I forgot what states or cities, but there are already areas that are banning natural gas for new construction. Warm weather states though – no one’s telling someone in WI or MN they have to use electric furnaces (yet).
Generac 22 KW from Costco , all kinds of reasons to buy one and have it installed by a licensed contractor . 22 KW for some houses of course , but they have all that are needed for emergency power .
Sorry, but real cooks use gas stoves. Any chef worth their salt knows a gas stove is quick to respond both to turning on and turning off. Anybody who has used one and then has to switch to electric is not happy.
You are far more likely to burn something on a cooktop where you can’t see it’s turned on. Like lighting when you have a heat pump, the pollution from a gas stove is down in the noise.
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz returned to Texas on Thursday and expressed regret for his trip to Cancún, Mexico after being chastised by both Republicans and Democrats for leaving his state as it buckles under the severe effects of a devastating winter storm.
The amount of green house gas produced by home gas stoves is minuscule compared to the well head leaks of methane, pumping stations, industrial usage, etc, etc. Take care of those first, then worry about my small 4 burner stove.
Berkeley, California banned gas stoves in new builds a few years ago. Soon they will have to go out of town to dine, chef’s can’t cook on electric stoves. ……and neither can I !! (The FOOLS!)
I need gas cooking doggone it. Too much heating and cooling involved in my cooking. Electric takes too long. I stir fry a lot and electricity is not great for that.
Using an electric stove is a lot more expensive than a gas stove. Anyone notice they take all the excess natural gas and ship overseas? The pollutants are still going into the air. The problem isn’t gas stoves, it’s removing the gas from the ground in the first place.
The answer is all of the above but more importantly all hands on deck.We have to use a combination of the our best and do our best. All the small things we can do make no difference in the individual but in the collective they can help save up all.We can waste time arguing the details, the point is to do what we can now.We have put off the changes needed too long, every day we wait the solutions will be harder and more painful but is the choice to party today to leave a burning house to our children tomorrow? We must work together for the common good, there will be cost and inconvenience but to condemn future generations for our inaction is the ultimate sin.
You want irony? Just as I was reading “Arlo & Janis,” the doorbell rang and it was the deliverymen with our new electric stove & oven! Ha! We’ve had both gas and electric before, and have come to appreciate the plusses of each kind…and forgive most of the deficiencies of each as well.
I drive a Tesla. It has more than enough range for a full day of regular driving about town/commuting, with overnight charging, and owners who have off peak rates certainly take advantage of them. The car can be told what time start charging.
This house did not have a gas stove, but it did have a gas fire place. So we ran a line for a gas stove. I hate cooking on an electric stove. The best part is… I can always cook when the power goes out. :-)
If I can help it, I will never go back to electric an stovetop. Control is faster and a simmer can be maintained easier on any size pot. If that isn’t good enough, “You goddang kids get off my lawn right now!”

Good thing it wasn’t an electric burner, that really would have hurt. Not to mention that it would probably be coal powered.

Using electric makes so much sense because there is no pollution from the oven. Just the power plants…

Anything you use produces “pollution.” It’s covered int the Laws of Thermodynamics. So the only “safe” thing to do is stop eating. BAH!
