My old Dodge Ram was called the “Beast”, the car is simply “Her” and our RV is called Lucky (Falkor since our two puppies that go with us on trips are names Atreyu and Bastian).
For me “Misery” is his scariest novel/movie, I still jump at the thought of one particular scene. For most disturbing (meaning I couldn’t sleep after) I’d have to say “Jacob’s Ladder”.
All the rest of his books is still pretty scary, both “Christine” and “Cujo” definitely got to me. The shining was also scary, but it was the tension that kept me on the edge of my seat.
What’s in a name? We are talking about ghost haunted machines. Christine was a non-corporeal entity from a human that died. Others like Herbie the Lovebug has one that was never alive or human. Hitler tried to harness one for his behemoth tank. It failed. Bartley Finchley had a most unusual problem. His aura upset the ghost in the machines. Even after his death the lawnmower kept veering off to strike his gravestone. It took a Ghost Buster to research it and figure it out what had happened.
We started with “the mustang” (mine) and “the capri” (his). We got to the point in the 1980s where it became “the car” and “the van”. Since then both vehicles have changed – and at one point we owned two vans, the car has changed a couple of times due to hating what we had. Now we have “the car”, “the van” and “the RV” (which is also a van).

Oh, NOW I get it: the Stephen King novel. I thought it was Arlo’s first wife. Whom he never mentions. Whom They Never Found…hee, hee, hee!

My wife left a note on my brand new Porsch that said “This is not working!”
I started to panic!
But I started the car and it is working fine.

I’ve never understood naming cars. It doesn’t bother me and I’m not knocking it, I just never wanted to name one of mine.

the only named car I’ve ever had was a 1993 Plymouth Grand Voyager which was green in color. It was named by my kids, “The Green Bean.”

I recently needed to drive a friends car with the push button start. The car dashboard had to tell me to also push the brake down. LOL
