2 Peter 2:4 “For God did not spare even the angels who sinned. He threw them into hell, in gloomy pits of darkness, where they are being held until the day of judgment.” NLT version.
Since DFT is in a small pit, will he be looking up when he gets there? I think there might be a spot reserved for Senator Ted Cruz and Senator Graham Lindsey as well.
Mitch, on criticism of use of aggressive police tactics to clear a path for trump’s photo op. – “Instead, it just indulges in the myopic obsession with President Trump that has come to define the Democratic side of the aisle,” McConnell said.
This is the same guy who bragged about shutting down President Obama and his appointments for eight years.
It’s interesting, aside from being outrageous that Donald Trump allowed troops to storm through a crowd to safely stand in front of a church, holding up a bible to ostensibly justify his actions in the name of God.
I’m not sure of true details within the private lives of all past presidents; but in his public life that he vainly displays like a peacock spreading its tail, Donald Trump appears as the most anti-religious in deed (mere cloaking words don’t count). Religious groups that embrace him should instead, in my opinion, be fleeing from him. Their perceived Archangel has impressive energy, but is it toward the Good? Do their own contemporary Values override basic Principles after hundreds of years delineated?
The “marriage of heaven and hell” in modern Western society has yielded a hybrid that turns traditional concepts of grace and sin upside-down. The Cardinal Virtues and Deadly Sins seem interchanged in value, to judge from advertising and popular media. The Beatitudes from The Sermon on the Mount seem laughably lame when read aloud against the backdrop of present political discourse. The Ten Commandments might as well be Ten Suggestions; and the “shall,” denoting “required” as in a legal document, is demoted to the if-possible “will.”
This might be the time for a new William Blake to delineate modern desires. His poems might help expose the chaos of society and make us fearful of its coming consequences. The following is from THE MARRIAGE OF HEAVEN AND HELL, “A Memorable Fancy”:
“As I was walking among the fires of hell, delighted with the enjoyments of Genius, which to Angels look like torment and insanity, I collected some of their Proverbs, thinking that as the sayings used in a nation mark its character, so the Proverbs of Hell show the nature of the Infernal…”
Please read further for yourselves Blake’s “Proverbs of Hell” to decide whether or not they are essentially the guide for behavior among some.
The way to solve the looting, rioting problem is to figure out that the rioting is NOT the problem, it is the reaction to the problem.
Weeding the bullies out of the police department and putting in a psychological test for their replacements would be the first step in solving the rioting problem. My brother in law was a cop in a small Texas town. He was a bully in high school to the point of exhibiting psychological issues in the stuff that he did, and he was able to turn that hobby into a profession by joining the local police department
Our police should be carefully chosen, required to wear cameras, and any complaints should be reviewed by a citizen’s committee, elected by the citizens of the community. The police have a “thin blue line” alliance that means that cops take care of each other. It should be modified to mean that no one covers for a cop who has done something wrong. I understand that the police are not dealing with the cream of society on a day to day basis, and actual respect for the average arrestee can be a hard thing to muster. But, they need to understand that covering for a cop who is not treating the citizens they arrest with respect even when they least deserve it is actually putting every one of them at more risk. Any time a neighbor is treated badly by the cops, even if I agree that he is a piece of scum, it makes me distrust that I will be treated fairly by the police. Until the people of a community trust that they will be treated fairly, there will be riots, and too many police have historically not acted in a way which created that trust.
It’s been reported that Mr. and Mrs. Ivanka were executive producers in Trump’s “iconic” Bible display at St John’s church. She carried it in her $1500 purse. You would of thought that a reality TV personality would have prepared for that “iconic” moment. Instead, Trump gave it the “what am I suppose to do with this”? I know, I hold it up to show how spiritual I am. I wonder where Preacher Pence was at this “iconic” moment. In the bunker watching on TV?
Normally Disaster Pumpkin creams his jeans over Russia but relentlessly bad-mouths China. But that may be about to change. In looking forward to using the national military to “dominate” protesters, or else “They’re going to run over you.”, he’ll find no better role model than the way the People’s Army took back Tiananmen Square on 1989 June 4.
The photo-op was a disgusting show of power by the highest authority in the land against the powerless who POTUS considers beneath him. They could have used the usual crowd control “move along” tactics, but deliberately chose to use rubber bullets and tear gas to assert their dominance.
I’ve seen many conservatives (including a certain poster on GoComics) ignore the fact that those in POWER acted first using force (tear gas and rubber bullets) and then get upset when the protesters, those without power, acted angry at such an attack. These conservatives see the injured Secret Service as “victims” and the protesters as bad guys. Because powerless people being unjustly attacked should always show complete restraint when those in power beat them into submission, right? Might always makes right, right?
If I sound thoroughly disgusted at this horrible abuse of power and at those who support it, it’s because I am.
“This unraveling presidency began with the Crybaby-in-chief banging his spoon on his highchair to protest a photograph—a photograph -showing that his inauguration crowd the day before had been smaller than the one four years previously. Since then, this weak person’s idea of a strong person, this chest-pounding advertisement of his own gnawing insecurities, this low-rent Lear raging on his Twitter-heath has proven that the phrase malignant buffoon is not an oxymoron. […]The president’s provocations-his coarsening of public discourse that lowers the threshold for acting out by people as mentally crippled as he—do not excuse the violent few. They must be punished. He must be removed.” […] The nation’s downward spiral into acrimony and sporadic anarchy has had many causes much larger than the small man who is the great exacerbator of them. Most of the causes predate his presidency, and most will survive its January terminus. The measures necessary for restoration of national equilibrium are many and will be protracted far beyond his removal. One such measure must be the removal of those in Congress who, unlike the sycophantic mediocrities who cosset him in the White House , will not disappear “magically”, as Eric Trump said the coronavirus would. Voters must dispatch his congressional enablers, especially the senators who still gambol around his ankles with a canine hunger for petting. […] Those who think our unhinged president’s recent mania about a murder two decades ago that never happened represents his moral nadir have missed the lesson of his life: There is no such thing as rock bottom. So, assume that the worst is yet to come. Which implicates national security: Abroad, anti-Americanism sleeps lightly when it sleeps at all, and it is wide-awake as decent people judge our nation’s health by the character of those to whom power is entrusted. Watching, too, are indecent people in Beijing and Moscow.”
Now something from ME: And now, a reading from scripture, from the First Letter of J. Edgar Hoover: “In the beginning, there was authoritarian personality disorder. Then, there were cops.” Which, of course, is NOT fair, yet there isn’t (yet) a law against satire…………

Pray for Civility’s Peace – {3 beats/phrase}
I wish I could phrase this politely: -
- that religion is taken too lightly // by folks who don’t view it rightly
{‘mongst Trumpism’s Rightist crew // and ‘mongst Centrists and Leftists too}.
The Center, the Right and the Left // are All of virtue bereft,
and we All should proceed more contritely.
… Coda: – {4 beats/line}
We should for each other have long since prayed, -
- that civility’s peace be no longer delayed.
