Is this the equivalent of the probability theory that states that a million monkeys hammering a million typewriters (or a hundred, or a thousand) will eventually write the entire works of Shakespeare?
To be honest, a well made, hand-crafted bucket can be a thing of beauty. And for those who have never seen a bucket before, it is quite a technological advancement.
Kind of reminds me of when you buy kids an expensive toy and they end up playing with the box it came in. I’m not sure it’s an appropriate analogy, but it’s true.
The purpose of art is to make you think and to make you feel. It does not in any way have to make you like it or to make you feel good – and that’s the part far too many people do not comprehend. But it must make you both think and feel.
I’m looking for a 5 gal. plastic bucket to make into a planter. I used to get them at a restaurant (pickles). Now I see them with advertising on the side for $5! What a bucket-racket.
And Wat Dabney invented the Inverted Firkin, albeit a number of thousands of years later; which of course raises the question – just how old IS the Mona Lisa??

Art is what I SAY it is. But utility is obvious to everyone.

The toy can be played with one way.
But the box it came in….
…. the possibilities are limitless.

Not really surprising that people appreciate utility more than graffiti, however, artists are famous but who invented the paintbrush?
