The ladies’ interpretations of the camping trip sure varies.

No one ever imagines the deer ticks. ✨

Ha-Ha, Luann. The bird might sit on your chair and sing but fawns are skitterish and won’t wander far from their moms. Not even the moms will approach you. Dez..possible if the site is primitive enough that there are not many humans around. Bernice…San Diego is not the tropics so lose the net….and get out of the tent and SEE nature.

I see that the one with dreadlocks has somehow made her way into, and is mediating in, “The Jack Pine” by famous Canadian painter Tom Thomson

Dez’s scenario may be more realistic than Bernice’s, so who is the realist in this group? As much penetration that cell service has, it isn’t ubiquitous.

Finally Luann is in short shorts and a tank top. Maybe some hiking along a trail and arriving at a nice cool stream…

Apparently, Luann is going camping in a Disney cartoon.

And this is the closest we’ll come to actually seeing them on the camping trip.

And they’re really beating us over the head with how off-putting Bernice is, huh? We get it, she sucks.

If it wasn’t for Bambi and Woodstock there with Luann, one would think she’s sitting on the beach on Oahu.

Only Luann can imagine a Deer.

Well, at least none of them are daydreaming about taking selfies in precarious circumstances…yet! (Luann, though, might consider such a thing for her Date-Pic profile.)

Somebody has been watching too many disney movies. Just sayin haha

Another boring, wasted week.

This obvious foreshadowing that it going to be the opposite , just wish for once Greg wouldn’t treat its viewers as 5 year old who don’t understand what humour is. Obvious humour is the worst type of humour.

Luann is in for the biggest surprise…and let-down.

First time I ever went camping one of the guys brought along a whole watermelon for us to have at lunch. I was such a novice this first time I was too dumb to even be impressed. (remember – in the Sierras, you generally climb about 3,000 feet by lunch the first day to get into the mountains proper…)

I became retroactively impressed later.

This arc is making me want to go….

Here comes the latest disaster looking for a place to happen.

Something about Luann’s daydream reminds me of the song: “If You Like Piña Coladas”.

Time to find some balance in your life Bernice. Enjoying the world is as important as studying it.

Bernice’s imagination is boring and kinda sad. She really needs to find more interest in life and be involved in something practical. But she’s probably too afraid that irrational feelings can hurt her.

Careful Bernice. Your hands are exposed. You might get chomped by a Queen Snake. And once you get chomped by a Queen Snake, brother you’ve had it.

Wonder what Luann will do when the bear shows up. Then there is the news story about some lady who decided to commune with nature by taking a walk in the woods. She got lost and survived on berries for two weeks till they found her. I’ll bet she’ll try again for that Darwin Award.

Luann is in for a very rude awakening. And Bernice probably won’t be happy with reality, either.

Some friends took a motor home to Alaska. The wife spoke in great detail about every sight. The husband spoke in great detail about every hole and bump. It was like two completely different events.

Luann thinks she’s going to pet deer, and Bernice thinks she’s an anthropologist in the jungle. Dez is the only one with a realistic idea.

But why is there a fried egg in the sky?

I was hoping for Bernice, Dez and Tiffany to be a secondary story-line triumvirate. Missed again, I guess.

Really? Is Luann really that shallow?

Dez, and, Luann’s thoughts on how this camping trip might be are somewhat more realistic than Bernice’s. Dez MIGHT find a place to meditate, LUann could sit in the sun with nature, but Bernice sitting in the tent wearing a pith helmet with mosquito netting, working on your paper with all those books, comon now.

This won’t get farther than the forest parking lot.

Sure, all is sweetness and light until they’re all nearly run over by Ted Forth in his runaway borrowed RV…

Watch out for lyme disease Luann. Dez will be humming to herself and Borenice will hopefully write a book and make a fortune, to spend it with herself. Looks like she loves to watch the grass grow.

This is going to be a trip to remember … to NEVER do this again.

Camping is like washing your car – brings on the rain.

All of them are in for a reality check. But if they are willing to roll with it the camping trip can be a fun adventure they’ll remember always.

There is a difference between camping and wilderness camping. These three will never get into the wilderness.

Bernice, if all you’re going to do is take notes and read books, might as well stay home. Won’t need the insect gear at home (presumably)…

I’m puzzled by posters who keep calling Luann ‘shallow’ for imaging a scenario where she gets to befriend animals. After all, she does have a ‘fur baby’ at home called Puddles; seems to me that people who live with animals at their own homes would similarly imagine friendly encounters with animals in the place an animal might call ‘home’. Why is that ‘shallow’?

I really enjoyed the glimpse into the trio’s imaginations today. Very, very well suited to their demeanor:

Dez – going into nature to seek more understanding of her inner self. This is very much in keeping with her typical focus in life.

Luann – having the more stereotyically media driven imagination. What she has envisioned has been shaped by the plethora of childhood films and stories she has been exposed to. In some ways, this is a valid reflection of her life ethos. She has (for example) in regards to dating and relationships always gravitated towards wanting and searching for her own “Prince Charming”.

Bernice – I really like the Expedition/Explorer vibe of Bernice’s imagination here. She is imagining the trip being akin to almost a Safari of sorts and her getup and her focus seem rather “Shakelton” or “Hemingway” like in scope. To me this fits in well with her more “ambitious” personality…. she is very often always pursuing some sort of goal in her life.

Very, very nicely done today, IMO.

Dream on, girls. When the Forths show up, disaster will follow close behind.

The fawns are not tame, and neither are the birds. Luann is totally opposite of reality.

someone said it’ll be a “fun adventure”, well “fun” and “adventure” don’t always go together.

I see they are one of the same thought…

How is Bernice going to study ‘group dynamics’ when she is sitting holed up in a tent/fortress with her Psych book while Luann and Dez are somewhere outside the tent doing whatever they are doing?

Nice artwork. This is Luann’s world, not Leonardo DiCaprio being mauled by a bear. This is more like the really old, kids’ song about the day the Teddy Bears had their picnic………..“the little teddy bears are having a wonderful time today.”

Black flies are terrible; got bitten last friday up by the St. Lawrence River (northern New York), itchy welts on the face, neck and ankles that take a few days to subside.

Just found out that we’ve lost a musical treasure…

When did Luann turn back into a 12-year old?

Luann’s is the least realistic of their daydreams. She’s in for a surprise, especially when the mosquitoes start biting!

Not one of them is imagining doing actual camping activities? Like, hiking?

Now, why do I think the reality will be totally different?

“Communing with nature” is all very well, until you realize that nature will be communing with you, too, in the form of mosquitos, no-see-ums, ticks, and black flies, not to mention the critters that like to commune with your food, like mice, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, porcupines, and bears.

Camping…Yeah, that is a very bad idea. This is not gonna end well
