Anchor cat appears to be Carl’s soldier friend, and Angus is in the photo with the ring stain. http://www.breakingcatnews.com/comic/breaking-cat-news-halloween-special-part-eight/
So we have Carl’s sailor friend, in his civvies (WHY did I not notice he’s dressed as a boatman any of the times I reread the archives?), and the Scottish Fold from the 1968 photo, answering the question of were the three new cats Quinn cats or were they the first residents of the shelter. Any bets on whether the remaining three cats from the photo montage will show up?
Ok, so now know which photo Argyle is from in the original special. http://www.breakingcatnews.com/comic/breaking-cat-news-halloween-special-part-eight/. It’s the “Local Heiress Opens Shelter” photo, the black guy is holding Argyle. Maybe we’ll get his ghost and a name for him. Or maybe we’ll get to see him alive.
@Robin Harwood was right yesterday about the ear/hat in the round window not being Carl. It was Angus, I think. Radio cat’s hat covers more of her head.
Aww! I love the Scottish Fold reporter! Don’t want to get your kilt in a wad! Ha! So adorable. And Tabitha is wearing a different outfit!! I love it! Brings out her lovely cinnamon complexion.
For some reason, possibly the perspective, I thought at first that the cat in panel two was a certain kitten who hasn’t yet been introduced. I was wondering how she had made an appearance now, just before I re-read the panel and realized that it was, indeed, Tabitha.
PS: I love Agatha hugging Angus in the last panel.
“Why do they always say that?” What’s that, Kitten?” “We’ll meet again… It’s sort of like an admission of failure- you know, ‘I didn’t get you THIS time, but you just wait…” Tre-C was walking to where the device had landed, shaking her head. Megan replied to original question; “Probably just in the belief it will keep their adversary nervous. Really, our Mr. Nibbles is a small time operator. I would just prefer he not slide into the big time. but if he ever does…” Megan was walking to meet Tre-C on the far side of the room. She stopped and turned back towards Maxie; “And thank YOU, kind stranger… seriously. That sound was killing me.” “You’re welcome. It really didn’t bother me that much- don’t know why. But I could see what it was doing to you and the little lady over there.” “Excuse me?” Tre-C turned sharply toward Maxie. The huge Tom apologized; “Oh, I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to offend. I’m just a big, dumb country boy and you, well, you look sorta’ like a kitten from my view…” Megan grinned and thought to herself, “big, yes, country, maybe. But dumb? I don’t think so…” The three walked up and examined the pieces against the wall. Megan read the label which was still intact; “’Pawzoff cat repellent.’ With an amplifier added to the circuit- right here. Say what you will about Nibbles, dumb he is not.” Megan picked up the modified circuit and put in her pocket. “I’ll have a look at this later. Right now, let’s get some coffee. I know a great place not far from here, and the rats will be cleaning this up anyway.” “Don’t drink it as a rule, but I’ll come along for the talk.” “ Cool”, Megan said, then added with a smile; “follow me. We have a lot to talk about…”
Now we really need a cast of characters list! I love Angus the Scottish Fold but who is the Anchor and who is the other reporter? Obviously from the photos in Episode 8 of the 2015 special but there were no names then and names are best for keeping track of who’s who. And is Carl busy taking photos elsewhere?
Late at night when I wake up I often hear what sounds like a distant radio broadcast. I’ve been writing it off to the auditory hallucinations that accompany hearing loss, but now I know it’s really RCO doing its nightly news.
“We’re not quite live”… I guffawed and coffee went all over my desk! Well done Georgia. Growing up, my parents got all their news over the CBS radio network so this is really great! Serious news cats would not let a little thing like being Spirits stop them!
I love Angus’s accent. I hear Scotty from Star Trek in my head. I literally wake up thinking about having to read the next installment. And thank you Georgia for the reassurance from Tillie about Pucky. He has a lot more reporting to do in this realm.
Finally, is Tabitha angry because Tillie is a Ghost? Or, is it just because its another female that needs to be vanquished?
Sir Figaro needs to calm his housemate down a little. Speaking of Sir Figaro, remember the other day when we were speculating on how he and Tabitha know Spanish? Looking back at part eight of the 2015 Special, see where the Woman and Ceiling Woman are talking about how the Quinn cat shelter was started for lost cats and Ceiling Woman immediately turns to Sir Figaro and says “Fig!” Could that mean that Sir Figaro and maybe Tabitha were lost kitties who acquired their language skills before Ceiling Woman adopted them?
Good morning and happy Friday/TGIF, orbsters and orbabies!
I wonder if all of Freddie’s past pets haunt the big pink house, or if it’s just a select few. I wonder how Elvis and Lupin are faring downstairs, and if Sir Figaro Newton (Ole! Caramba!) (Sorry, my keyboard doesn’t do Spanish!) will join the action.
Things I ponder while getting the Woman dressed: will the Orbsters who read Angus’s lines in Montgomery Scott’s voice end up with a slightly different perspective the next time they hear the line, “He’s dead, Jim”?
Now we know how it was so easy for the boys to set up their initial BCN Network. (Yeah, I know what the N stands for, so I’m being redundant!) The infrastructure was already in place for radio broadcasts.
It’s amazing how many broadcasting are going on simultaneously and they didn’t even know each other’s was there. Burt will need to do double quick link up’s in the future.
Jasper is getting used to being a tripod for now. But being bored is not his strong suit. My father came over to visit yesterday and he almost came unglued. He was so happy to see a new face. He usually visits my parents house every day for a few hours but with a hurt leg that is out. When we go out he’ll hobble a little and then lay down then hobble and repeat. There are no quick trips outside because he doesn’t want to come right back in. Dually my Weim is happy because he gets to play frisbee more while Jasper rests. At least those 2 are enjoying themselves somewhat.
Kittens are fine, growing, happy, psychotic….you know. Normal.
I had to order a large drop cage this AM. Momma cat, aka Trixie, has returned. With 4 new kittens. ARRRGH! She was hit and miss after we brought in Elvis and Lupin, gone for days at a time. I should have trapped her right off. Damn, damn, damn.
Here’s the really bad part. They are so friggin CUTE. No, no, I did NOT say that. A ginger, a tortie, a B/W and a standard tabby. Apparently Trixie really gets around.
Deep sigh. We will trap the lot of them and bring them in. Bathroom confinement to settle for a week or 2 then off to the vet. Spaying does not impact the ability to nurse, so we will keep them until they are weaned and fixed. We already have volunteers panting to grab the ginger and the tortie. Mom will likely be released back outside. Unlikely she can be domesticated. The other 2?
My impression is that there are at least four different language traditions in Scotland. Some Scots and migrants from England speak something close to BBC English, possibly with some influence from Lowland or Broad Scots, the language of Robbie Burns (and Angus). In the north of Scotland and on some of the islands, there are still some people who speak Scots Gaelic, which is related to Irish Gaelic. In the Shetland and Orkney Islands there are probably still a few that speak or at least know a Norse language or speak Scots with Norse influences since these islands belonged to Norway for a long time.
Dear andylit, Trixie must have red patches. You did not mention white paws so I presume none. That makes the ginger a male, the tortie a female, the b/w and tabby either sex. Daddy should be a b/ w too. Both trickier and daddy carry solid.
