It must be getting scary. Even Burt is holding tight to his octopus. Love Baba’s purple slippers. Poor Sophie looks so scared. I’m glad Lupin hasn’t stopped looking for the stranger in their midst. Hope she’s not hungry enough to go hunting for mice!
Hello fellow Orbsters! I come not to ask for boops for an ailing, but to bring glad tidings of a SUPER SMALL little man, dressed all in black fluff, that has just joined our happy clan. His name, befitting his tiny stature (his mamma cat was but three pounds) is PIPPIN! This also fits his playful outgoing nature, his love of noms, and his great courage as displayed by pouncing on the 60 pound doggy’s tail and toes! This makes now one 12 week old tiny black boy, one mid-sized two year old black girl and one super-sized (near 20 pounds) black long hair girl about 4 years old. The oldest (Belle) isn’t sure she wants to welcome the little boy yet. (She hissed at him. then they sat, staring at each other). The mid size, Jade, is afraid of him. The dog is jealous, as usual, and concerned for his, and our safety from his pouncing.
Just remember what ol’ Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol’ storm right square in the eye and he says, “Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it."
Ooh, this one is getting extra scary. I know Georgia will always make it turn out all right, but I’m still sending reassuring hugs to the folks reading here in the northland that are cleaning up from from some terrible wind storms last week. There are areas of our famous northwoods cabin country that lost all their trees.
I feel so sorry for Lupin in the second panel, he seems to be trying to convince himself that he hasn’t lost his mind!
I can’t seem to wrap my mind around my knitting these days and count myself lucky if I can manage a couple rows a day on a blanket, instead of my normal 8 – 10 rows. (Deep sigh)
Dear Orbsters,Asking for purrs, barks and paw power right now. Our 15½ year old dog, Moxie, went to wait for us at the Rainbow Bridge yesterday afternoon. We are beyond devastated at her loss, but felt it was the right thing to do as she was no longer enjoying a good quality of life, and would only continue to decline. She was the best dog ever and will be deeply missed. RIP Moxie. ♥
I am a little surprised that Lupin the Cat of Adventure hasn’t gone down to the basement to look for the mystery cat that he saw down there. Maybe the storm has gotten him off his game a bit.
Elvis seems to be asking Pengo for a comment. Maybe he’ll be a “weather expert commentator”. If Hobbes can be real enough to participate, why not Pengo?
I spent far too long last night trying to remember where I’d heard “the wind is rising” before, sure it was a quote from somewhere. Finally came up with William Nicholson’s “The Wind Singer” and sequels, which I read and enjoyed as a kid and still own. (If it’s actually from “Wuthering Heights” or some such, well, I’m a YA-fantasy heathen who read that book too young and forgot the lot of it in self-defense.)
We had no heavy storms here, but I noticed a couple of days ago that my next door neighbor’s tree dropped a rather large limb, which is touching but fortunately hasn’t damaged his house. Whether he knows or not is questionable, as he seldom sets foot past his porch but then there is a neighbor on his other side who takes care of his yard work, maybe he just hasn’t found anyone to remove the limb yet.
Hello Orb. Like the BCN team I am too trapped. The big gray kitty accidentally bit me overnight Monday and I’ve been in hospital since fighting the infection. At first I thought he broke my knuckle but it was the infection setting in that fast. Hoping to go home today and that the kitties make it thru the storm.
From the two books that so rocked the world of romance and Felines: Wuthering Hights and Lupin Leaps In: Wuthering Heights and Cats
Chapter 1
Kat-thy: Heathcat!
Heathkat: Kat-thy !
Sudden shout and white object landing on Heathcat.
Kat-thy: What was that? Are you alright, Heathcat?
White Cat: Hello, there. I just had a spot of extra strong tea and thought I’d drop in to say hi! Remember, the valley can be a mountain top if you believe.
Elvis looks stuck in mid-poof; hopefully the Toddler’s friend (Pengo?) will help keep him calm so he doesn’t wake the baby. Poor Lupin – I hope his mind is relieved about that strange cat that he is almost sure he saw soon; he’s fretting for her, dear sympathetic soul that he is. For some reason, it seems as if Sophie is channeling the “winds of despair” with her soft little whisper. I wonder what art project she is contemplating. As for Tommy, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him that subdued since he was rescued from his life on the street. I’m glad to see that Trevor and Beatrix are still snug in their blankie fort; likewise Burt and Baba Mouse … and Baba is such a calming presence. If all of the others were able to join those two in the coop, they’d probably all feel much more secure (although I notice Burt still has a tight grip on his octopus pal).
