittsville High?? Or a tutor paid by her dad. Whichever. It is silly to question that when she’s speaking the language in the strip. Lots of people can speak another language besides English. America is such an ethnocentric country.
I don’t think Tiffany is being smug. I think she’s just not concerned about the fact that Ann grabbed the phone away from her, because she must have someone or something else lined up to help her with this takedown.
Okay Tiffany you have performed BRILLIANTLY! But it’s time to finish Ann off and take your victory lap, before Ann Remembers and pulls out her jaw dropping “Ace-In-the-Hole…..,”
Yeah, snatch the phone away. Because there’s no way Tiffany can just call her back later or anything.I’m just hoping Tiffany refuses to make any deals with Ann. I’m tired of seeing Ann get away with only the minor inconvenience of having to leave town just long enough to come up with a new scheme. Time to face some actual consequences.
This arc is still running lop-sided. Don’t get me wrong – I like Tiffany - but this little rich girl from deep money and connections is trashing the struggling ex-store manager who has finally resorted to a low level scam to stay financially afloat. And this is all because little rich girl’s dad recently acquired a girlfriend. We haven’t heard anything to the effect that Ann has recently been a professional gold digger. I will be disappointed if the arc ends with Tiffany recording this encounter with Ann and then showing Ann the door – just like TJ did. Tiffany’s dad might show up to provide a much needed twist to what is going on. Hopefully the whole story won’t end with Tiffany & Dad sailing off to their tenth Paris vacation.
Anyone notice Ann now has Tiffany’s phone? This might be where Ann finds out who Sheraton Saint Louis really is. And where is Less hiding? (I’m hoping he is calling the cops)
For those of you who want to put Ann away – don’t forget that we had over 600 responses when Ann showed up a year or so ago. I say she’s a keeper. And we gotta get the dystopian dinner party at Ma Berger’s. Clockwise around the table: Mr. Gray, Smiling Ma Berger, Gunther, Tiffany, Les, and Ann Eiffel smooching & pawing Tiffany’s Dad.
Didn’t Tiffany say she had 4 cell phones on her before this went down? If so, I bet she has another recording everything, hidden from sight. Her expression doesn’t appear shocked in the last frame, more bemused, like she expected Ann to do this. Go Tiff!!
OK, I trust that Tiff has a plan to get her phone back from Ann, but we’ll have to see. If not, then I hope it’s a “burn phone” or something like that. I think Ann missed the fact that Simone said “Tiff,” unless we find out otherwise in later strips. We’ll see.
Tiff, bring it home. The “Coup de grâce” should be spectacular.
Tiffany has been scoring all the points here in this battle of the femmes, but I wonder if there is a blow waiting from Ann who might be thought of as a cornered animal (not actually an animal, just metaphorically) who strikes out. I don’t remember seeing her this angry before, although she reminds me of people who can react violently when things happen which are threatening. Greg generally pulls a rabbit out of his hat, so stay tuned.
It would be so much fun…if TJ and Tiffany’s father – would be waiting in the back room to come out. I’m sure Ann would be shocked to see BOTH of them! heehee
A bit confusing turn of events for me in regards to the comic this week. I am confused by several aspects, but most notably:
1) Other than for “dramatic purposes” I cannot really see a reason for Ann to continue being aggressive towards Shearaton/Tiffany. It seems obviously clear (and should be even to Ann) that she has been uncovered, and I would have thought we would have seen backpedal her story in some sort of fashion. But she is futilely persevering in thinking she can continue to have her actions allow her to “win”. Ann is NOT stupid, so it seems she would be attempting to weasel out of this by now in some fashion.
2) I find it oddly surprising that Sheraton/Tiffany does know well this “Simone” who is apparently the owner or designer or both of Souffle Lingerie. I can only imagine that Sheraton/Tiffany knows her ONLY because her “business tycoon” father must have some sort of connection with Simone. Otherwise, it would seem unlikely that a young adult (although still likely teen-aged) would have such a connection.
