One of my faves. It was posted on a friend’s fridge for so long that the paper had gotten tan and brittle.

Dad must be a good incomer, owning such a valuable shirt!!

Calvin will find out what’s wrong with Hobbes if he tries to smock him.

Next, Hobbes will want a silk “smocking” jacket!!

You may have to smock him one to the side of his head.

This was how I learned the word smock as a kid and I probably annoyed my mum by saying it constantly.

The Icelandic word “smokkur” is cognate with the english word “smock”. It means “condom”.

Worked in a clean room with a smock and a snood!

Lol the power to affect others is almost always through personification. King Arthur had Excalibur to rule his kingdom and Hobbes has his smock to make a masterpiece.

Steve Allen used to get hung up on that word, too.

Reminds me of an episode of “Two and a Half Men” entitled, “Squab, Squab, Squab, Squab, Squab.” It was one of their best episodes.

Does anyone remember when Steve Allen hosted the Tonight Show and “smock smock” was one of his routines?

The only thing missing is the sleeves rolled and bunched up. About seven times. Plus you need someone to fasten the top button from the back.

I love it when Hobbes gets Calvin’s goat.

You know why Hobbes likes the word " smock"? It is very close to smooch. And Hobbes has shown he is VERY open to smooches.

You mean other than the fact that he’s a talking stuff toy that’s smarter than his owner?

This is one of those few times when Hobbes is the irritating one!

Quit smocking around and get your smock dirty. That’s what a real artist does.

I believe this is a parody of the “artist” who is always admiring and buying new brushes, canvases, paints and easels but never seems to actually use them for more than five minutes at a time. Believe me, I used to be one of those guys. I was saved by an excellent Muse, who just happened to be a cat. :)
