Oh, Tiffany, keep that neckline up. You don’t need to do that to reel them in. That is the old Tiffany. Aren’t you trying to be a better person?? (and some of you hit the target on Les stopping by for the guest list). Anyway, like I said last Saturday, the moment Tiffany said she needed to change her lipstick shade, I knew she was back to the old Tiffany and here she is, back to her old tricks to reel guys in.

Many paths lie ahead. We shall see which they take.

SHE’S LOOKING SLIMMER!

Les’ wording where he said he would respect Tiff if she said no appears to have her thinking something that caused her to pull her neckline down over her shoulder along with giving him a sultry look. When she finds out that all he wanted was the guest list, the neckline came back up and the sultry look dissolved.

That’s not how a shirt comes of, Tiff.

Gosh, and we thought Les was going to pull something – have a little self-respect, Tiff!

I’d like to hear more about the crazy idea Les has about what he plans to do with the guest list. And how he will execute the plan. Getting a bunch of angry customers to file complaints against Ann, and having her arrested for fraud would still be good.

Ah. So it Tiffany coming on to Les. Looks like the old Tiffany is indeed back. And that’s BAD, IMHO.

But I’ll give Les credit. So far it looks like he all business and it “appears” that He’s more interested in taking down his mom that Tiffany. Either that means he’s incredibly focused on revenge OR he’s no longer interested in Tiffany because she’s gained weight. Which in My book makes him a bit shallow.

The “Problem” now is Tiffany. To me she’s clearly coming on to Les in Panel 2. Or more to the point thinking that Les meant something of a sexual nature and by partially disrobing and saying “yes” she’s up for whatever Les had in mind.

So will the rest of week bring Tiffany making subtle advances toward Les while he ignores them? Or will he finally succumb to Tiffany’s charms by the end of the week?

At any rate, We handful of Gunther fans finally know what Greg and Karen think of a Gunther/Tiffany romance. I guess it’s just as well. Tiff would have only ended up tearing out Gunther’s heart out, which she’ll probably end up doing anyway before this story arc ends. To bad though. A Gunther/Tiffany romance, however brief would have been fun for awhile…….,

Boy this is one of most interesting panels in a long time. Kudos to those who predicted that he wanted to get the Souffle scam list. I have to admit I did not see that. But it makes sense in the part of the story I did see, which involves settling the parent score. They both share that desire, for good reason. But…panel 2 clearly shows that Tiff is attracted to Les. When he poses a double-entendre question to her (at least in her mind) she pulls down the corner of her blouse at the shoulder, almost involuntarily, with a rather sultry smile, and kind of smoking eyes saying “Yes.” She likes bad boy Les, sorry Gunther fans. Hormonally attracted to him. Of course the blouse goes up when he turns, and asks for the list, and she reverts to the parent revenge plan in panel 3. But this is the most subtle, but strongest panel I have ever seen in Luann of very viscerally physical attraction. OH DEAR!!!! (LOL).

“Your dad sure takes care of you.” It sounds like Les has been talking to somebody who might want a guest list.

Nice continuation of suspense. In the last frame, Tiff appears to be connecting with Les, now that it seems she is a participant – not the goal. Tiff lost some weight already and is quite fetching – Les may not be able to stay on course. But it definitely isn’t a good time for Gunther to show up – his wisdom is worthless at the moment.

Why such a shocker about tiff, she loves bad boys. And Les is definitely her type of bad boy.

@AURAMAC: Tiffany’s lack of self respect, which seems to partly result from her long-term inability to get any real attention from her father other than mostly monetary, is at the root of her problems. Too bad it is being shoved aside in favor of letting her revert to her coping mechanisms…

In a weird way, I think they could be good for each other. They both had crap parents and can form a genuine bond because of that. They would understand each other. Or maybe Im just a romantic

I might be wrong but I don’t think that I would use sultry to describe her eyes in panel 2. Looks like more of an ‘oh well, it’s what they all want’ look because I think she looks happy that she was wrong by her eyes and smile in panel 3. VILY suggested this earlier I believe.

Les has more respect for Tiffany than she does for herself.

