Prudence has a girlfriend in New York? Then why is she still working at the Fuze? The drama program failed. Evans got past the plot point where he made a terrible pun based on Prudence’s name years ago. What is keeping her here?

And Prudence needed to open the letter to know it was from her girlfriend? Methinks the lady’s beloved is not too much of a romantic, usually…

Hi Pru! Long no see! And I disagree, Luann. I rather get something for Christmas than Valentine Day. You can say “I love you” any time of the day every day and even drop a note, text with a GIF, leave a lipstick kiss on the mirror…. Giving mass-produced cards was invented just to generate revenue. Clever, I know. With Christmas, it is nice to get things I didn’t buy for myself and oh the gift wraps are so pretty.

Great. Now I’m going to have Siouxsie and the Banshees cover of the Beatles “Dear Prudence” going through my head all day.

A good line from Luann – she wants romance! I’d think that Tara would talk Luann into going on the prowl with her sometime. Hopefully Luann will turn 21 soon – going with a friend to a bar should stir up plot possibilities.

Pru’s still hanging around? She really can’t get a better situation than working part time at the Fuse? After all this time I would have expected her to find something lucrative enough to at least get her own place so she doesn’t have to rent a room at her employers’ house.

I recently lost my Valentine of almost 50 years. But I had almost 50 years where every day was a Valentine’s Day. The cards and such don’t really matter. The Love does. Treasure it while you have it.

Looks like Pru is going to send Lu off on a new date adventure destined to fail. January 2019, Pru initiates Luann’s visit to see Gunther at the Gulag. Resulting in a near kiss, frivolity in G-man BR and a window escape from a returning Les.

HOORAY! The fantastic Pru is here and is chatting with Luann ♡. She always has good ideas to help her “little sister” Luann to be happier. I wonder, what will Pru suggest to her this time? Try dating someone again? For me, I hope for a romantic date between Luann and Jack. Or at least in a speech that helps her understand herself better.

I’m the opposite. I got no love for Valentine’s Day because all I can recall is my failed romances and am happy to be single and alone. I love Christmas because I’m around friends and family, who I love, and the whole season makes me feel better about life. Valentine’s Day can eat it…

Anyone can get a boyfriend/girlfriend. You just have to lower your standards.

Valentines Day is the only Holiday I know that engenders more bad feelings than good

So, Pru received a valentine. If the girl who sent the valentine is a “significant other” girlfriend…. that feels rather sad….. because Pru’s role/job in Pitts does not seem, IMO, to warrant attempting a long distance relationship of that sort. To me, it seems if she has a significant other elsewhere…. it would behoove her and her relationship to be there. But, if the girl who sent the valentine is a casual friend who is a girl… then receiving the card feels less harsh and less lonely.

So, Luann is feeling the lack of “Valentiney Love” it appears. While I can understand that for her to a degree… I tend to think that her “focus” on this aspect of her life still seems a bit more intensive at this stage of her life than is warranted. With her oft stated bemoaning a lack of a relationship and with her being overly nosy about other’s relationships…. it still feels like Luann is really lacking the kind of focus that would benefit her in regards to her future.

I tend to think that if she really found and figured out a passion/goal to strive for in her life….. and the likely source for her at least at the moment would be to try to figure out her career goals…. she would be much more likely to naturally fall into the company of a lot of folks she would really like and be much more likely to spontaneously fall into a relationship that she would like as well.

The fault of reading comments before I post my own. On Pru there is nothing wrong with her being in the strip. She sees a purpose for being there, as a character, and more importantly, GnK see a purpose for her being there. Right now I think that she will start an arc for Luann who is having some issues with her love life—what else is new—by probably encouraging her to take some kind of action, and not sit around moaning. I think it’s a cute moan, but she needs to move on. My thought last night on Arcamax is that this will lead up to a change in the relationship with Jack—although that is my wishful thinking—and I think that Quill (UGH!!) might even be in the picture. But she has to make some kind of move.

I Really just can’t feel sorry for luann here.. She complains about not being able to find someone. Get’s mad when people she cares about do. then complains how no one gives her a valentines.

Hint to Luann, get out of your self imposed comfort zone, quit hanging out with Bernice, quit being an emotional recluse and embrace your sexuality. I mean if Gunther can do it, so can you.

I would love to see Luann and Jack start dating, even though (for now) they are only friends. After all, doesn’t romance start off as being friends first?

A new character to refresh the story line I suppose.

So Pru reveals she still has a connection with NY. This is interesting in a number of ways. First, it indicates the possibility she may return to NY since she has someone there and her drama career is the pits in Pitts. Second, it anchors her sexual orientation which, most likely for the time being, relegates her to a secondary character I nthe strip.

Most of the newspapers in the Pittsburgh area didn’t carry ‘Luann’ back when I still lived there, so I didn’t really read a lot of the high school year ‘toons. (Just catching up on them now.) But I do remember, after arriving in Florida, that the kids were applying for college. At that time, there was a poster here who used the screen name ’Leviticus’, and frequently made suggestions about plot lines. Apparently, the Evanses enjoyed his ideas, because they gave him a shout out by including (among the materials that Luann received from colleges) a book from a college called ‘Leviticus’. The most frequent poster here now is someone who loathes Luann because she is too ‘picky’ to adore his idol. I doubt the Evanses will ever provide material in the ‘toon that acknowledges this particular poster’s ‘contribution’. Sure wish Leviticus would return…

Why are folks assuming that the “girlfriend” is a significant other? I have girlfriends in various places, but none of them are significant others. They’re friends who are female.

As to Valentines Day, this upcoming one would be my 40th anniversary if my husband were still alive. He’s been gone ten years. So, for me, Valentine’s Day is just another day. That’s what…this Friday? Maybe I’ll take myself to lunch. I’m pretty good company. And of course, I’ll bring a book.

After time you become numb to it. Mostly.

Then the folks at Hallmark have earned their pay.

Prudence is a matured woman. Always advising Luann about love relationships is the arc plot point. Luann wants a supernatural relationship where luann is the center of universe. Luann wants a relationship that Brad & Toni have or Frank & Nancy have. Luann can follow the steps of Irma and Mr Gray and find someone who is not the one! Or be a “Gunther” stalker?

Wow. Surprise appearance by Prudence. It’s been quite awhile since we last seen her. Now I wonder what direction this storyline will take in the next few days..

Hmm, I wonder if this is the start to write Pru out of the strip like some many other characters. She misses her sweetheart had heads back to NYC.
