vidyohs It is always amusing to see the signs of desperation on the part of the looney left sycophants. Watching Wiley create his little pieces of hysteria is encouraging.
This is a re-run. Both are not mutually exclusive. People are not infallible, so science is not perfect and there is a lot more to learn and understand. Religion has imperfect people to do what a perfect being wants us to do, and some completely ignore the call to serve, some corrupt His teachings and others try to do what was commanded but since we are not perfect, it will be done imperfectly
At no point does science “rebut” existence. Science gives you all the things you need to survive with the spare time to contemplate your selfish existence. :)
Why is the guy on the left frowning and the guy on the right smiling? Seriously, I’d like to hear some opinions, but please don’t bother with political left v. right.
Actually, religion and science should be the closest of siblings. Even though science doesn’t focus on God one way or the other, it has done more to reveal the true nature of the universe around us than any other human paradigm. Therefore, from one perspective, science brings us closer to God by giving us more information and understanding about many of the ways in which God functions.
Unfortunately, many religions tend to be unable to accept much of their own historical teaching as allegorical and not literal. Which thereby causes them to react to science with possessive jealousy over what they perceive to be a battle for the rights to explain objective reality.
There are at least two approaches to existentialism- the religious (Kierkegaard) and the athiest (Sartre). The Existential Truth poster shown in this toon clearly ignores that. Perhaps the toonist is not acquainted with Sartre?

Religion vs Science. Warm and fuzzy vs cold hard facts. I’d like to hear the facts and then go talk about them existentially.

Almost everyone really wants existential truth while convincing themselves they’re getting fact-based information (rebuttals to others).
