Yay, Natasha! Are you actually doing something unselfishly? Beatrix is the right cat to receive the tape recorder. I just hope Goldie isn’t too bereft when she wakes to find it missing!
I’m glad to see Beatrix having a nice presence in this strip lately. What bothers me, though, is the boys seem to have an extensive wardrobe while little Bea is still wearing the same outfit. Georgia, please take our Bea shopping.
Natasha’s the smartest one. And Beatrix is the one most likely to actually listen to what’s on it impartially. (Puck would have Lupin in his face and fighting if he tried to take it back to Goldie)
Oh my cat! Poor goldie, she is so tired sleeping with her tongue sticking out. Natasha is going to be a rescue ranger to help Goldie, by giving the recorder to Beatrix to decipher the cats secrets. This is like one of the best mystery books (or the Twilight Zone the case of the “missing people”. Stay tuned to tomorrow’s installment.
What is Beatrix thinking here: What is Natasha doing? How did Natasha get Lupin’s tape recorder? What are the legal, moral and ethical implications of me listening to and transcribing somecat’s secrets although that cat had obviously taken Lupin’s recorder? Let’s help a cat?
I had to go back a couple of days & refresh my memory about Goldie hiding out on the bookstore’s back porch. I know Georgia & family had to get special permission from the BPH’s owner for a third cat in their apartment IRL; I wonder if the Bookstore Woman will take Goldie in (at least for a while) in the strip.
I love how Goldie started out sleeping so tidy, tail placed just so and then ended up sprawled in a messy puddle!! I wonder if that’s how the real Goldie sleeps?
I’m done prowling the shelters! Yesterday I brought home the cutest little black kitten. He’s 9 weeks and has a few white hairs on his chest. The unusual thing about him is that he looks like he has light stripes in his black fur. You can barely see them in the bright light but they are there. I named him His Majesty. The girls aren’t sure what to think of him yet but the dogs are very curious. His Majesty slept with Jasper and I last night so all is well. It’s been 15 years since I had a kitten so there is a little adjustment but I am loving it.
When I crossed the finish line this morning, the clock (which lists the “gun time” – the time elapsed since the starter pistol was fired) said 58:17. (The gun time is not necessarily your time, depending on how far back you started.)
My official results say my time was 59:54.
It’s possible, since I lined up with the wheelchair runners (one in particular) in the front of the crowd, I may have accidentally stepped across the start line before the gun and started my timing chip 90 seconds early. But no one I’ve asked today has ever heard of that happening.
I spent some of my “Birthday Loot” to buy little Akiro a stainless steel cat fountain in hopes that he will drink more water with an ever-flowing source (he likes to drink from the faucet, so it might work).
Sadly, his deeply suspicious little kitty soul thinks it’s out to attack him. For those of you who use cat fountains, how long did it take for yours to adapt to them? I really hope this doesn’t turn out to be a colossal waste of money.
OT: Shelley, my 14 year old with the anorexia that seemed to have no cause, died yesterday at home in the sun. About two weeks ago it was clear she was terminal but she wasn’t in pain and still was interested in her toys and sitting in the sun, and she hated going to the vet so I decided that until she showed signs of distress she could stay home. I work every other day during the week so on my days off I held her and the other cats came up and groomed her and snuggled with her, even the kittens. She was lucid until she finally fell asleep and died and seemed content the whole time. She was cremated today and I took doughnuts to the vet clinic so she would have a wake of sorts. It was just a lovely death and I’m so grateful.

So that’s why Natasha was tailing Goldie. She was waiting for a chance to get the tape recorder.

OMC. Bagheera used to sleep with his tongue sticking out. Not that much, but still. Ah, memories!

So, if Natasha is using her skills for good, is she still a robber mouse?

I’m reminded of the quote from Tommy’s Woman when Beatrix was first brought in from the Void, “Let’s save a cat!”

It’s pretty awful when the only one you have that you can talk to is a mechanical device. :(

Stealing Goldie’s only comfort and then listening to her secrets looks like cruelty to me. I’m sure no good will come of it.

Well, now we know why Natasha stole Lupin’s pencil back in the 3rd of October’s strip :-)

Sleeping Goldie is like me. We start out all neat but soon we’re sprawling all over – showing our toe beans and (very daintily, I swear!) snoring.

My girls tend to stay in tidy, little, furry cat curls/loafs but my boys sprawl all over the place.

The ever cheeky robber mice (singular in this case). It seems everyone wants to know about the new cat on the block.