Google definition of slut:a woman who has many casual sexual partners.synonyms:promiscuous woman, prostitute, whore. Do you really want to characterize Tiffany as that person? I think is it RANK hypocrisy for some to suddenly think a character, who seems to have an attraction to another character, Mr. Bad Boy Les, makes her somehow a promiscuous woman. She was never a promiscuous woman, this is not that kind of comic. She was flirty and overly concerned with her looks, and perhaps she is still somewhat like that, but there is a connection between Les and Tiffany, as someone said, they both have crap parents, and they share them, could become step-siblings (not that that would not be interesting if they become romantic; it just occurred to me maybe that is the planned outcome, Les figures out how to detach his mom from Tom Farrell, once done he lets Tiff know HE is attracted to her) but just because she is attracted to him is this panel suddenly she is tantamount to a whore!!! Someone even has this incredible idea that somehow because people here like Tiffany, to protect the named character, Luann,G and K have made Tiffany a slut. Obsession, and hypocrisy all bound up in one nonsensical idea. Please keep things in perspective, and not be judgmental or sexist. Let the storyline develop and it will be a lot more fun. I am defending Tiffany here, I am secular about who she should have a relationship with if she is to have one, but calling her basically a whore crosses the line in so many ways.

What! Sex in a college dorm room? Absolutely unheard of. Especially in a Luann comic strip.

And now what could be the twist?

At the end of the arc, Les and Tiffany still hug each other and Les hears her whisper, “Gunther.”

Less is sending mixed signals. I don’t know if he’s helping Tiff or himself. Tiff seems 2B a little mixed up herself. Man it smells funny to me all around.

We can read between the lines all we want (um, isn’t that what we DO here?), but Tiffany’s affect visibly brightens after Les directs the conversation toward the lingerie scam.

Oh wait. I got why Tiffany reverted to her old ways; she is feeling betrayed and neglected by her father so she is seeking male attention where she could if she isn’t getting it from her father. She figured Les would give her what she is craving. She is looking for love in wrong places. Sex does not equal love. A lot of “sluts” think sex is love until they find they are mistaken but their reputations already damaged, so that must be what Tiffany is doing. She could have gotten it from Gunther but Gunther is too much of a gentleman so she is seeking it from Les, an easy hook.

Tiffany wants to be wanted, after being rejected by her father.

WOAH! She was gonna give up the goods!

Tiffany sits Les down at the table, runs to the refrigerator, and brings back a jar of maraschino cherries.

Greg has his Reuben Award, so maybe he does not care.

Does Tiffany excite strong sexual desire? Always. So under that definition, Tiffany is always sultry.

Is Tiffany hot with passion for Les?

NO WAY

Ill defined. Is sultry an involuntary state of being, or must the state of sultry be induced by the female?

There is absolutely zero state of passionate desire of Tiffany for Les in that second panel.

Even if later in the week, we learn Tiffany was only getting ready for a little bit of snuggle bunny necking, something she does have experience with, it aint gonna do no good, it will be too little too late.

Nothing wrong with sex and “being a slut” (as someone said), you prudes.

There’s A LOT wrong with slut shaming, though.

It’s amazing how today’s strip has brought out the psychologist in all of us. Great artwork by Greg, and a gentle reminder not to take any of the characters for granted…

I enjoy reading the comments and making a few comments myself. I understand that Tiff was drawn, with a little bit more weight, for a bit. I never thought that made her heavy. In my mind it put her squarely into the upper portion of average. It didn’t make her heavy. It was a change for her. It looked to me to be about an additional 20 or so pounds.Les isn’t that bad of a guy either. OH, neither is the Jock. At least you have a pretty good idea of what you are getting with them. In fact, if these were real people, the two that I would avoid and only maintain a casual relationship with would be Bernice and Gunther. Bernice can be downright mean and self centered. Gunther just gets wrapped up in neurosis from time to time and becomes unpredictable.

So… now LES is going to start the smart thing we all suggested many weeks ago! Right on, then.

I admit that when I saw Les mention a “crazy idea” to Tif, my thinking was leading toward a different proposition, especially when she said yes. Plus, the way it was ambiguous if Tiffany was holding her top, or, starting to do something else. (Her self esteem is low right now.) But, it seems Les ahas scheme to take his mother, and, impress everyone (including Tiffany.)

