Ugh. Whenever I start a new job, or am pushed too hard on a job, I dream about it. At the one time I should be relaxing from work I’m forced to work again, and I’m not getting paid for it.
Sometimes your nightmares begin when you wake up. Like getting a phone call at 3 AM because a batch program abended and you have to fix it before the workday begins.
Or how to helping fix the world that they participated in wrecking for the coming generations of humans? The ‘Greatest generation Ever’ did a great job of ruination of the earth and nations…
Retired 13 years, but occasionally I do have a nightmare where I’m still driving truck but can’t seem to get to where I’m suppose to be ….. and I have to get “there” so I can finish my shift and go home. Very frustrating and I’m glad when I wake up and realize it’s a dream.
I am retired but dream about being back at work. I don’t work though, I wander the plant looking for someone to tell me to do something. I never find them. Sometimes I take a nap on an office couch. This is the first time I’ve seen anything to do with Arlo and work, what does he do?
When I was a kid… A teenager… a college student… in the workforce… I used to tell myself “One day… you’re going to grow up and all of this will be over!” LOL! right.
My friend still has nightmares about trying to get to his college class so he can take his test… and he graduated in 1972! But he’s not in his underwear anymore, so that’s progress.
I’ve had dreams like this about being back in college; it’s a week before exam time and I haven’t done the reading, I’ve missed too many lectures, et cetera et cetera, and then I realize that I graduated years ago.
Before I retired I was a pastor—chaplain—educator, and frequent preacher…thus the nightmares of not being able to find my sermon notes [ironically, I stopped preaching from notes after moving from parish to hospital chaplaincy].
Of course before Covid came along – still working meant a day out every month without husband, (plus another day at my embroidery club) and an extra day out without him to meet with a client for his annual tax info.
Somehow he is still alive – haven’t killed him yet.

There were those times. But they’re gone now. Retiree’s still have to make some hard decisions. Like how long to water the lawn.

Whew, It’s still March. I have a month yet though I never wait till the last minute. I just can’t put things off.

Coincidence? Both Arlo & Janis, and Pearls Before Swine are nightmare themed today.

When I retired I left it all behind. Never give it a thought. It’s like none of it ever happened.

Retired 23 years now, but ever now and then, I’ll have a dream about managing a large project.

You should be paid when you dream that you are at work.

I retired from teaching in 2006. Didn’t miss it a second even though I had a great career, and have never had one dream about it.
I retired from second career in 2020. Don’t miss it; no dreams.
Instead, retirement keeps getting better and better.

I’ve been retired for a long while so those times are long gone. But the dreams continue – sometimes involving work, sometimes university.

I’ve been out since 2008, but I still have occasional dreams about missing the alarm clock. I wake up, think for a second, smile and go back to sleep.

I would never want to have a lucid dream. The best part of being asleep is being completely unaware of everything.
