Awww, this strip brings back memories of my sweet Whiskers! I have a photo of him from many years ago; I had a bunch of stuffed animals on my bed and the next thing I knew, he had burrowed his way under the bunch and his head popped out right in the middle of all the animals! He looked so much like he was one of the stuffed animals; itâs one of my favorite pictures of him!
Both my late brother and I had difficulty finding our respective babies among all the soft toys. And we had to give them names, and do voices for them as well.
Oh, no! I spy one of those paddles with a ball on an elastic string. In my generation, when those elastic bands quickly broke off, the paddle because a tool of punishment. Worst toy EVER!
It would be remembered as the, Great Toy Stampede! Our brave reporter was nearly trampled by a crowd of people kitten play things. But, thanks to his brave co-reporters, Puck was rescued from certain doomâŠ
Georgia, please explain the bald old guy doll. Is he a new thing in dolls? Is he a personalized memorial to a grandfather? Is he a relative of the Puck and Judy ancestral puppet? Inquiring readers want to knowâŠâŠ..
So much to love here! Pucky politely turning down the pineapple (which is SO terrible), Pengoâs striped apron (matching the pajamas), the sweet laughter of the Girl, Lupinâs Hat of Adventure, and the daring rescue (look at Elvis holding Lupin so he also doesnât get stuck in the mass of toys)!
Slightly off topic, Yum Yum crawled into my lap this morning and proceeded with a jeremiad of woes and complaints. She then took a wrapped Turtle from the candy dish and is batting it around the floor with enthusiasm, conviction, and extreme prejudice! (Donât worry, Iâm keeping an eye on her and she hasnât pierced the wrapping!)
Reminds me of the gift unwrapping frenzy of my young cousins. They then would play with one toy. The next year their mother held back gifts and doled them out over a few days. Much better idea.
Just a little Off Topic doom and gloom to counteract the Sunday Funday: Yesterday, first my indoor/outdoor min/max thermometer/hygrometer stopped working. (It wasnât exactly a Buzzy Mouse to me, but maybe a tape recorder.) Then I had a (lovely but long and full of many many people) memorial service for a friend of maybe 45 years. And while driving me and her immediate family to that service, my sister backed out of her garage and right into my car, which was parked where I park it every time I visit her. And when I got home, my partner, whoâs supposed to be the âdeal with humansâ part of this partnership, reacted badly to the car damage, and made me do all the calling of the insurance people.
I will say that both insurance company reps were very lovely. But I need a few days off and instead I have to call auto body shops Monday morning. Sigh.
Just wanted to give another little update Skywalker. Apparently giant purple mousies are her âgateway drugâ to the world of toys. She has played with just about everything in the house. (While still keeping the purple mousie âsafeâ from Damienâs grabby paws, of course.) The only things she hasnât gotten a hold of are Rosieâs goldfish (which would bring a meltdown of epic proportions), Martieâs monkey and condors (monkey is well hidden and the condors are in a room she doesnât like to enter), and McDuffâs fox (a stuffed ornament he claimed as soon as he came inside). McDuff wonât let the fox out of his sight, now that his sister discovered toys. If he doesnât take it with him, he tries to hide it under my leg. (He doesnât like it being near the litterbox.)
At least theyâre not throwing the end of the snake to Puck⊠âGrab the snake! Grab the snake!â âDonât say itâs a snake! Say itâs a rope!â
I wonder if BCN will challenge GN to a friendly game of half-court streetball? Theyâll have to find a small ball, tho ⊠maybe an orange tennis ball?
My sister and her family came to visit for Christmas, we spent the day at their hotel. I swear my niece only got between an eighth and a quarter of what the toddler and the baby got here (sheâs got more waiting for her when she gets home), but she sure had that room looking just like this.
Gonna go out there and say that the human doll is similar to, or represents, the Ask a Portly Syndicate Person guy, which is also here as a comic at GoComics. The question is â if so, then WHY??!! ⊠It does seem out of place.
Also, I presume thatâs Pengo in the apron in the kitchen with the toddler in Panel 3! ⊠:)
When the kids were little, I would do this after naptime to keep everyone occupied during dinner prep. And I must have set a very bad example, because the now-grown kids do this for the dog every day!
My uncleâs cats moved in with us when he couldnât keep them anymore. One of them didnât like us at first and would hideout on my sisterâs bed with all of the stuffed animals.
Panel 5 is a dream come true. Thank you, Georgia! And I am not upset at all with all the mean comments and hurtful feelings expressed toward me in the commnets I know life can hard and itâs an easy shot to take down a rapidly aging bald man with limited upside and a love of the soft cheeses but thatâs the kind of person Georgia is! Champion of Cheese Lovers! Guardian of the âhavenât reached my potential yetters!â

Kenny Loggins: House at Pooh Corner
Elvis and Lupin and I walked along,
Through the house that was cluttered with toys,
Reporting on rooms we could not recognize,
But it seemed to be fun for the Girl and the Boy,
âŠâŠ.
Then I got lost in a pile of stuffed animal toys,
And I canât seem to find my way back to the boys!
âŠâŠ.
So help me if you can Iâve got to
Get back to the kitchen for lunchtime at one
Youâd be surprised thereâs so much to be done,
Count all the kibble in bowls,
Meet Tasha and Violet for strolls,
Back to the kitchen of the Big Pink House and friends
âŠâŠ.
Elvis and Lupin donât know what to do,
In the disaster are of the den
They are not sure if what the mess is all for,
Will it be all straightened, and when?
âŠâŠ.
So Iâm trying to manage this new childrenâs cave,
And the Woman is asking for some misbehave(ior).
âŠâŠ.
So help me if you can Iâve got to
Get back to the kitchen for lunchtime at one
Youâd be surprised thereâs so much to be done,
Count all the kibble in bowls,
Meet Tasha and Violet for strolls,
Back to the kitchen of the Big Pink House and friends
