We had 40 degrees and rain here in Michigan Saturday. Then Sunday the wind picked up (it picked up so much that it started picking up other stuff as well), and the temperature dropped back into the teens.
Bless floofy, cheerful Tommyâs heart! Well if I was wearing a massive, thick fur coat, Iâd be sweating too! Not to mention a thick, fluffy tail of fur! The rainbow is sooo beautiful Tommy! Can you taste it?
I know it was a part of Sunday World â but I hope Lupin checked to make sure all the spilled coffee was mopped up before putting his paw down on the news desk.
Yeah, Michigan, same here in Illinois; Satâ was rain and 35â and Sunâs was so windy I was surprised we didnât have more tree damage and the temperature dropped from 35â to 20â before noon!!! And we clocked winds up to 43mph and gusts up to 56mph.
We seem to be going the other way. Saturday was in the 80âs; yesterday, we struggled to get out of the 60âs; this morning ⊠yep, hovering near freezing. The South â where you CAN experience all four seasons in a single week (sometimes, you can run through them in a single day).
30 degrees with wind at 28 mph sustained and up to 60 mph gusts expected today. Birds and squirrels are chowing down on the seed/peanuts I threw out. Lunaâs cat-bird seat is the window seat with the feeders about 18 inches away outside. She can see them but they canât see her (one-way film on the windows).
Happy Funday, everyone! We have now and blowing snow and high winds this morning. The temperature is going to drop all day. Blech. However, the conversation between Lupin and Tommy is lifting my spirits.
Iâm confused. how can Tommyâs jacket be open in the front in panel 5 when thereâs no sign of a zipper or buttons in panels 2 & 3, or am I missing it? I just went back to the original and itâs sort of the same. & I discovered (âcause I forgot) that the naming of Beatrice and Elvisâ interview with her came AFTER this weather report. Did anyone catch that??
I love rainbows, but not Iâve got the Muppet Movie song in my head. Iâve got little kids taste (mostly) when it comes to movies. I used to borrow a cousin or two when a new one came out and i was embarrassed to go alone. Now, who cares what anyone thinks!
Seriously, in this part of New England, Maine, we got another 8 inches of snow on top of the 103 inches accumulated. My husband keeps track of these things. We canât see outside much unless we are upstairs.
It sure has returned. We finally saw the sun again. The rain has stopped for now (not trying to jinx anything here). Itâs like a swamp everywhere in the yard. I have to keep towels by all the doors because the dogs throw up rooster tails when they run and the undercarriage gets really dirty. Now we just need a couple weeks of dry weather and all will be well again.
Hello, All The Orb!!! Iâve been away since Thursday evening when my computer refused to wake up after a power outage. Very odd feeling to be cut off. I love the comments here and I know Iâll never be able to catch up!!! Incidentally, I my computer is still in a coma and Iâm at the library. I take my computer to the doctor tomorrow to see if itâs terminal.
I have a vet coming to the house today, so Sky doesnât have to go to the vetâs office. Heâs had heart disease for almost ten years, and I am very grateful for all that time, but heâs now also got kidney disease, diagnosed early Feb, and heâs taken a turn for the worse. I let the little feral who lived in my backyard for years live too long, when it was clear that he had intestinal obstruction. He wouldnât let me touch him, and I kept saying"heâs better, heâs better", and putting it off another day. Skyâs hardly eaten today, yesterday, ditto, when I just sat with him in my lap all day, holding him and crying. I know everyone here understands. How am I going to sleep without him snuggled up to me?
Craziest thing around here! We have lots of white pines, and with the cold, constant wind from the west the last two days, the branches of ALL the trees are bent toward the east, even the needles!
Itâs been calm and sunny since this morning, and the trees are still looking like theyâre dealing with the wind. Very few broke off. Ma Nature is a formidable gal! âŒâ„âŒ
For a five year period starting in 1972, I was haunted/attended/watched over by âguardian rainbowsâ that appeared when I would face a grueling, agonizingly difficult decision. Theyâd appear pretty much the instant I had voiced my decision out loud.
The last one was an instance of âcloud iridescenceâ which I later heard are called âdragon cloudsâ. It was spectacular, but it also felt like a firm âgoodbyeâ. I havenât had the experience since.
I am gobsmacked by the fact that I spent three hours in the rain waiting to go through a firefighterâs receiving line and that the line was just as long when I left. I am annoyed by the guy who stood his toddler on the bumper of the black crepe-draped fire truck, then had the audacity to ask Jeremyâs brothers to turn on the flashing lights to make for a better picture. I am grateful for Jeremyâs station commander, who noticed, through his own grief, my wheelchair-bound wife having muscle spasms and escorted us inside and then to the front of the receiving line. I was delighted to bring even a fleeting smile to the face of my grieving cousin, who hadnât realized I will happily drop everything and drive 700 miles for her. And I have discovered that the most gut-wrenching sound, ever, is âAmazing Graceâ being played on bagpipes.
I never want to experience the past two days ever again.
Today was Conanâs third chemo treatment; it seemed to go well, but it was a long, grueling day for all of us; we arrived at Auburnâs small animal clinic by noon ⊠we didnât leave until about 6:30. It was almost 8 PM when we got home. Thank the Lord, we only have to do that once a month; all the other treatments can be done locally.
Iâve only just gotten on here today and will read the comments in a while; itâs been a rough day. Our Cinnamon passed this morning (he was 14âor 80 in human years). So hoping the Orbâs passed-through-the-Rainbow-Bridge pet-children (all varietiesâcats, dogs, fish, bunnies, etc.) give him a warm welcome.
Heâd been ill for about a year, although we never did get any idea what was wrong. The vet tested for thyroid issues, but the âdefinitiveâ test came back negative. I strongly suspect contamination of the dry food (good brand!) our cats had always been on. Our other three cats didnât seem affected, but both Cin-a-bun and Stormie (his brother who passed at the end of October) began throwing up and losing weight. Cinnamon âfirehoseâ threw up for ages and lost a ton of weight (and he had been âbuilt like a brick outhouseâ). Weâd get the throwing up under control for a while and then, itâd start back up and weâd try different wet foods.
It helps to know that Cinnamon was feisty enough to jump in the tub last night for a drink (while I was still in there drying off!) and that he could be tempted to eatâespecially any people food gravy, cheese and bits of pepperoni.
Cinnamon was so prettyâhe was a dark orange tabby with a bullâs eye pattern on his sides and when he cuddled with any of the other cats, he had to lay on top of the other one to âkeep his neck warm.â BunBun also had calico colorations on his mouth and I often accused him of smelling the Sharpie markers because he had little black dots across his nose leather. And of course, Cinnamon was a good boy and loved getting pets.

Of course I had to do this. The Muppets: Rainbow Connection
Why should reality be lacking rainbows?
A mixture of sunshine and rain,
After the storm hits, there will be wind and some mud
But rainbows will return again!
Snow, wind and cloudburst may bring storm and sorrow,
But also bring new friends to see!
Weâll always have it,
The Rainbow Connection,
The Kitties, the Orbsters, and me!
âŠâŠ.
All of us under the Orb, we know,
That we share all the magic!
âŠâŠ.
Have you been sad or scared?
Or have you been lonely?
Come here and share with your friends.
Hugs may be virtual, but still very real,
You know that the love never ends.
Smile with Tommy, be grumpy like Elvis,
Now we can love little Bea,
Weâll always have it,
The Rainbow Connection,
The Kitties, the Orbsters, and me!
