A fat woman clip-clopped into the shoe store today, and said “I need something I’d be comfortable in.” I said, “Try Wyoming.” Now, I don’t know when they started letting women carry chain saws.

Oxford and Nancy – soulmates. laughter is the cure!

Relatively easy work compared to her normal work-load.

But when will the novelty wear off, Nancy?

Sounds like interesting work, Frank: maybe you should try it too.

I’m happy for Nancy. I hope Frank and Luann get there too.

In that last panel, Frank has that look on his face that says, "Who is this woman, and what have you done with Nancy?

Yep. Someone said Nancy is in midlife crisis and it looks like she is indeed. She is acting a bit childish – we can see Luann in her right now. So, I think we can rest easy knowing Luann will grow into her mother one day. Perhaps Nancy was just like Luann in her youth, aimless and clueless…until she met Frank and found her purpose in life. My guess is G&K plans the same for Luann eventually – most likely when they agree to end the comic strips and write a closure.

It’s pretty late, because it took you six or seven hours to make and eat dinner (people are buying that, for some reason). Go to bed.

Nancy’s stories: The complete version:

Ox is so funny. I never knew. When I got to work, I said, “It’s chilly outside.” Then Ox ran and got a bowl and spoon and went outside. When he came back he said, “I thought you said it was chilly outside, but I didn’t see any chili anywhere.’ And Ox is so funny, we were all laughing our heads off.

I was working the bar and I hear a man say, “Nice shoes”. I looked around and I didn’t see anyone. Then I hear a man say, “Great tie!” I still didn’t see anyone. Then the man says, "Aren’t you a bit young to be a bartender?” Finally, I call Ox over and ask him what is going on. Ox says, "Oh, the peanuts are complementary.” Turns out it was peanuts and not a man.

A man and his girlfriend were there for dinner. Ox tells them the night’s special is chicken almondine and fresh fish. “The chicken sounds good; I’ll have that,” the woman says. Then Ox says, “And the vegetable?” “Oh, he’ll have the fish,” she replies. Turns out, she ordered fish.

So, where did Luann’s blond hair come from anyway?

This is great, I am very happy to see Nancy step out of her role and look forward to further developments.

My point from yesterday still stands: why is a bartender home so early?!? Nightlife goes way past 7 pm, you know!

Still, it’s nice to see Nancy happy for once. It beats watching the eternal tween angst Luann specializes in.

Guys, could we please refrain form using that four letter word that starts with the letter “W”.

Give the woman some credit. She was stuck at home taking care of these two for years.

Ox is funny? I don’t dislike him, but I never thought of him as a humorous character. Maybe we should see his funny side some time.

Boy, people are freaking out about this.

She likes the job, at least so far. Housewives get bored because they have no company. And people who go to work every day love staying home. At first. It might change.

Last panel: “My feet hurt a bit”..just wait till end of her last work week.

First day. Exciting. Plus everyone is nice to her since she OWNS the place. She won’t have to deal with in-your-face nastiness. Everyone is making sure she likes them. And, of course, the whole thing is a novelty for her. --Like I said before, I don’t really get it. She is the owner, which basically means she pays herself. How is that a gain? That’s working for free. My prediction is that she won’t last too long here. Just long enough for the next arc where something more interesting will happen. (She catches some illegal thing going on). You heard it here first. LOL

Nancy’s second youth has officially begun. Luann seems so impressed. She must be proud to be the daughter of a woman like Nancy ♡. And Frank should be proud of his wife.

Nancy is feeling young again and likes it.

After being a stay home mum for so many years, she really seems to be enjoying her new career :)

This one was easy to call. Even the best of marriages would get strained when one partner starts a job that will leave the other partner alone during their usual together time and involves plenty of flirting like a bartender usually deals with! I think Nancy truly wanted to help out and try something new, but I saw the impact it would have on Frank coming months doubt.

Brace yourself, Frank. She’s gonna be a firecracker under the sheets tonight, baby!

tomorrow: Brad and Toni do something or ’nother.

I knew a soldier who had a wife. When the kids hit the teen years she started to work at restaurant as a hostess. When the soldier went away on deployment, came back home & found the wife was gone. She had decided to live with an interesting customer. Do you think this is Greg’s plan for Nancy?

She’s riding high on her first successful day and full of adrenaline. But wait until she has to go back and do it all again TOMORROW! Eventually the thrill of something new and exciting will be gone and it may become more routine for her. Even Ox’s sense of humor may grate on her nerves! So let’s just let her enjoy the moment.

Nancy bartended and Frank cooked. And Luann got a good meal out of it. Plus leftovers! A successful evening for all the DeGroots, I’d say. Unless Puddles didn’t get his pill.

I told y’all she’d get hit on! I also mentioned yesterday that her feet are going to be swollen tomorrow morning. But I bet Greg will get around to the negatives for Nancy sometime in the future.

so…when is Greg going to let this arc hang like he always does. No conclusion.

Where exactly did Nancy pick up all the training one needs to be a bartender?

I’ll bet the woman whose fish order Nancy apparently got wrong didn’t think it was so funny.

Never thought I would say it but bring on poor little Shannon!!!

I’m thinking, Good for Nancy! Something positive in her life that gives her direction, some income, and a community. Who WOULDN’T be happy about that?

Orrr maybe Nancy is having the time of her life and will pump some new energy into the Fuse. So far Luann and her dad have managed to take care of dinner without a crisis.

Maybe Nancy sampled a few of her cocktail creations. Other than that, I would say that she has been pent up (in the home) for 20 years that this is the 1st time she has interacted and engaged herself socially with the outside working world.

Somebody is having a little midlife crisis.

I still don’t understand why Luann isn’t working there.

To which I replied “No. No, not really.” They didn’t even get it.

Let’s check in again in a week and see if this lasts

So Greg and Nancy have owned and operated the Fuse for at least a couple of years yet neither of them have ever worked a shift, or know the first thing about the business?

Maybe this shows how much time and effort goes into housekeeping and cooking, that her new job may be a breeze In comparison to her. She certainly is enjoying the social interaction. Good for her!

So many of you project your negative and cynical outlook on life onto everyone else. Some of us are enjoying this arc believe it or not. And some of us feel good after a hard day’s work.

I don’t get it. Why are so many people thinking Nancy is in “mid-life crisis” when all she wants is to get the hell out of the house and be her own person for a change? She wants a JOB, and HER OWN MONEY to spend. I don’t blame her one single bit. It’s not the fifties, when women (supposedly) were content to keep the home fires burning. It’s about time Frank and Luann stopped depending on Nancy to kowtow to their every whim. So, you go, girl!!!

Signs of a midlife crisis:

You’re gaining or losing weight.

You’re apathetic.

You’re jealous of other people.

You’re experiencing unusual physical pain.

You’re asking yourself probing questions.

You’re making rash decisions.

You feel like you’re slowly losing your mind.

I don’t think so.

Man, all this brouhaha across the country is making a lot of commenters more cynical than usual.

You folks want to go hug a puppy or something? You’re totally harshing my buzz.

Nancy is still high on her new job, positively euphoric. Maybe she’ll come back down at a later date….