It appears That Mrs. Fogerty’s planners as a counselor were correct. She didn’t do a very good job of returning Tiffany to a place of self respect.

Okay, this in an interesting development. Of course, after 2-days this could mean anything.

@LUANN!1212 I would characterize the Les-character’s cherry stem behavior as “slutty,” as that is the type of person it was aimed to attract. It showed he had no respect for the Tiffany-character, except for one “aspect,” and so far he may have read her correctly. I hope this behavior is merely another transitional state into a better place. [Yes, MORDY with Gunther, OK?]

Regarding where GnK are taking this entertainment strip. (It is supposed to be entertaining, isn’t it?) How is seemingly promiscuous behavior between two of their characters entertaining in this venue? This isn’t 9 Chickweed Lane after all. Are GnK going to enthrall us with their version of an anti-Luann/Quill romance? Do we really expect Archie & Veronica to appear here?

This goes to my comment yesterday about respect for the GnK team. Will the Dynamic Duo now be the The Dark Knight?

Options in comic strips are limited. Greg wants to show us that Tiffany is a little turned on by her misread of Les’s intentions, which surprised me. Since the artist can’t do that with a facial expression, he must have her make an exaggerated physical gesture. So why depict her that way? She is still seeking any kind of affirmation from others, rather than work on herself. One hour of therapy doesn’t quite do it. If Les were also interested, that would be tragic.

Am I the only one that thinks some of the commenters here get a read-ahead to this strip? Or exhibit a prescience denied to the rest of us. MORDOCK999 for one, at least when it comes to Gunther. Mayhap SHERIFFMORDECAI toys with us in an alter-avatar?

Missing the obvious. The new Tiff is wanting to get back to her fighting weight for her next bout with Annie. Less was looking like a home gym.

Wonder what the picture Les is looking at shows? Old Tiffany?

@MORDOCK999 Well I’ve only been right once (I forget when), but I’ll go out on another limb here and predict that Gunther will be brought into this arc very soon. Recall that GnK, almost as an aside, introduced Gunther (angrily) into the scam confrontation set-up and was brushed off by Tiff. Then Gunther and Les were frictionally thrown into the shared digs milieu.

This is, potentially, a perfect storm for a Gunther/Les falling out on a romantic and sibling level. Would that be interesting? Maybe. If you like dog fights. Or Rumble Royal in “pro-wrestling”.

Alternately, a potential set-up to a Gunther/Tiff/Les relationship struggle – could be disastrous!

P.S. I know this will not sway you, but I had to say it. :o)

Sadly Tiff is doing what a lot of people do when they feel unloved and unwanted.

Oh my…. the comments thus far….. fairly extreme (ie “slutty” as well as others). My take is a bit different:

1. It appears that Tiffany read the innuendo into Les’ phrase yesterday.

2. It appears that Tiffany has some genuine fondness for Les, and (sorry Mordy) perhaps does so romantically. We have seen that before in Tiffany.

3. But, just because she “shows her shoulder” does not mean she is going to be willing to copulate with Les. It to me simply means she has a romantic interest of some degree.

4. In terms of the “list”…. it will be interesting to hear Les’s plan. Will it be a good plan, a dangerous plan, or a silly plan?

5. I just really hope that Gunther does not pay a visit and that there is a “dual between suitors” between he and Les. That would be, to me, rather tiresome. And, I still feel Tiffany is better off without romance until she figures out some of her own life issues in a more successful and concrete fashion first. She has plenty of time and plenty of other potential suitors to meet. Neither Les nor Gunther may be a good match.

A lot of the “romantic scenes and dialogue” here remind me of the show “Three’s Company”. Everything is constantly innuendo and double entendre. It appears to get the troops riled up in the comments section, but I am not sure if this growing presence of “romantic innuendo” is a sustainable strategy for the Luann comic. We shall see.

