Rat may have a point, but imo, the riots lack a lot of production values: Lighting is terrible, the mics are too far from the actors, camera angles are bad, too many characters to keep track of, and I can’t tell which side are the good guys.
In addition to the Fuddrucker’s gag, early drafts of the script had another scene showing the devolution of sports, with a stadium’s marquee sign changing from “Championship Baseball” to “Extreme Baseball” (essentially just a bat fight), to finally just “Fire”.
How to stop the rioting? Arrest the rioters, Don’t release them as they are a danger to the public, set their court date for at least a month in the future. No bail if any person was injured or property damaged. Require the rioter pays damages plus 20 percent. Then elect public officials who will actually enforce the laws.
Some people only see “mostly peaceful protesting”. Well actually … that depends on who’s doing the rioting and/or how can this be used (spun) to support their narrative/cause?
Protesting a great and time honored tradition is this country. The problem is when you mix in some malcontents that just want anarchy and violence, your protest gets hijacked. Once that happens, whatever message you are trying to convey gets lost and your cause becomes tarnished by those who probably didn’t care about it in the first place.
The Bugs Butt Hate would have you believe Kyle Rittenhouse brought his AR across state lines (actually, his mommy drove him) just for peaceful purposes even though it was loaded. And that he shot those people by “ax-eee-dent”. And that the Proud Boy Nazis bail money and Kyle’s several violations of his release were all just in fun by “fine people on both sides.”
I agree with rat about baseball. "Let’s modify cricket, inverting a bunch of rules, so we end up with the most boring game in existence. Then, let’s see what we can do to rugby. Ninety minutes of nonstop action is just too much.
Well maybe… Just maybe host has bad eye sight… or orrrrr maybe… Just maybe host sees one thing and rat sees another? It’s very possible they are watching baseball but are seeing different versions of it?
Wait – we’ve had actual rioting in this country? Do the major news outlets know of this? I thought the only dangerous protesting happened in Washington, DC?
If rat loves the crack of the bat, only one side of the riot has bats, and that’s not the people. I guess it makes sense that rat is the pro-police sort, given his “presidency” aspirations….
Oh yeah well what about X? Oh yeah what about Y? I don’t care which side you are on, how about lock them all up, left, right everyone of them? Fine the Cr@p out of all of them. Second offense?: Jail and double fine. Oh and if you are receiving public assistance of any kind you lose it.
Those people who jumped on people for "making the “NAP” comment political"— are they still arguing after this page that Pearls is an apolitical strip and that all politics belongs in the editorial section?

I hope the Little Leagues aren’t teaching the kids this new “national pastime”. They should stick with baseball at least until they get to college.

Things certainly have changed in this country. Rioting is now called Peaceful Protesting in the media.

Yes, the national pastime oddly cheered on by news and politicians.
