The sad thing is that I wasn’t sure that it isn’t a law somewhere in the USA.

Can someone explain WTF this is about for a non-American? I have absolutely no clue. Perhaps it relates to some TV advertising or something? The rest of the world has different advertising. For everything.

Prediction: When this strip comes out in a treasury, Steph will have a comment about how this is actually a law somewhere, maybe he read a book about strange laws in the US or something.

I’ve always thought that there should be Convertible Police, cruising the highways in search of convertible owners who drive with the top up in warm weather. The confiscated vehicles would be distributed to us enlightened people who could use another.

Back in the late 80s, Coca-Cola tried marketing Coke as an alternative to a morning cup of coffee… that didn’t work out and if I recall, the campaign ended after only a couple of months. I do remember hearing their little jingle “Coke in the morning” on the radio though… :-)

I once had a neighbor (native of Canada) who poured a Coke into a glass at night. She liked it flat and room temperature in the morning. No accounting for taste, I say.

Must be in a northern coastal state. Pick a coast.

I grew up drinking Coke at breakfast. Maybe it’s a Southern thing (or was, all those many years ago)?

For maximum health benefits, you were supposed to drink Doctor Pepper at 10, 2 and 4. That’s why the numbers on the logo.

Obviously that law doesn’t apply to the military, as long as it had caffeine it was okay 24/7

That law certainly does not reply in the South*. In fact, the law might be the reverse: In the morning, you must drink a Coke before 9 am. Being from New York originally, when I moved south of the Mason-Dixon line I didn’t get it at first. Now I do, and sometimes drink cherry Coke Zero in the morning.

*southern USA, to you non-Americans.

My Dad used to have a soda fountain in his store. That nine o’clock “rule” worked out pretty well for a while—we seldom had customers before ten. Then people started ignoring it. Coke for breakfast is actually pretty innocuous.

Remember, kids, NEVER put Coca-Cola up your nose! Well, unless you WANT to gross out your parents…

In the part of Mexico that I live in Coke is the preferred morning beverage.

That was me at 8 AM when I was younger – a Coke and a Hostess cupcake – what a breakfast! Also, anyone remember Coke Black? They did try to make it a breakfast drink once!

I’m always amazed at how many people, and restaurants, think that the type of food you eat should depend on the time of day. Absolutely ridiculous.

’til is an erroneous back-formation, based on the mistaken idea that till is short for until. In fact till is much the older form of the word, and until a neologism, comparatively speaking.

Although sporting a corporal’s bars, that cop must be a novice: he is surely confusing “drinking coke” and “doing coke” (illegal at any hour)….

Pretty sure this is some sort of silly joke………… And not one that I find amusing.

I remember I was attending a training seminar in Houston Tx and at morning break time they brought in coffee and soft drinks. The instructor tole us how much he enjoyed visiting southern cities because of this practice.

I’m sure that is a law somewhere!

Guilt admission: After one cup of leaded coffee, and one of decaf, I have a rootbeer – every morning. I once ran out. It was like quitting cigarettes.

I really don’t get this one. Is there a cultural divide between the different sides of the pond or a pun that I’m not seeing?
