Hey, democracy was only meant for certain people.

TrumpubliCONs know they can not win if everyone enjoys the right to vote that is supposed to be guaranteed by the 14th, 19th, 24th and 26th Amendments to the Constitution.

But there are many who wish to return to the bad old days before those Amendments, to a Constitution that, as originally written by wealthy owners of lands and slaves, declared that voting would only be for white, male landowners, and an African American slave would be counted as 3/5 of a white person.

As a result of efforts to suppress the votes of those the elitists deem undesirable, coupled with outright fraud, election tampering and foreign meddling with our elections, we have a situation in which the people of the United States have voted in four out of the last five presidential elections to put Democrats in the White House, yet the Democrat was only allowed to take office twice (and only if he won, not merely the most votes, but outright majorities).

The people of the United States cast more votes for DEMOCRATS for president, Senate and House, yet control none of them.

While not every office should be filled by election, for those offices for which an election is held, there is no rational or moral justification for anyone other than the person who got the most votes being declared the winner.

I’m sorry, if you think like me I can’t allow you to vote.

The notion of “one person, one vote” is a cruel joke. That’s especially true in the U. S. Senate, where senators representing as few as 17% of America’s voters could, in theory, muster a majority.

A computer server crucial to a lawsuit against Georgia election officials was quietly wiped clean by its custodians just after the suit was filed, The Associated Press has learned.

The server’s data was destroyed July 7 by technicians at the Center for Elections Systems at Kennesaw State University, which runs the state’s election system. The data wipe was revealed in an email sent last week from an assistant state attorney general to plaintiffs in the case that was later obtained by the AP.

I’m surprised Kobach hasn’t tried this here in our little blue dot of Lawrence, Ks. The Repugs have already gerrymandered us into a weird long strip of red but otherwise have left us alone. Not so for our brothers and sisters in Dodge City where they have closed the only polling place in town under guise of a blatant lie and are forcing people to drive miles out of town to vote. When asked about it by Rachel Maddow’s people Kobach and the county clerks just keep circle-jerking the questions around the room.

I hope everyone saw Oprah’s entire speech while stumping for Stacey Abrams a couple days ago. It was incredible and so inspiring in her retelling the story of someone who was denied the right to vote, a man was sent out to 3 different polling places and walked 18 miles in total from dawn to dusk, only to be told the Election Day was over. Unfortunately, we are still seeing this kind of thing today. In Dodge City, Ks, most voters are Hispanic. They had 1 polling place for 13,000. Now they have to go out of town to vote, with no public transportation to get there. The place they had in Dodge City was perfectly accessible and even has things on the calendar days before and after the election.

Utter nonsense.

There’s a lot to be said for having a National I.D. card. ( I know, I know, a certain faction hates the idea ). Here in Ecuador, everyone has a cedula ( National I.D. card ). which you use for practically everything – including voting.But here’s the interesting thing. When you vote, you get a voter i.d. card back !

It has a color picture of yourself that matches your cedula, and has all your pertinent information, and the date you voted. You can encase it in plastic, just like any i.d. and carry it as your additional identification.

To qualify for many government programs, your voter card is required, along with your cedula. It pays to vote !

Republicans are openly cheating in Georgia, Kansas, Texas, North Dakota and in virtually every state.

Vote out every lying , racist, sexist, thieving Republican and put some checks and balances on crooked liar Trump who should be in prison.

They have promised to cut your Medicare and Social Security to pay for their tax breaks for billionaires policy.

Kleptocratic authoritarianism – rule by mafia – is on the move all around the world. Led by Putin of Russia, Xi of China, and Trump’s spineless ‘republicans’. Corruption and repression.

Resist. Push back. Vote Trump party out at every level of government. Do it for the future. Do it for your children.

Notice that the only explained claim of voter suppression is voter ID. It’s an insult to minorities to imply that they’re not smart enough to get a free government ID or to carry one like the ENTIRE REST OF THE NATION. Your argument is silly.

Predictably, there is now a racist robocaller in Georgia, mimicking Oprah’s voice, who is a white nationalist. Think we have come a long way? Think again.

There are many groups who have a difficult time getting voter ID. These include college students, elderly, minorities, handicapped, poor people, etc. What do they all have in common? They tend to not vote Republican.

I was a frequent reader of Mike Royko during his Chicago Daily News days. Voter fraud was an occasional topic of his writings because of the phrase “Vote early and vote often” having been popularized in Chicago. One story concerned ten voters who lived at the same address which happened to be an empty lot. The history of the address was not provided. So, did the lot once contain a residential building thus indicating that the voting records were not purged, or did the lot never contain a residential building in which case voter fraud would be highly likely? A fellow employee told me about a relative who lived in a suburb of Chicago but went to Chicago to vote against Harold Washington. I have moved a few times and have reregistered each time I have moved. I hope my previous, now obsolete, voter registration records have been purged. In a previous election, an elderly gentleman and a younger person accompanying him were ahead of me in the check-in line. There was something wrong with either his registration or his proof of identity because the election officer questioned him about the generational suffix of “Jr.”. He answered “Do I look like a junior”? The elderly gentleman was allowed to vote. I always carry my voter registration card with me when I vote. When I went to vote early, I proudly showed my voter registration card to the person at the check-in table. She told me “We do not need that, we have the computer”.

Mitch McConnell has pledged to cut Social Security and Medicare. He has said so publicly. Google it under a news source other than Fox or other right wing media. There is a reason he is very unpopular. Many are afraid they will be screwed in the future as Social Security and Medicare are cut while the rich enjoy tax cuts. It is a fear and dread based on believing what McConnell has pledged to do. Paul Ryan has said the same though he is on his way out.

totally OT but just had to say this. Watching Korean TV this morning saw a short news story on smart phones. They have an iPhone selling in Asia only that bends. You can strap it on your wrist like a bracelet. Then we have an iPad that is also very bendable, just like the iPhone, again sold only in Asia. I will be looking at both of these products next spring when we make our annual trip to Korea. Whole lot of electronic devices can be purchased thruout asia, but can’t be found in the US

And now, we are also hearing there are racist robocalls in Florida, mimicking Andrew Gillum. I sure wouldn’t want to be on the side of these racist punks supporting the GOP. How disgusting.

I hope everyone who can vote, gets out and does so. If you fail to vote; in my mind, you have no right to complain about the result.

People who suppress the vote are cowards, and disgraces to the United States of America—and to people.

Yawn. Only 17 states require photo ID and of those all but 2 allow the voter to use a provisional ballot if they are not found on the rolls.

The polling companies use algorithms and exit polls to judge the winner of any certain election. That they were wrong about our last presidential election is worrying. …

This is a lie. Trudeau has been on this tack for too long. Asking someone to prove who they are to vote is just common sense. You need ID for everything else in life. The myth of minority inability to get ID is rascist. Those who say that blacks are unable to get ID are insulting blacks.
