I’m well totally opposed to “trophy hunters” (the worst scum), BUT, that will make a couple of good mounts in their cave. (And bears are “waste not, want not”)
If hunting is necessary for survival, I can condone it though I still don’t like it. Just about everything in this world survives by killing another living thing (even herbivores eat living plants) . That’s how our world works.
For sport, for fun, for “thinning herds” or other bogus reasons to kill, REJECTED.
We will be able to call ourselves an advanced species once we reach a point where we can survive on flora and artificially-made products and obtain required nourishment without having to take life. It’s gonna be awhile…
This raises a paradoxical question. So many of us hate people that hunt animals for fun. So, why are we rooting for Wiley Bears when they’re hunting humans for fun?
Although I have never hunted nor had the urge, I’d like to point out that hunting is less cruel than how your bacon got to your table. And I hope all the hunter critics are vegetarian and doing all they can to preserve habitat for wild animals. By the way, Zero population growth would be the answer to a lot of our problems.
We could make hunting much more competitive and fair, as well as greatly reducing our carbon footprint if we followed the instructions in that classic book, “To Serve Man.”
Hunting for food is usually a honorable endeavor. You kill something to eat it. I suppose the vegetarians will never accept that, and I am okay with that.
Proper hunting for food and population control should always be allowed and encouraged, as long as it is properly regulated. Poaching should have horrendous legal consequences, as well as impaired legal hunting. High proficiency with a gun must be regularly demonstrated to keep a license as well as complete understanding of the correct spot to hit each species to ensure instant drop and quick death. Trappers should have a bare foot snapped shut in a trap and bow hunters should be shot in the leg with an arrow and made to run for a while. Then they should be lobotomized. Trophy hunters should be stuffed and mounted. Just sayin’.
To me when we talk about hunting and the killing of wild animals the only thing worse than the trophy hunters are the poachers who kill for a small part of the animal to be used as an aphrodisiac or other such BS belief. But just a crazy as that are those that think killing of a farm animal is different than killing a wild animal. Another life is taken in both cases. Farm animals are just those that have been captured in the wild and placed on a farm and their offspring used to continue to serve humans. Sounds very similar to slavery doesn’t it where the only difference is that there are humans involved and rather than used for food they are made to work or other things such as sexual slaves. To say get your meat from the grocery store rather than hunting because killing is wrong demonstrates a total lack of understanding of what life is. If you think that when an animal is bred on a farm is no longer is a true life form then you should also support slavery when the children of slaves are born on a farm. I have hunted, fished and killed animals on the farm all for food. There is no difference between killing a dove or a deer in the wild and a chicken or pig on a farm. Both are/were living creatures.
I know too many 6-pack/12-pack/case/bottle(s) hunters. Darwin’s asleep at the switch. I do know a few who use everything they take but not enough of them. We don’t need more orange clowns.
I’m a vegetarian, but I have no problem with responsible hunters – it would be hypocritical of me if nothing else. But I wonder why some people seem to think a deer is “bad” if it goes after the guy who’s trying to kill it.
The best hunting is hog hunting. Hogs are vermin. A herd of wild swine is called a sounder. A sounder can do massive damage to a farm or ranch. A hunter that exterminates a sounder will be doing a great service for the landowner.
“I don’t eat meat, therefore, you shouldn’t eat meat either”.
I respect the rights of anyone who decides for whatever reason to not eat meat, not to hunt, not to drink alcohol, etc. and on and on…However, please understand that everyone has the right to make their own choices on these issues, and while you may also have the right to share your views, it doesn’t make you right in your views. I don’t hunt, but as long as it’s done in accordance with local laws and regulations, I don’t have a problem with those who do. To you, it may not make sense for someone to spend all day out in the woods trying to bag a deer when they could go the local grocery store and buy meat, that’s fine and that’s your choice…Please give others the same courtesy of “right to choice”.
And by the way, your calling wild animals sentient on the same level as humans kills your entire argument.
regarding the 2nd amendment, the supreme court said that “it protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia” so until that changes your opinions are just that.
Once again DDW spews forth a lot of bs, The money that legitimate big game hunters pay do more for animal conservation than all of the hot air from all of his long winded comments combined. In Africa the fees from big game hunting supports the local economy, the wild life preserves and pays for those who guard the wildlife from the real problem the poachers who kill to supply superstitious people with Rhino horns and elephants tusks. Also if you live in an area where wildlife was displaced to make room for humans then you’ve helped create a much more hostile environment for them where they are killed by our vehicles prone to starvation. Don’t take my word for watch the episode titled animals of Adam Ruins Everything.
While no one has the right to take the life of living beings on this planet (humanity excepted, as humanity sucks), Wiley always manages to make it hilarious whilst turning it completely around. Luv dem Wiley bears……………
Seems to me that if you are going to engage in “blood sport” (my god that sounds awful doesn’t it?) you should be equipped so that the target critter has as much chance to do you in as you have to do the opposite.

Killing trophy animals — fellow sentient earthlings of different species — for “sport” is an outrageous crime against nature.
I am all in favor of hunting — but with a CAMERA instead of a gun.
All the elements of the sport are there — tracking, following, living with nature, pointing, shooting and getting a trophy.
The ONLY element missing is the bloodlust, and that is not a valid reason to take a sentient life for “sport.”
That blood lust is a symptom of deep pathological cruelty — mental illness that presents a clear and present danger.