When you get used to guys only wanting the one thing from you… She’s pleasantly surprised with his last question. Hope the new and improved Tiffany continues upward with her development, I’m rooting for a bad girl to fall good <3

I’m sorry, but I have no problem supposing Knox will want the names in order to blackmail…his mother, I guess. I was going to say blackmail the guests for money, but of course that makes no sense…

Hey, Tiff’s an adult now. Remember adults? They can have sex without permission. I’m just beginning to like her and the second panel here is a big part of it. I’m waiting for Luann to become a woman.

In the third panel, Les looks less sinister from the side – where we don’t see that disgusting scrap of a beard.

Tiff is still not totally in command of her self esteem as she claimed to be (to Mrs. Fogarty). it would quite interesting if Les (this time) stayed focused on his task and rebuffed her advances. I guess it’s like training a dog, you discourage the unwanted behavior and reward the good.

@TYGE: A counselor is not a magician or wizard and doesn’t have magic potions and wands. Counselors can lead someone is a particular direction and help them see where they’ve been (and maybe even to understand why). But it’s up to the person consulting a counselor to change direction.

Why would Tiffany say No to giving Les back the list? It is his list.

So here’s a new theory about Tiffany’s actions today -My apologies to anyone who may already have posited this – I haven’t read all 200+ comments.

We know that Tiffany has a reputation as a flirt, and Luann has even suggested in that Tiffany has gone further than to flirt, and with quite a few boys at that – namely “the football team”. But we readers have never been given any indication is that such activity on Tiffany’s part is anything more than gossip and conjecture by her classmates. I think she is most likely a virgin who happens to tease big and talk big, even though she no doubt attracts a lot of male attention. What if she previously them all, in the end, because that was one of the “rules” she picked up from her father? Or if that was the reason she gave either herself or potential lovers for not “going all the way?” What if she was ready to accept what she assumed were Les’s sexual advances in today’s strip because some part of her saw that as a way to prove that she was no longer seeking her father’s approval? She wouldn’t be the first young person to get sexually active as a way of rebelling against parental expectations.

Must keep this short…too many words already written. Panel #1: arm behind her back gives Les an enhanced, full frontal view of her assets. Panel #2: An unsure, nervous, slightly seductive baring of her shoulder. Panel#3: Relief and a sheepish smile. Virginity saved once again. I believe (not at all, humbly) that Greg knows that there are many of us who like Tiffany and he enjoys taunting us.

Tiffany is a woman and would like to have a boyfriend. Who are we to say the Les wouldn’t turn out to be both a good friend and a boyfriend. Since when is pushing down her neckline an indicator of slutty behavior? The senior generation used to hike up their skirts and cross their legs; the last generation wears mini skirts with high heels. Give these kids a break!

Les shaved between the 2nd and 3rd panel?

Question: Was there ever a mutual attraction set up between these two before? I kinda remember Les talking guy stuff about her to Gunther but I don’t remember her showing any affinity for him. I could have missed it or forgot I guess.

I think that Tiff is completely honest with her men….at least she doesn’t leave them hanging.

Okay a few things here.

1) I’m already seeing a LOT of contempt for Gunther today and he hasn’t even shown up in this Arc yet. And If G & K were to put to a vote as to who should wind up with Tiffany, Les would win in a landslide. Folks have heaped praise today on how “mature” and how morally superior he is to Gunther. Which in IMHO Ironic because for all intents and purposes Les has turned INTO Gunther this week. I mean Look, Les is polite, helpful, and (so far) a perfect gentleman. That’s “Gunther,” folks. Add His “Uhhhhs” and “Umms,” one could substitute Gunther for Les today and not miss a beat.

2) Is Tiffany coming on to Les in panel 2? I say YES. And Unlike many have stated today, Tiffany is NOT “resigned” to have sex with Les but looking forward to it with a sultry “Yes.” To Me, Tiffany’s actions in panel 3 represent an slightly embarrassed disappointment. It’s only Tuesday. We’ll see if the rest of the week brings subtle hints from Tiffany while Les continues to “miss” them.

