Congratulations to those who guessed that it was Jack in the hat and coat. It’s up to Doc to make the next move. What will he do?

Wow. I still haven’t missed anything. Someone else was stupid enough to wear Tracy ’s clothes; other than that, nothing has happened since last Sunday!

TREMAIN M. HUGHES – TROOP D- JANUARY 15, 1932

Lieutenant Tremain H. HughesLieutenant Tremain H. Hughes, 35, Chief of the State Police Aviation Unit, and another member were killed instantly on January 15, 1932 when their plane crashed in Madison County.

The plane, being piloted by Lieutenant Hughes, was observed by residents along the Cazenovia-Peterboro Road flying very low beneath heavy cloud cover and fog. There were no witnesses to the accident, but subsequent investigation revealed that the plane’s wing struck a tree and the craft plunged to the earth and exploded in flames.

Lieutenant Hughes was lauded as being the mentor of the famous Troop “D” Rough Riders. He joined the State Police in February 1918 at Onondaga Valley and served in Troops “D” and “G”. He was placed in charge of New York State’s only aircraft in July 1931.

Between the recent assassination attempt and the ongoing drug trafficking operation, Tracy lending Magnus his signature outfit could easily fit the definition of Reckless Endangerment. Should Sam arrest him along with Doc now or wait until after they get Doc back to the station? “Arrest him now!” “Wait ‘til the station!” “Arrest him now”…

Doc appears to be left-handed so to grab the gun with his right hand puts him at a disadvantage for taking a shot; maybe he’ll bolt and run instead.

Okay, so it wasn’t a dummy. But I was still right, for it wasn’t Tracy!

Thank goodness I didn’t buy a yellow raincoat. Who knows how many enemies Dick Tracy’s got!

I demand a new jacket !  Walking around with a ‘holey’ coat will only give inspiration to “finish” the job. I’m too young to join the Roll of Honor.

Starting tomorrow, an action filled adventurous tale of a great yellow shark, an undersea detective, Moby Dick Tracy!

How can Doc go for the gun when he threw it away?

Apparently not even Mike can follow his own storylines

Surprisingly it seems that Doc may NOT meet his demise by th eend of this story.. but by my calculations we have at LEAST another week of apprehension, disgust, “if it wasnt for those meddling kids”, and the wrap up on.. possibly.. Saturday

This means that it was Sally making off with the thermos yesterday (perhaps with Mitchell) but again, since it’s not the cocaine, the damage is minimized.

EXCEPT…if the thermos is destroyed, it’s a piece of evidence that a lawyer like Mr. Kleen can use to get Sally and Mitchell off…

BUT…what if it turns out it was a duplicate Scarlet Sting thermos, loaned to MCU by Doubleup? Doubleup!

I’m glad there appears to be no holes in the hat – it would be questionable to include it in Sam’s hat-with-bullet holes gallery.

Gouldian pointers like the one to Sam’s badge are always cute to see.

As Rudolf Klein-Rogge once said: “Curtains!”

A. This guy is a lousy shot. That’s two times you’ve shot someone and they lived. B. He’s also incredibly stupid. Standing around going ‘Hee hee’ after shooting someone.

I guess the true test of his intelligence will be if he tries to draw down on DT!

Gee, thanks Neil for re-printing what everyone could read in the top panel. Looks like Doc’s flies have “flown.” Are there gonna be holes in Dicko’s coat this time, or is he wearing Luke Cage’s garb? BTW, really surprising it wasn’t Dick who got shot

Now, if this were more of a sci-fi comic, Doc could command those flies that hang around him all the time to fly around Tracy’s face while he escapes…

Sometime lush, sometime “J. Straightedge Trustworthy” actor, foolish Jack Magnus borrowed Tracy’s distinctive yellow outfit and made himself a target for looney Little Doc. He apparently will recover.

Now, Little Doc is tempted to try to retrieve the gun he discarded. Don’t do it, would-be assassin. The real Dick Tracy does not play games….

I don’t know if Tracy “loaning” his jacket to a civilian in a small setting like a theatre where he’s on stake-out for a criminal who’s already shot him once constitutes bad judgment on Tracy’s part, or bad writing on Mike’s part.
