Oh dear! This will indeed, need a major cleanup, both of the kibble on the floor (for which there will be help given, er, later, for any missed) and the horkage which will soon result from overeating.
Josette likes to eat kibbles off the floor; she’ll even scoop them out of a bowl to do that. She spent her first two years in a shelter which fed cats that way (scattering the kibbles prevented the cats from fighting over food bowls).
I can’t tell if the People-Kittens are barefoot or wearing socks. Either way, there may be some ouchies if they move around before the Cats, er Chickies, clean up all the kibble.
Since food has been the central issue of the story, I thought I should pass this on to you. If your spouse is like mine, he is now thinking that probably the Big Macs deep fried in batter and the pizza and lard smoothies are not the best thing for you, and so worrying about heart-healthy diets. Mostly this involves stuff that is a mix of straw and ground-up doormats.
But what you need is food that will rebuild blood, bone, and muscle. Chocolate and red meat for iron and protein, cheese and Guinness for your bones. (Guinness doesn’t contain as much iron as was once thought, but there is plenty of other good stuff in it.)
If you find Guinness rather bitter (as I do) try Murphy’s or Beamish. But whatever you do, don’t put it in the fridge. The leprechauns will punish you, and you will deserve every minute of it. Chilled stout loses its body and taste, and becomes thin and watery. You might just as well drink Coors or some other American beer substitute.
And always remember. You must get your medical advice from random commenters on the Internet rather than from highly trained doctors who know the details of your particular case.
For any who missed yesterday’s posting. Here’s a message from Georgia – A new kitten! Photos on Facebook and Instagram. “Welcome home, Iggy!! I’ve been watching this sweet little baby’s recovery on our local animal shelter’s page since August. He came to the local shelter alone, four weeks old, with infected injuries to both eyes. One eye could not be saved, alas, but thankfully the other healed. He has since recovered fully, at a hearty, tiny 9 weeks old. The last photo in this post shares some pictures of him from the Everett Animal Shelter during his time there. I shared photos of him with the kids as he recovered, and last Saturday we adopted him. His full name is Ignatius, but he’ll be called Iggy. He came very close to being named Barnabas, in honor of his little vampire cape , but he’s more of an Iggy. He is swiftly settling into the house, Puck and Goldie already come to the door of the guest room to check on him in the morning. Elvis likes him quite a bit too. In real life, Elvis is AWESOME with other cats, especially kittens. That’s one of the few differences in the comic. Elvis has never met a cat he didn’t quickly befriend or (in the case of kittens) take over caring for. Lupin on the other paw is usually slow to warm up to other cats, as we all know from him and Goldie. However!! He has been tentatively pretty cool about this. (So far! Knock on wood!!) Iggy is a really sweet, playful, brave, confident, laid back little guy who lives for attention and pets. Feeling very fortunate that Iggy’s joined us. He is fitting right in and all of the cats seem to have a spring in their step thanks to this little energetic guy with infectious good spirits.”
It is a little chilly this morning. The chooks don’t want to leave their coop. Except Doris. She’s in the barn with what looks like a new clutch of eggs. Omelettes for Sunday breakfast. They’ll go great with that bacon and sausage we bought yesterday.
Welcome to Iggy. My neutered cat pepper adopted young rescue jaguar ( aka kitten boy) and raised him. Then pepper and kitten boy adopted baby Vick ( who is now 5) and clearly remain Vicks parents. Now that pepper is sick, baby Vick follows him and guards pepper while he sleeps. I hope Georgia high lights the parental roles her cats will take with iggy.

I love that Elvis is really getting into the pretend play, but using both hands seems decidedly un-chicken-like.♥

John Denver: Thank God I’m a Country Boy
Well life in the Pink House is kinda laid back
Ain’t nothing my cat friends and family lack
Nap all day then run around the track
Thank Cat I’m a Pink House cat!
…….
Well some extra kibble never did me no harm
And right down the road is Burt and Baba’s farm
Even the Robber Mice have their kind of charm,
Thank Cat I’m a Pink House Cat!
…….
Well I’ve got me a sunbeam, I’ve got lots of kibble
The farmer kids put out plenty to nibble,
And who are any of us to go and quibble?
Thank Cat I’m a Pink House Cat!
…….
There’s ham and bacon that the Woman cooks,
And sometimes I talk to Bea about books,
There’s the news to broadcast, hope it’s better than it looks,
Thank Cat I’m a Pink House Cat!
…….
Well I’ve got me a sunbeam, I’ve got lots of kibble
The farmer kids put out plenty to nibble,
And who are any of us to go and quibble?
Thank Cat I’m a Pink House Cat!