Les will either be Incredibly, Unbelievably Focused on the “Mission at hand,” or No longer interested in Tiffany for whatever reason, or playing it so cool that he’s practically a block of ice as he slowly but surely reels Tiff in…..,

@SACTOSYLVIA: I thought Tiffany’s issue with her father was not that she was not able to meet his expectations or rules, but that he so rarely spent any time with her that she was always trying to attract his attention by being a big ‘winner’ in life, like being a cheerleader or a winner in a beauty contest, or what. A lot of women think that is what is needed to get their father’s attention, but if he is just one of those people who shouldn’t really have been a parent (just doesn’t relate to kids), or is such a workaholic he doesn’t have time for family, then it doesn’t matter what Tiffany does. She would still not succeed in getting his undivided attention. If I’m right in this, Tiffany isn’t rebelling against his rules if she becomes more sexually active. She’s just giving up on him and trying to find attention from a different man…

Well for what it’s worth, I think they’d make a really cute couple. But yeah…to soon

Late entry to comments: What is the significance of Tiff’s pose in panel 1? Seems to me that pose arches the back, raises the “chest” and emphasizes the bosom. If that is the case then Tiffany has totally slid into “anti-Pouty-Pink” mode (we can’t say slut mode here, shhhh).

“Ah!” says it all. Tiffany senses an assault on the Ann Awful fortress, one from a different direction.

IMO, a lot of people are mis-reading Tiffany today. Uncertain at first of Les’s intentions, she at once in panel 2 concludes the worst and with great sorrow prepares to accommodate him, and to fall back into a beaten-down, degraded sense of self-(non-)worth. But in panel 3 she suddenly realizes he does not intend to compromise her and with a sense of a great burden being lifted reacts positively to what he really wants of her.

In short, she runs from self-loathing to self-worth (whether Les has any idea of what has just happened, or not)….

People, the characters in this strip GROW UP. Something evidently many of those remarking in here haven’t accomplished. If you want stasis, then read Zits.

Greg has yet to draw the character who is a good match for Tiffany.

It could be that Tiffany starts dating Les making it ackward for her dad and Anne. Which would force some issues. Thanksgiving would be fun.

Ok, this is MY read of this. Evans has never portrayed Tiffany as promiscuous-the closest any character in the strip came to implying it was a line from Luann during Tiffany’s weight gain-isolation phase. She’s a flirt, obsessed with her appearance, but not ‘loose’. So what’s this about? Note that Evans has Les facing AWAY from Tiffany in the second panel…so she has no clues to his facial expression, which is definitely not his old leer. And, note that Les asked Tiffany for a favor, not the other way around. The only way that ‘off the shoulder’ gesture works in this day’s strip is if Tiffany WANTS to be intimate with Les. If she’d asked Les for a favor, the gesture would simply be typical Tiffany, using her appearance. Evans threw us a curve here…and as a side note, is ‘Luann’ in danger of becoming a secondary character in her own strip? Think of Snoopy and the Smurfs..

Hmmm..".the only line that describes the 100 responses above about Tiffany was coined by Shakespeare…..‘Much Ado about Nothing’….

Tiffany is the typical blond sleeze who tries to get every guy in sight from every other girl in the room….she has oversized boobs, overdone makeup, skimpy clothes and over-teased hair. Not to mention ….too often….her conversation is always limited to ‘herself’, her problems, her possessions and her love interests. Guys fall like tons of bricks at her feet yet……she goes after many more. LOL….she is FULL of HERSELF. She needs no one else to make her happy.

Like Peter Pan, she will never grow up!

Look around you…in almost every fairly large group, there is a Tiffany. In almost every family with more girls than boys…….or only one girl…..there is a Tiffany. Even in a fair sized group of middle-age/ senior women, there is still a Tiffany. Tiffany is a female version of Peter Pan. He never grew up and neither does Tiffany.

Tiffany’s always get the guy….and a hefty number of the huge amount of comments could be construed to be sexualized in phrasing etc. That’s the Tiffany- effect. Lol

IMO, Tiffany is a nice girl who is lost in a family of workaholics who chase every opportunity to make a buck but are glazing their eyes with greed rather than seeing the beautiful daughter who badly needs a hug of affection and a ’Great job, Tiff. She needs a hug!!

Ann is dating Tiffany’s father, doesn’t that make Tiff and Les step-siblings? And still, she was going to have sex with him!! Isn’t this awkward?
