Betcha she didn’t get it right! The best answer does not always come from the fastest thinker. I often found that the fastest minds gave up quickly on the really tough problems. Had a methodical Optics PhD who was a real bulldog. He never gave up until the puzzle was resolved.
Ouch; the teacher’s expression tells me that on this occasion, Gracie may be in for a surprise. She may learn that speed isn’t always the best thing when it comes to quizzes. Quality, not quantity.
I’d like to think that this is a story arc that ends with Gracie learning some humility and having to temper her arrogance. Instead, it’s probably going to be the teacher accusing her of cheating because NO kid could REALLY be as smart as Gracie (except Caulfield from “Frazz”) culminating in her pompous nature getting reaffirmed when the teacher realizes in the end that, wow, she really IS that amazing! (With a likely gag at Baldo’s expense at the end)
I remember those days in school. Our state gives standardized exams for the various subjects one is required to take in junior and senior high school. First time I took one – 9th grade Algebra – I finished it in much less than the minimum 2 hours one had to stay (3 hour maximum) and sat there with the paper turned over on my desk until it was time to leave.
Teacher was upset when I went to leave and if I was sure I did not recheck the paper. When I got home my mom was upset that I was home so early – sure that I had messed up the test.
I got 100 on the test. When I came home with my report card my mom was so sure that I messed up the test that when she asked what grade I had gotten and I told her, her reply was “Well, next year you’ll study harder and do better.” ?

Can you be smart if you’re inconsiderate of others?

Do you suppose the teacher suspects advance knowledge of an unscrupulous nature?

Seems like she going to take a crash course in humility.

i don’t think she was inconsiderate at all. I didn’t take her reply as being a smart aleck. Her classmate knows how smart she is.

It’s never a good idea to turn in a test/quiz early. Always use the extra time to review your answers.

Perhaps Gracie forgot to put her name at the top; an automatic F when I was in school.

Years ago. I was doing really well in a math class. So the teacher found a nice tricky way to put me in my place.

Poor teacher. That quiz took Her almost 5 minutes to finish.
I once had an Algebra teacher accuse me of cheating because I answered ALL the questions on one of his exams correctly.
I challenged him by asking a couple simple questions:
A) Since I was the Only one with a perfect score Who had I copied from?
B) Since I was also the First Person to finish and hand in the test, again: Who had I copied from?
He had no answer to either of my questions.

Bakana – must be something about Algebra.
