April represents drought-ravaged California right now. Bring it!

At least, Mike and Farley seem cautiously optimistic. Reckon they’re the only ones in the family who are aware that no mortal can change the weather.

Once we get soaked to the skin rain no longer means anything. It is resisting that wears us down.

I have to say that in my day, math books were not waterproof and teachers tended to frown on destroyed math books. Elizabeth’s trajectory is a little confusing to me. Normally she stands by the bus stop on the way to school. On the way home, she goes straight from the school to the bus. And yet the next time with see her with the wet math book, she is at home.

They say this comic strip is based on real life, but it is far from real life here in Ontario, Canada where this is based. For the last few days it has been sunny and dry with fire bans issued and RECORD BREAKING HIGH temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius! Though the forecast calls for cooler and possibly scattered showers on Tuesday.

April has the right attitude. If life throws you lemons, make lemonade.

April reminds me of Gene Kelly dancing in ‘Singing in the Rain’. “Gray skies above makes me happy again .. because I’m singing and dancing in the rain!” Makes you wonder, everybody is mise able because they have to be out shopping or playing baseball. or reading a newspaper out in the pouring rain, so who is babysitting the little 3-year-old girl? Oopsie daisy. Time to sing in the rain.

Living here in Florida, we LOVE the rain (there is so little of it). As long as it’s not accompanied by a hurricane!

I remember I was about 4-6 years old (meaning it happened more than just once) and it would rain at my grandparents’ farm in Missouri. I would want to play (you know, the kids on Sesame Street played in the rain) but I knew I couldn’t play without “rain boots”. I couldn’t say galoshes and that was what I really wanted. So my grandma made some using the used brown sugar bags she kept by putting them over my shoes and then using a rubber band or some kind of tie. I then went outside to play in the puddles. Would I had been embarrassed back then to had worn them into town or wherever? Yes. Now I look back on it with sadness because it was one of the many special things that my grandma did for me to make childhood more unique and special. I really miss her.

All a matter of perspective, isn’t it?

Ahhh.. the joys of childhood. Used to like walking in the rain and run through the water filled street gutters and pools of water…just like April.

I know these are repeats, but Lynn, the artwork portraying the rain is just perfect!

It is dangerous to drive in inclement weather. Elly was in danger of a vehicular rollover in the fourth panel.

Somebody has to like April showers!

Elly is likely very worried about this heavy rain. If the sump pump fails to work once again, it would mean yet another basement flooding. If Elly made sure to subscribe to flood insurance, will the coverage take effect so soon?

Only April knows how to appreciate God’s bounty.

When in high school one of my friends and I would get together and walk in the rain, But that stopped when she ended up in the hospital with pneumonia.

Well, sure, when you’re four and all you have to do is play in the rain. No bills, no school, no job, no responsibilities.

The toddler somehow is able to put on a raincoat, boots, and hat, bring an umbrella with her, open the door (which nobody locks), open the umbrella, and wander out into the yard. April is very talented, unless Farley did that for her.

I like how Lynn’s Sunday comics use little to no text.
