Cats do science a lot. Because they so frequently defy gravity, they find it necessary to constantly test to see whether it is truly still in effect. It’s important work.♥
I can imagine Burt… the camera guy who works the ticker at the bottom of the screen… cringing from Knowing what is about to happen. Two cats getting coated in stain making cranberries and then running all over the house… in two different directions… leaving a trail.
I am surprised that the cranberry tart has survived another day! But it looks like its demise is near. Unless it falls in comic slow motion, and a Woman in the form of deus ex machina saves the pie. Or is that dea?
Not the best place to stand, Puck. Especially since it’s Friday the 13th. Were I not such a light-hearted optimist, I might even suggest that you are doomed.
OT: as you may remember, just before I was “gracefully” ran over last year in 2019, I received a 5 week old kitten. and I had plans to have Ally spayed that fall. Well after months of taking care of myself with operations and therapy, Ally FINALLY got her spay yesterday! My question is, is it normal for her appetite to be slow last night and today? This morning her incision looks dry, but no heat or redness, she wriggled out of both the cone and onesie sweater. LOL
Friday the 13th or not, a black Puck cat can cross my path anyday. With that sunny disposition, and gleeful smile, I know he can’t put bad luck on anybody.
When Pigs Fly Day: So it didn’t occur. Yesterday never happened. Any yesterday you may have perceived to occur was almost certainly the product of a fevered, delusional imagination.
Questions for Robin Harwood: 1. Do you have pigs in Australia, or do you substitute wombats? 2. Do wombats fly?
If the answer to 1. is “wombats,” and the answer to 2. is “yes,” then you are … well, you already know that.
World Kindness Day: That will happen when pigs (or possibly wombats, assuming they don’t fly) fly.
Sadie Hawkins Day: A creation of Al Capp, the creator of the comic strip Li’l Abner, that got out of hand. Originating in 1937, by 1952 it was celebrated in over 40,000 places. It began as a race in Dogpatch between the unmarried men and women. Any man crossing the finish line in the possession of a woman had to marry her. In real life (whatever that is) it was a day when a woman could ask a man out, or even propose marriage. Basically, role reversal. Since the advent of sexual equality the day has declined in popularity. See? Progress. When I look back on society’s, and my, attitudes back then, I am aghast.
Start a Rumor Day: Otherwise known as “Social Media Day.” Social media is about as social as a face plant. By the way, someone in Australia saw a pig and a wombat flying in formation and doing aerial acrobatics. I’ll bet this is on FacePlant and goes viral in a few hours, or maybe mere minutes.
I know lots of people don’t think cats should be outside, even in a safe environment, but one of the advantages is they aren’t so bored that they must destroy human stuff for funsies.

Where is the control?!?!? You can’t have science without a control!!!
Sue Ellen about 4 years ago
We all just assumed the tart had dropped yesterday. It still hasn’t dropped today. There’s still time for a last minute rescue.
face.less_b about 4 years ago
With n=1 you have an anecdote. You need to push at least 100 pies off the counter to get a meaningful bounce probability number.

When your tart hits the floor like a big bouncy pie
That’s by Goldie
When the floor seems to shine with crust & cranberry wine
That’s from Goldie
Plate will ring ting-a-ling-a-ling, ting-a-ling-a-ling
And she’ll sing “Vita bella”
Cats will shout “yes, hooray, oh happy day”
Like a gay tarantella
When a tart makes you drool just like pasta fasul
That’s aroma
When cats dance quite in awe with the juice on their paws
It’s from a shove
When cats walk in a dream but they know they’re not dreaming, signore
Scusami, but you see, that’s a naughty Goldie and
Tart’s a no more-ay!

Cranberry tart’s don’t bounce. They splort. Now the dish their in might bounce before spraying cranberry tart filling everywhere.

And now we face the final topping

A lovely crust,
Delicious pie way!
But does, oh does it bounce?
