Awwww… And to make up for the dagger-to-the-heart of Mag spitting “Stray!” at Goldie, we get the warm fuzzy blanket of genuine understanding and empathy from Tommy and Beatrix.
One doorway closer to home, Goldie! Keep on venturing through them and you’ll get there!
I wonder if that’s what the real Goldie was thinking and feeling when Georgia first took her in. Oh Goldie, I’m soooo happy you found your furever home!
Reading this, I think of one of my cats, Torrie. She’s about 13 now based on when I first saw her which was many years ago. I remember thinking, “I would love for you to come to live with me.” Well in 2012 I managed to grab her when she came to dinner outside my home. She was inside with me for 3 years until my caregiver left the door open and she ran out. She was missing for 4 months when she showed up on my deck. I plotted and planned to get her back inside. It was successful. That was a little over 2 years ago. This is her forever home now.
This is the Late Chairman Meow, he turned up at mine as an intact stray Tom. I discovered he was sheltering in the lean lo where I kept my bins and other items, I managed to get his trust and he became part of my household. He was housetrained, and with a very loud meow, which is how he got his (new) name.
This picture was taken the day after he’d had the ‘snip’.
Time for everyone to snuggle together in the warm greenhouse to wait out the rain. Tommy and Bea can tell Goldie all about the rest of the crew and the loving and generous People.
For newbies who won’t know the Greenhouse or Tommy’s tree inside, it’s the 2015 Xmas Special. It’s wonderful, well worth reading (or rereading) It’s seven parts. On the BCN website, go to Past Reports and it’s here http://www.breakingcatnews.com/comic/puckys-purrfect-christmas-tips-part-one/
Unrelated: the #rrnutz tribe runs again tomorrow in Durham! Well … they run. I had an unfortunate experience on Wednesday during my latest (and hopefully last, for a while) facet injection when the needle grazed a nerve going in.
I’ve volunteered to hand out the finisher medals, though, and then I will go out for drinks with them later on in the day. Will post pics to my IG and share if anyone is interested.
This comic is responsible for me donating so much money to my local humane society. I know I can’t walk into one cause it’ll lead me to fulfilling my crazy cat lady prophecy, but I can give money.
Is Goldie a recession cat. That’s a term used by local rescuers out here in Phoenix Arizona to describe the influx of cats when the bottom fell out of real estate over 10 years ago. I remember as a volunteer counselor holding a man well he cried his eyes out over having to take his ten-year-old cat who he had had for all those 10 years they’d raised her from a kitten but because he lost his house and they wouldn’t take the cat inn at a shelter at that time they are changing the rules by the way but at that time animals that’s why not certified as seeing eye hearing ear or other assisting animals did not qualify in homeless shelters. He provided them the Humane society with two thick folders of her veterinary Care and documentation afterwards at the shelter the homeless shelter he collapsed. I pointed out that with that much documentation his cat was certain to be adopted and ideally hope she was. I also pointed out that he had done the hard thing by taking her to a shelter I’m letting the Humane society find her a home.
<—- Got a gorgeous pic of sis’s boss Onyx, who’s staying at grandma’s this week, & finally decided it was time to change my avi. Bigger pic on Instagram:
In the wee hours of the morning one of my cats (I suspect Sooti, but it’s possible that it was Sunny) got on the shelves above my computer and pulled down my basket full of pens and pencils.
Loads of fun picking those all up with my hip hurting. :-P
That chair dmah helped me buy can’t arrive soon enough. I got the notice that it shipped yesterday.
Yup, they understand more than you know, Goldie. Tommy might just be able to convince Elvis to help. Undoubtedly Puck will be willing to help with or without Tommy and Beatrix trying to convince him. Now Lupin, Lupin’s gonna be rude to you for the stealing of his tape recorder and making the other’s think he was crazy.
My first kid he was a street cat. The vet estimated that he was about nine months old when I brought him in for his shots and neutering. I often wonder how long he had been on the streets before I found him, or should I say before he found me.
Just got home from the vet a couple of hours ago where we said goodbye to our 10+year old orange boy, Kyo. Found out about 3 weeks ago he had elevated liver levels & began treatment with little success. Ultrasound last week showed a mass on his liver and lymphoma. Tried more meds w/ no success, and so we knew it was time to say goodbye. My daughter just felt someone jump up on the back of her chair; she reached up and no one was there. Then Kyo’s brother jumped up in her lap, rolled over for belly rubs which he never does, but were Kyo’s favorite thing. Thanks, Teenyman, for letting us know you are home and at peace.
Goldie, you will find that kindred spirits are not so scarce as you think. It’s splendid when you find out there are so many of them in the world. (with credit to LMM)
I just found out the unrelenting backache that started Tuesday isn’t from a pulled muscle—I’ve got a raging case of the shingles! I didn’t see the rash until it worked its way around my side and onto my abdomen. I’d seen that rash before, so I was pretty sure what it was. My doctor was all booked up for today, but I managed to get in to see the physician’s assistant who confirmed my self diagnosis and prescribed an anti viral and a nerve calmer, but the side effects are scary. Both cause dizziness and have a “do not drive” warning. After I picked up the prescriptions, I bought up as many groceries I could before I felt myself losing every bit of steam left in me. By the time I got to the parking lot, I had double vision and wasn’t sure I’d make it home. Somehow I did! Perishables are put away. Non perishables are still on the kitchen table. I think I’m heading for bed.

“’Twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood
When blackness was a virtue the road was full of mud
I came in from the wilderness, a creature void of form
Come in, she said
I’ll give ya shelter from the storm” (Bob Dylan from “Blood On The Tracks”)

“Oooh, storm is threat’ning my very life today
If I don’t get some shelter, Oh yeah, I’m gonna fade away
I tell you love, sister, it’s just a kiss away
Kiss away, kiss away”

“You’ve long been on the open road you’ve been sleepin’ in the rain
From dirty words and muddy cells your clothes are soiled and stained
But the dirty words and the muddy cells will soon be judged insane
So only stop and rest yourself and you’ll be off again
So take off your thirsty boots And stay for awhile
Your feet are hot and weary from a dusty mile
And maybe I can make you laugh; maybe I can try
Just lookin’ for the evenin’ and the mornin’ in your eyes”

A Wish of Comfort for Sweet Goldie
When you’re down and troubled and you need a helping paw
And nothing, whoa, nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of us and soon we will be there
To brighten up even your darkest nights.
You just call out our names, and you know where ever we are
We’ll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall, all you have to do is call
and we’ll be there, yeah, yeah,
You’ve got good friends.
Ain’t it good to know you’ve got good friends
People can be so cold
They’ll hurt you and desert you
They’ll take your soul if you let them
Oh, but we won’t let them
‘Cause you’ve got good friends
- based on Carole King’s beautiful song

Dang those Raindrops! As B. J. Thomas says:
Raindrops keep falling on my head
And it feels forever since the last time I was fed,
Those raccoons are no help,
Those raindrops keep falling on my head, they keep falling,
So I did some investigating on my own,
And I did the best I could while going it alone,
I was really scared,
Those raindrops keep falling on my head, they keep falling,
But there’s one thing, I know, the friends who came to meet me
They’re named Tommy and Bea,
They’ll stay with me and see it through,
It’s fine we’ll see!
Oh, raindrops keep falling on my head,
But I’ll still be safe and warm in the shelter where they led,
We’ll be fine, just see,
And I’ll keep on looking and I will get some answers,
Just wait and see,
I’ll find my family!
