Depends on how the joke is told.

I love how they never directly show you who the other person is, but you just know it’s Susie.

Or if you’re the one actually hearing it.

Your throwing snowballs at Susie never gets old, Calvin.

Or when it’s on you instead of someone else.

Funny is when something happens to someone else

But this time, the premises are reversed!

Two pairs of boots/shoes knocked off (frame 3); rather impressive.

I wish I could’ve had a strong enough arm to get even like that. Time to save for a cannon.

I always find the Napoleon’s bust joke very funny, no matter how many times I hear it.

Susie has a good arm.

That must be the mild mannered Susie on the other side.

It is funny when it is told.

It is funnier when it is explained.

It is funniest when it is finally understood.

Many commentators have assumed the other thrower is Susie. It could also be Hobbes. Calvin and Hobbes often throw snowballs at one another and – as usual – Hobbes nearly always gets the last laugh. Also, the idea of Calvin playing a joke on Hobbes and Hobbes playing a more forceful one back is often explored. It could be anyone but it is most likely to be either Susie or Hobbes as they are the characters Calvin is most likely to have a snowball fight with.

I think Monty Python and 70’s Mel Brooks should be excluded from this rule. (“Romanes eunt domus” still cracks me up to this day.)

Calvin, still, hasn’t learned NOT to hurl snowballs at Suzie—he ALWAYS gets worse one in return ! ! !

What you get for sticking around instead of gettin’ while the gettin’ was good!

The punchline in panel four is good, and I smiled, but let’s face it. This comic is just a repurposing of Charlie Brown on the pitching mound, complete with the clothes flying off.

Would be to Joe Biden because he wouldn’t have remembered it from the first time. Well, assuming he got it or someone explained it to him. “See, Joe… we got this here chicken. And its crossing this road… ya’ with me so far?”

Let’s hope the return fire was from Susie !!l Calvin gets his Karma…

Ever sense that Calvin would be a bully if he was large?

Those happy moment are so fleeting.

My wife’s mom often said “A joke is a joke once.”

It’s always funny till someone gets hurt. Then it’s hilarious. That’s what my brother thinks anyway.

Some people just can’t take a joke.

LOL IDK; I’ve been cracking up over these jokes for years.

Calvin should give lessons to modern day jokesters. The trend now seems to be to explore every possible variation on the same joke until it’s beaten into the ground.
