Being trapped under a pile of cats is the perfect excuse to not do anything. Oh, you need me to cover for someone at work? Normally I’d say yes, but I’m trapped by cats, sorry.
It has been a while since I have posted a get to know you type of question and I know there are new people reading the comments all the time, so here is a place we’re you can tell a bit about yourself and learn about others here. Everyone is welcome to comment even if you have never posted before.
I am 51 and live in West Michigan with my kitty Maxie who is 17. I found BCN pretty early on, at the end of the 1st Christmas special when someone on another site I read, Comics I Don’t Understand mentioned it in an end of year thread on new comics they started reading that year. I fell in love with it right from the start and read all the strips pretty quickly, which was a lot easier back then. I have read all the original strips numerous time. I am not sure I can pick a favorite character because they all have something to love about them. If pressed I think I would pick Lupin because of his adventureness, but on a different day I might say someone else.
“You and Hector relax for a bit, Tre-C. I’m going to go into the office and check my messages.” Megan said as she sauntered off to where her work area was concealed. She had to be sure neither Jimmy- nor any other prying eyes (such as vendors)- could see what they’d never in two lifetimes understand. Megan, you see, was a fully “networked” cat… and had been for a lot longer than one would think. Way back in her past, before she was introduced to the Internet, Megan used- and was very fond of- carrier pigeons. They were reliable, didn’t complain, and most of them had a decent sense of humor (this, she had determined, was a crucial characteristic of those she worked with). And early in her business the pigeons worked quite well, once she had worked out the details of “the arrangement”. But as soon as she used the instant, world-wide, and potentially mass messaging available to those “online”, the pigeons went into semi-retirement (Megan didn’t ever completely abandon a resource, however).
Alice – the locket’s contents are explained in the 2015 Halloween special. As Georgia has stated it can’t be replicated in the news strips, you can go read it on her website without risking spoilers! It starts the page after this https://www.breakingcatnews.com/comic/its-fuzzy-blanket-season/
Late 60’s, retired but I do cat-sitting in my retirement community in Central Florida. We have 9 cats inside and 3 outside. Favorite Character is Beatrix, and I’d like to see more of her. True confessions: I cried for a week after reading Shelter News. CatMomm
A good cat pile is nice. Now that everyone is getting along. I now get held down by a Weim, a Great Dane and 3 of the 4 cats. No matter what happens I will not be cold this winter. Flat as a pancake but not cold.
I posted this from Georgia yesterday, but late so I’m posting again to make sure everyone sees it. So if you haven’t seen the 2015 Halloween Special starring Tillie, look it up on the BCN Website under the Past Reports tab. Go down to Holliday Specials. Incidentally, it also explains the missing pen as we clearly see the robber mice running through the walls with a stolen pen. Okay, here’s Georgia, "Georgia Dunn – Breaking Cat NewsLast month I shared the bad news that I will not be putting the 2015 Halloween special into newspapers. It was a hard decision, but to make it fit I would have had to shorten/edit it down. I did not want to change it or lose any details. It would be hard to pace it out; many of the strips would have ended on sad notes without another panel to bring the mood back up.
So, what does this mean? Well, the Halloween events of 2015 happened in the BCN world. They still exist on the original website, their run on GoComics, and possibly (hopefully!) in a future BCN book one day. (Not the next one, it ends before those strips… But perhaps with luck and good fortune, it will be in one after that??) What else does it mean? Well, we’ve got to introduce our favorite ghost reporter to newspapers another way! …Yes, Tillie will be back next month! In a NEW BCN Halloween adventure, thanks to some lost footage Burt discovered from the 2016 station break!
If you’ve never read the 2015 BCN Halloween special, nothing’s stopping you! You can find it here, and please enjoy it whenever you feel like getting into the spirit! http://www.breakingcatnews.com/…/breaking-cat-news-hallowe…/ I’m announcing all of this early to prepare readers who may have been looking forward to this special in newspapers. You can wait until October to binge this, or you can read it right now! Whichever you wish! I’d definitely recommend catching up on it, because I plan to pack a lot of fun goodies from it into this new special!"
. . . what do you do, when your “cuckoo” doesn’t “coo-coo”? Call “the man”! :) https://www.facebook.com/GeorgiaDunnStudio/photos/a.447790771933015/2082138188498257/?type=3&theater
Another of the male minority here. I am 75 and have been following BCN since it was first on Gocomics. My wife and Ilive in The Portland (OR) area with a very talkative Tortie named Tana. Tana was abandoned in a parking lot in Butte, Montana and jumped in my truck when I left (I had already checked for ownership). We have two Westies (MeggieMac and BonnyLinn) and a talkative Scottie named GiliBean. All are great friends. I always read the comments and enjoy all of you.I love all the characters and look forward to those yet to appear in this format. Georgia is a very talented artist and has mastered this field of storytelling. It’s wonderful to feel a part of this journey.
Ha! Panel two is like our house at the moment. Not fuzzy blankets, but clean warm towels. Our old cat has been impatiently waiting all morning for the clothes dryer to play her favourite tune, then she was on them faster than The Flash. Our “Tommy” has been trying to sidle onto them as well, only to be rebuffed. Madam has now gone for a snack, and the lad has managed to ooze into the warmth.
People on BCN have expressed a helpless feeling at inability to help Florence victims directly. You CAN help. Go donate blood. There is a severe shortage in southeastern NC, and all blood drives are cancelled temporarily because workers are otherwise busy with rescue and flooding. I volunteer at blood drives. Please donate asap. Blood can be transported to areas in need. Thanks, Biskits
Oh, with all the talk of apple cider the last few days, I wanted to share my recipe for “Pumpkin Juice.” I get a half gallon of apple juice or cider and add a teaspoon or so of pumpkin pie spice and 4 to 8 ounces of canned solid pack pumpkin. Let it sit in the fridge overnight to let the flavors mingle and get to know each other. Before serving, heat it up while stirring and let it simmer until it is good and hot. Serve it in mugs and top it with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon, and a cinnamon stick (or two!) It’s a flavor explosion in your mouth.
63 years old, live in Colton, Ca. with my cubby hubby and our feline despot Her Rotundity, Princess Jingle Belle Katz and her apprentice (the foster kitten) Marvynne T’challa de Silkie, also known as Kamikazie Kitten. We hope to find Marvynne a forever home before she drives Jingle to distraction with her constant sneak attacks! We found her outside, alone and crying for attention. We think she was about a week to ten days old, as her eyes were open and she was beginning to toddle around. Now she is almost three months old, due to be spayed and possessed of more energy than we (including Jingle) are equipped to deal with!
I just adore Tommy in this one. He’s indefatigable! Or, from Sophie’s pov, incorrigible! “As a follow-up question, would you like to be best friends?” Sophie is going to end up with a BFF whether she likes it or not . . . =) kind of like the Orb!
I live in Chicago. I am 67 and just forced into retirement. The good part is that at last I can move. My beloved black alley cat, Ericka, died of old age some years ago and I moved into a new condo. My first question, of course, was are cats allowed. I was told yes and did not learn otherwise until too late. So sad to have a home without a cat or two or three. I am thinking of moving back to Michigan, maybe Grand Rapids, if anyone has any suggestions for a safe, walkable area where I can find a cat-friendly condo. I walk everywhere in chicago and haven’t driven a car in years.