* * * *
With those two points of murky confusion for me, it has me wondering (along with what I feel may be Ann’s recognition of Simone) is…. does Simone perhaps already know Ann in some capacity? If so, is it as Tiffany’s Father’s girlfriend, or is it from some other venue?
And, given what seems to me to be a growing need/desire to keep Ann in the comic…. might there be some sort of “semi-legitimate” factor here? Perhaps Souffle Lingerie somehow has produced “seconds” or a “lite” brand that is supposed to be sold under a different name, and Ann is taking these lesser garments (still produced by SL) and calling them that? Seems far fetched… but with all the confusion at the moment, I do not know what the hell to think.
Whoa! Eiffel has some nerve to blow off the CEO even after she sees her. Or Eiffel is simply stubborn. She chose to disbelieve and is sticking with that.
Has anyone else wondered whether it’s possible “Simone” is Crystal posing as Simone? I doubt it, but the hair (if not the facial structure) looks somewhat similar. And those French phrases she and Tiffany exchanged are something you’d learn in high school freshman French. And Simone’s choker necklace—Crystal wears one too.
I wonder if it is intentional on Greg’s part…. but over the last several days… as Sheraton/Tiffany has reeled Ann in deeper and deeper into being exposed…. more and more of the “Wicked” graphic is being revealed on Sheraton/Tiffany’s garment (the placement of the scarf shifts each day to reveal more). It now looks as if the full “Wicked” would likely be exposed in tomorrow’s panels.
If this is intentional… it suggests perhaps tomorrow is the pinnacle of Sheraton/Tiffany’s efforts in the drama in this arc.
Are we really nitpicking Tiffany here? Ann’s hole is gitting dug deeper and deeper and she has one knock-off stiletto in it. We should be enjoying that!
I suspect that Simone would have pronounced Tiff’s name “Tee-FAH-nee” rather than TIFF-uh-nee. Assuming Tiffany’s father has at least mentioned his daughter to his girlfriend, it’s possible that Ann still wouldn’t make the Tee-FAH-nee/TIFF-uh-nee connection in the heat of the moment.
Let’s not forget – There’s ALL THAT FAKE Souffle Lingerie product behind Tiffany in Panel 1! Product that WAS ALREADY in ‘phone vision’ of Simone herself!!!!
Like I said earlier – Souffle – ‘hit the fan’!! – OOOO this is gonna be GOOD!! :)
Global Airstrike has its first female Raven: from Malmstrom AFB, Senior Airman Jessica Ortiz-Villa of the 341st Security Forces Support Squadron. For those who do not not know this is like becoming a SEAL or Green Beret.
If Tiffany’s so rich, I wonder why she didn’t go to a private school. I have assumed not that she was necessarily rich but that she’s simply one of those kids who got spoiled rotten by her father and/or mother, regardless of how much money they had.
By the time we get through panel 2, Annie Awful has been officially destroyed, leading to her desperate assault and theft in panel 3. She’s just digging a deeper grave for herself at this point….
And Simone Souffle and Sheraton St. Louis are the ones who did her in!
If Simone were Crystal in disguise, she would have called Tiffany by the name “Sheraton.”
Tiffany’s been at uni for more than a year now. Plenty of time to learn some French.
So what if Simone called Tiffany by her real name? It shouldn’t surprise Ann at all to find out that the person taking her down used a fake name to register. And why would she assume that Tiff is her boyfriend’s daughter? There are Tiffanies all over. It’s a common name. I’ve got five just among my Facebook friends. And, if Tiffany’s disinterested dad even has a photo of his daughter somewhere in his apartment, Tiffany doesn’t look that much like she did a year ago.
Tiff has been playing rope-a-dope long enough with Ann so I expect a quick reversal of momentum. And, the reversal won’t be pretty. Remember, Simone hangs out in Paris where they invent things like the guillotine to handle little disagreements.
