And THAT is why lockdowns are a bad idea at this point, at least in places like NYC where deaths have been low since June. People are obsessed with fear of the virus, but they ignore the negative effects of lockdown that at least here, far outweigh the effects of the virus. There’s been a huge increase in mental cases in hospitals but no one talks about THAT. Just fear mongering about the virus.
I had my annual physical about 10 days ago. The nurse asked me a list of questions much like these, and I answered “no” to all of them. I wonder if that was a good or a bad sign.
GEEZUS KRIST! All you kiddies who moan and p*** about lockdown and no parties and no bars and no whatever. GROW UP! Those who deserve sympathy are hospitals and first responders; parents working from home, teachers and kids who are looking for ways to continue schooling; folks who HAVE to work and receive NO support from customers who swagger around without masks proclaiming their personal rights. As for the abuse, I’d bet my bottom dollar that those moaning about lockdown never gave one thought to such situations while they guzzled their beers at some bar. . .
Just change ‘Mental Health Quiz’ to ‘Pastis Comic Quiz’, and the same answer works just as well. Thanks for taking the trouble to cheer us up, Stephan.
You’re right. The only way we can change this is to stop reading it…
Because of Republican covid spreading polices, we have 5 times more covid than civilized countries. Republicans lied, blamed and ignored every expert and politicized mask wearing. Republicans are killing the USA.
I often wonder how many modern Americans would have fared in London during the second world war; night time blackouts, taking shelter in underground (“subway”) stations during an air raid (and wondering if you’d have a home to go back to after the all-clear sounded), rationing of food, rationing of petrol (“gasoline”), travel restrictions, and the like. I just wonder, that’s all.
It doesn’t show signs of stopping,I think I’ll go out shopping,I’m a freedom loving type of guy,Let them die! Let them die! Let them die!(with apologies to Dean Martin)
I was doing an online form. "Please scan your documentation and attach it here. TIF file only. 1MB limit. Um, a 1MB tif file is like 1/2 inches on a side.
So where did he get that? It’s not actually a quiz since it’s not a test of knowledge. It seems like something from the Internet but he’s got it on a sheet of paper for some reason.
The final, and most important question on the mental health test: “Can you resist talking endlessly to anyone who will listen, about how well you did on the test?”
My thoughts for the day… so much time has passed since WWII that there are dwindling numbers of us in my age bracket who were taught in school about the horrid tactics of Nazism, much less those who are still around who can tell us first hand.
Because of this, a good 2 generations has grown up with the inability to discern what it really means to live under a totalitarian, fascist system, where laws are invoked by fiat, without democratic parliamentary approval, rules are made by non-elected bureaucrats, health inspectors and other traditionally non-police agencies are given powers of fines and arrest (see the latest for Alberta, Canada), churches are closed, schools and their teaching narrative are tightly controlled, the media marches lock-step with the government mandate, any dissenting voices- no matter how well-researched or credentialed the science- are shouted down, censored, publicly shamed, even to the point of threats against life and limb.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is what Nazism looks like. This, ladies and gentlemen, is what many of our forebears gave their lives to defeat. Don’t make the mistake of ignoring the lessons of history.
By now I have a lovely collection of washable masks in different colors and designs – my only complaint is the need to match them with my outfit (and earrings) of the day!
