I killed my Twitter account for the reason described in the comic, but I was murdered on Facebook. Zuck won’t say nothing, but from the timing and some evidence I dug up, I’m pert’ shure it was a political assassination by some mindless troll.
Meanwhile, YouTube is going to heck in a desperate quest for money from awful ads. Not sure what is going on over there, but I have to confess that whenever I see a corporate cancer in pain it gives me schadenfreude.
Are they censoring comments here, too? I think I commented that I terminated my own Twitter account for the reasons of this comic. Then I noted I was killed on Facebook by parties unknown, but I believe for political reasons. Then I said something unkind about corporate cancers in general, but let’s see if this comment gets censored, too.
But I will ping Pastis via an alternative channel…
I offer a positive word about Twitter (both pre-Musk and current.) The 256 word limit is a great tool to polish one’s writing, learning to make a point efficiently. I left Twitter due to the left-wing censorship, but am considering returning to the Musk Twitter.
My favorite example of “free speech” was the sudden inability to post any link to Mastodon. He did ban a bunch of journalists, but reinstated them after backlash.
So, exactly which part of “Social Media” is Social???
“relating to activities in which you meet and spend time with other people and that happen during the time when you are not working”: Cambridge Dictionary.
Staring at your phone 18 hours a day is NOT being Social.
A common misconception among dolts is that the Constitution guarantees “free speech”, but it’s a contract with GOVERNMENT, not with anything else. It’s perfectly constitutional for me to limit what you can say on my platform.
I love it … happened a couple of times on Facebook to my overly outspoken brother. His thousands of friends assumed that the men in white coats and nets took him away..
This reminds me of a t-shirt I saw recently. Duct tape can’t fix stupid but it can muffle the sound.. Musk was just trying to control stupid people out there that write stuff that is very offensive to others and not based on fact. You have free speech but sometimes you need to shut up and keep your thoughts to yourself.
“Social media” is not inherently evil, or even bad. However there are plenty of posts in these comments that display the type of behavior that is ruining it.
