OT ā Nushi update. Letās see. In the last 2 days Nushi has done the following for the 1st time since her illness: jumped from the floor to the back of the couch (best vertical leap), done the āitās all claws!ā manuever (flip over on back and extend all feet upward) when Kira batted at her, until this she has been mostly running behind my feet and batting back from there, and used the litter box to poop in ā Yay Nushi!!!! Her meow is back to full force as is her purr. And sheās starting to really show her expressions again. She still has a powerful appetite and sheās just wonderful to watch!!!
Her diarrhea lasted for 5 days with a day in the middle of almost better. Hereās hoping Iām no jinxing it by using past tense. Miserable for both of us, but my fb group of fellow FIP fighters say itās happened to several of them during treatment, so Iām not too alarmed. My cold/flu/whatever is still with me but hopefully in its final stage of actual illness. I may have a lingering cough for a week or so, but thatās ok.
I had to place a new order for her meds just in case it was the new batch that was causing her intestinal issues, but since theyāve stopped weāll have to see how she does. Her improvements are harder to quantify these days, which is why I pay attention to the hard stuff. When she can walk on the bed with a steady gait again THAT will be a huge sign. I was a little concerned about her belly looking, well like a belly because some cats develop the wet or effusive form of FIP during treatment, but Iām still hoping its just a belly, after all, she is eating a lot and her body can only grow so fast!
Thanks to all who continue to support Nushi and me, and everyone else in the Mega-Orb who needs support! Youāre the best and Iām lucky and proud to be a part of it!
(((((((((((((Mega-Orb and Team Nushi))))))))))))))) Shirin
Just so people know, I made some changes to the story Iāve been writing, then tried to copy/paste the changes into the google document, but, while it let me delete what had been there before, it wouldnāt let me paste the changed text, so I ended up deleting both of the files, and re-uploaded them. I guess Iāll have to do this every time I do make changes to the story, though I think I may have figured out how to upload a new version without messing things up again.
Iāve been finding errors every time I reread it, so I have enabled notes for anyone using these links. If you find an error somewhere, you can add a note to the documents to bring it to my attention.
Hope he doesnāt decide to go exploring outside again. While that ended better for everyone that anyone had any right to hope, best not to push his luck.
Why is the Woman not reading āBreaking Cat Newsā or āLupin Leaps In?ā If she doesnāt have copies, she needs to rush down to her local bookstore, with its friendly bookstore kitten, and buy them. Now.
Poor Elvis is missing his foster child. Woman, you need to give him big hugs and scritches to make him feel better.
On an off topic, after putting in a day of pulling everything out of the fridge and scrubbing it down and putting everything back, we decided to order in Swiss Chalet (a chicken and rib chain) for dinner. Well, the store goofed and sent us four dinners instead of two, and only charged us for two. When I called to inquire, the person who answered the phone apologized profusely and told us to keep the two extra meals. So, we will be eating rotisserie chicken two nights in a row!
This is Ember pretty much every day. She usually becomes needy while I am on my computer and will walk across the keyboard, which once made for a fun online chat with an Amazon rep.
Maverick tends to express his neediness to the Woman more frequently, since his neediness manifests as needing to sit and have someone pet him for hours on end. The Woman not only always has a lap ready, she doesnāt even need to make him get up when she wants to move.
My boy Cassidy, may be part Siamese! He seems to be needy whenever my back is turned! If I am not paying attention to him, heāll go into the hallway and scream,"Why arenāt you looking at meeeeee!!ā
Now that you mention it, perhaps our new Ktten, Belle, has Siamese in her. In the evenings she comes down from the Bedroom, stands in the hallway, and scolds us because we are not in the Bedroom with her. Usually the Dog, Iko, is sleeping on the couch next to Marie and I am reading in my chair. Belle is still worried about the dog.
Hello Orb. I just wanted to thank you all for your kind words, thoughts, prayers, etc. when we had to put our dog, Zoe, to sleep last month. I realized Iād never thanked you, and your support meant a lot through that really hard time. Since Zoe had aggressive cancer, and we knew we didnāt have long with her, my husband insisted we go to the shelter (this was 7 months ago) to see this bedraggled looking German Shepherd female. I was extremely hesitant, as hubby is allergic to most dogs, and I admit that I was resentful at the time about him wanting to already have another dog before Zoe was gone. Well, I feel had we not adopted poor Hannah, she would have died in that shelter. She wasnāt eating and had been there for several weeks. She was probably 40 some-odd pounds.
My Big Gray Kitty was extra needy this weekend. Itās been 6 weeks since we lost our Pucky look-a-like and Big Gray is still mourningā¦. I read this could last up to 6 months.
I love this strip so much. But I noticed, based on the original series, that we have skipped over The Babyās first birthday. I do hope it doesnāt get left out.

I promised to share a few of the stories that made us love our special boy so much. Hereās one of the first.
We had adopted Conan only a few days before, but he seemed to have settled in, so we felt safe in leaving him outside for the day while we went to work. The yard is well-fenced, with a sound dog house, plentiful shade, and fresh water in abundance. Imagine our surprise when we came home to discover that he was GONE! The gate was standing wide open and our newly-adopted dog was gone. Luckily, we had gotten a tag embossed with our address and phone number almost as soon as we got him. We had a message on the answering machine, but it was hard to understand, as the person who left it was laughing so hard she couldnāt speak.
Apparently, our lovely new boy needed to be with people. Since his new people left, he took it upon himself to go find some āotherā people ā¦ in this case, a meter-reader from the power company. He jumped up in her truck at a house a little way down our road and refused to get out. Luckily, the home owner was there and was able to help coax him out of the truck. He spent the day in their back yard, playing happily with their dog! We apologized profusely and took him back home ā¦ then started researching day boarding establishments in the local area.
Late to the party todayā¦want to say THANK YOU ALL SO VERY, VERY MUCH for all your loving words & support RE yesterdayās post.
I went to see both my sick sisters-from-other-misters yesterday. The older woman & her daughter have made the heartbreaking decision not to pursue treatment because sheās so weak. Now comes the task of finding hospice placement in a nursing home.
My young friendās roommate & I saw her & her mom in the ICU. Physically sheās holding her own, doing some of her own breathing in addition to the ventilator. Her lungs are in good shape so they didnāt have to do ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation ā the āheart-lung machineā), which is great news. She REALLY wants that bleeping hose out of her throat! & keeps making moves as if sheās trying to reach & pull it out, but sheās not ready for that yet.
The not-so-good news is that her liver & kidneys have been damaged. We donāt know how badly yet. Also, she may have brain damage from lack of oxygen before they got her on the vent.
A bit more good news: sheās been on every industrial-strength antibiotic in the book, & her temperature has come down to normal.
Sheās somewhat responsive when they dial back the sedative, able to nod & shake her head to yes/no questions, but she gets agitated & indicates that sheās in pain, so theyāre keeping the sedation level up.
Meanwhile, her mom hasnāt left her side & hasnāt slept since Saturday morning.
