Rat’s pep talk makes me less excited about Mondays than Garfield. Better prepare for a pastry directly in my face.

No fear Rat, Aunty Nancy and Uncle Chuckles will raise the middle-class taxes to pay the debt.

I am starting the day the way I usually do: with old english style lime jelly on a slice of wholegrain toast and an espresso. Always a great way to start the day.

My friend used to say she liked to start her Monday off by eating a toad. That way nothing worse could happen all week. To her or the toad…

I’m wondering if people will begin hoarding water?

Gotta whip up some kind of a fake scare so they can control you and tax everything you make.

Assuming that there’s any ‘woods’ left…

At least we don’t have to worry about the world getting warm. Mild version of Little Ice Age already beginning, courtesy of a solar minimum.

Rat, hit them hard on Mondays so the rest of the week does not seem too bad

You can spend money on weapons and bunkers and hoarding food supplies to prepare to fight for survival in a world that will no longer sustain us, and not to mention little chance for our children and future generations, or we can spend money to reduce the damage being done to the climate and the planet so that we do not have to fight each other and we can leave behind a planet that will continue to sustain your children and many generations to come.

I know which choice I am making. And it’s not the first one.

This IS a very OPTIMISTIC thing for Rat to say -

Flee to the deserts, anyway.

If the earth becomes warm enough, there won’t be any woods to flee into.

Oh no, Rat. Not the woods. They belongs to us, see? That’s where we goes for a walk every morning. We don’t wants it to get too crowded, see?

I’d rather see them ringed in by a Great Wall around the city and fight to the death.

We got guns in the ‘burbs.

Where I am, it’s not only Monday morning, but it’s raining. Hopefully, that makes a majority of you feel a little better about your day!

Already ahead of you, Rat. I live in the woods over 20 miles from the nearest town with neighbors who grow lots of crops, and I’m on a fresh water river…

Bummer.

I start the day by reading your strip.

My day starts early, most often in the dark, to the incredibly reassuring sound of nickering horses, happy dogs and almost patient kitties. Then, after all are assessed and fed, I have a cup of java and maybe toast on the deck watching the sun rise if not raining/snowing… and if the dogs will let me..Wouldn’t trade it for anything : )

Hard to argue with that! :-)

At my age, my days begin thus. Did I open my eyes? Am I still here? Okay! It’s gonna be a good day! (Even Mondays.)

At least he didn’t say this on a Tuesday.

He meant the week, but maybe “Monday” is the exception?
