Poor Trev. My Gisselle live on the streets before moving in with us. A thunder shirt helped some. But none of our cats could do what Bea does. You go girl!
Many years ago we had a dalmatian named Lill who would hide in the shower when thunder storms were coming. once she scared my aunt who was about to bathe. Later we had a doberman mix that would hide under our 4 poster bed. Our cats never seemed to mind. However our current cat Midnite flees fro the vacuum either leaving the house or finding a hidey hole away from the noise. It must hurt her ears.
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: So you want to explore the Great Pyramid again?
Burt-Ra: Yes, Your Majesty. We have found a new clue regarding the possible location of the archive room.
The Queen: What is this clue?
Burt-Ra: For that may I introduce my former apprentice and new master builder, Wally, or more formally Ahwile-Fixit the Seventh.
The Queen: Welcome, Wally. I have heard of your illustrious family. And also your latest Thwump-proof shelves.
Wally: Thank you, Your Majesty. Recently Bea discovered a scroll telling how the Royal Maintenance Team may have inadvertently hidden the archive room during renovations.
The Queen: The Royal Maintenance Team has been known for its enthusiasm. Very well, Puckmosis, organize a search team.
Puckmosis: I will, Your Majesty. I recommend Wally, Lupinium, Bea, Violet-Ifa and myself.
The Queen: Make it so. And if you happen to find any more gems and gold, please bring some back. Sophititi and Maat-Tilda are teaming with Adobe Style and Iron Glove to make prizes for the upcoming Senior Cat Bridge Tournament.
I got woke up by heavy rain and thunder about 3:30 AM.We’re under a flash flood watch. I wish I could send some of this excess rain to places where it’s so desperately needed.
I’ve puzzled over the final picture and here’s my guess. In the second panel, Bea is perched on the back of a green chair. When it thundered, Trevor dove under the chair so we see more of it in the third panel. Those are Trevor’s slippers sticking up in front of Bea. Amirite?
Sebastian is surprising well with thunder. Oopsie, being a former colony cat, not so much. I’m checking up on him when it hits directly over head . I looked at him and asked if there was enough room me. His look said everything, no! Go away!
It is quite a rainy day here as well. I have no idea what to do with myself, so perhaps I too will end up “trapped” in the bookstore or library. Either way, Bea is such a good friend to help Trevor through the thunderstorm.
I’m from Michigan (Detroit ‘burbs) where the T-storms are gloriously raucous. I’ve lived in Bay Are and Sacramento area for over 40 years, and still miss thunderstorms. As others have pointed out, we rarely get thunder or lightning and when we do it’s really wimpy compared to what I grew up with.
Question: has anyone with a multi-cat household experienced a shift in power between their kitties? In our home, Elsa is a year older than Hazel, and has always treated her like her kitten. Ever since Elsa had her yarn debacle and went to the vet a few weeks ago, Hazel has decided that she is going to try and be the alpha kitty instead and has been beating up on and stalking Elsa, who is baffled. They are both spayed and Elsa has always been the dominant and outgoing one in personality, whereas Hazel is scared of anything and everything. You wear shoes or a hat, or put on gloves, and Hazel is hiding! We have had both from 6 week old kittens, so they’ve been raised exactly the same. I am just confused in this seeming takeover by mild-mannered Hazel!
My family moved from the Bay Area to Illinois when I was 11. Our d*g was about 4. He’d never heard thunder. He was too big to get under beds so he did the best he could to hide.

Aww poor Trevor. Such a good boy, sure glad he has Bea to comfort him. My chihuahuas sure don’t like those storms much either.

From the late, great Eddie Rabbitt: Love a Rainy Night
I love a rainy night.
I love a rainy night.
I love it when it rains us
Watch the lightnin’ though it may be terrible
You know it makes me feel good.
…….
I love a rainy night,
It’s such a beautiful sight.
I love to put on my rubber ducky raincoat,
And when it gets too scary,
There’s a rug to hide in.
…….
Showers wash all of my cares away.
And there’s a rug to hide away!
…….
’Cause I love a rainy night.
It’s raining cats and dogs.
I love a rainy night.
I love a rainy night.

Rainy day kittens always seem to know when it’s time for a hug
Rainy day kittens don’t leave, they just purr till you’re nice and snug
Rainy day Bea don’t lie when she tells ‘ya she’s been scared like you
Rainy day Bea don’t mind if you hide ‘til the thunder’s through
If you get antsy, all you really need is that rainy day friend
Rainy day kittens all know there’s no storm that will never end
Rainy day best pals don’t mock each other, that would not be kind
Rainy day Bea knows to hang out for Trev’s peace of mind
Take it or leave it, or try to believe it
If you’ve been down too long
Rainy day kitties don’t hide love inside they just pass it on
